Dinga is a town in the Gujrat District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It lies between the rivers Jhelum and Chenab. The main highway (GT Road) that runs from Lahore to Rawalpindi is about 27 km northeast of Dinga. Dinga is about 100 km from the border that separates Pakistan and India, the city is famous in Pakistan for ‘Meethi Saunf’ (sugar-coated aniseeds).
History:
Dinga is a historical town. The actual name of the town was Deen Gha (the hub of Islamic education) but with the interval of time during the British Empire its name became Dinga. Many people say that the name of this city is called on a Gurjar family, the Dinga family. Nowadays you see Dinga names in other areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh provinces.
There is evidence that this town was established in the 16th century, by Choudhry Muqeem Khan. He came from the nearby village of Bhalaisranwala and laid the foundation of a settlement. He started raiding the Dacoits who at the time were a persistent danger and established both peace and order.
In 997 CE, Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi took over the Ghaznavi dynasty empire established by his father, Sultan Sebuktegin. He conquered the Shahis in Kabul in 1005 and followed it with the conquests of the Punjab region. The Delhi Sultanate and later Mughal Empire ruled the Punjab region. The Punjab region became predominantly Muslim due to missionary Sufi saints whose dargahs dot the landscape of the Punjab region.
After the decline of the Mughal Empire, the Sikhs invaded and occupied Gujrat District. During the period of British rule, Gujrat District increased in population and importance. The predominantly Muslim population supported Muslim League and Pakistan Movement. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, a minority of Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India while the Muslim refugees from India settled down in the Gujrat District.
Administration:
The city of Dinga is part of Kharian Tehsil (a subdivision of Gujrat District) Punjab and is administratively subdivided into two union councils, Dinga-I and Dinga-II.
Transport:
The easiest way to reach Dinga from abroad is to fly into the airport at Islamabad, and then take a bus or some other means of transport to Dinga. Dinga is about 155 km from Islamabad. It takes 2.5 hours to reach Dinga from Islamabad by road and 3 hours from Lahore. Dinga is connected to Islamabad by the Grand Trunk Road (GT Road) the main highway that runs from Rawalpindi to Lahore.
At the city of Kharian on the highway, you will take a right turn onto Rasul road towards Dinga. Dinga is about 25 km from this point, which would take about half an hour to reach. The condition of the GT road from Rawalpindi/Islamabad to Kharian is excellent, and the road from Kharian to Dinga is reasonably good for travel. An alternate way to reach Dinga from abroad is to fly into the airport at Lahore, and take the transport to Dinga via Kharian. Lalamusa-Dinga Road via Jaura Karnana is also an option. The Lalamusa-Dinga railway link can also be used.
Dinga is a junction of many important roads. It is located on Kharian-Mandi Bahauddin Highway. While many roads take off the city, i.e., Dinga-Gujrat road, Dinga-Phalia road, Dinga-Lalamusa road, Dinga-Kunjah road, Dinga-Mangowal road, Dinga-Mandi Bahauddin road. Dinga railways station is situated on the Lalamusa-Sargodha railway line.
Educational institutions:
An old high school named Sardar Hakam Singh/Kalyan Singh High School was replaced by Govt. Higher Secondary School Dinga in 1926 by a wealthy Indian man named Rai Bahadur Sundardas the new school is situated in the same building with a new infrastructure.
Other schools and colleges in Dinga include Govt. Degree College for Boys Dinga, Govt. Degree College for Women Dinga, Asian College For Women, Asian College for Boys, Govt.Tanning Institute, Arshad Institute of Technology and Dar-ul-uloom-Jamia-Rizvia Zia-ul-Quran and Kidsbeacon school Dinga (Abdullah Campus, an institute for Islamic education), Pakistan high secondary school, The Grammar School Dinga, Pakistan Quality School, Eraas House Of Knowledge, Daar-e-Arqam School, Govt.High School For Girls. VEGA school system. Sirrat-e-Mustqeem High School Dinga, Gazali School System, The Educators (Mian Ghulam Ghous Campus) and Islamic model high school Dinga.

My ancestors were from dinga. My great grandfather was sh. Noor Hussain and his house were known as haveli noor Hussain. My grandfather sh.Fazal karim was very young when sh. Noor Hussain passed away. Sh. Noor Hussain used to raise horses for Indian British army. Sh. Fazal karim moved to Peshawar but was in touch with his older brother, forgotten his name. He did not have kids . My father sh. Sharif Ahmed used to talk about his family background, and this is how i learned about dinga. May Allah bless the souls of all my ancestors.

A wonderful informative, there wr many Hindus rich people from Guliana town who migrated to India , specifically a Shah family who wr Contractors to supply desi ghigi to Jehlum cantt, they all moved toward Kashmir border peacefully . Khan Bhadur Ch. Ghulam Sarwar was a Khatana Gujjar Zaildar of Dinga and a first class Magistrate. He was brother in law (سالا) of Khan Bhadar Mian Ghulam Muhayuddin Gujjar Koli Zaildar of Kolian Shah Hussain. Captain Mian Fateh Muhammad Zaildar of Kolian was son in law and nephew of Zaildar Ghulam Sarwar of Dinga. Captain Mian Fateh Muhammad was grandfather of Mian Afzal Hayat ex caretaker CM Punjab.

Ghulam Sarwar was a Zaildar and Title holder Khan Bhadar, he was an honorary Magistrate, honorary magistrates had no requirement of formal education they passed judgements on the basis of local customs and court clerks would strike down in writings their oral judgments. Hence there is nothing about any college education regarding Khan Bhadar Ch Ghulam Sarwar Zaildar.

Oh gosh, there was a delicious I am from KHAN family and we have family friendship with them I my self in the hot summer used to have jacuzzi bath in there too well hose my age is 54years and on Eid we used to hang swings ropes on the trees eating there cauliflowers carrots mouli etc oh God what a memorable movement have com to my mid the road now call kamala link road was just dry dusty and muddy in the rainy days coming back to the York question. 1947 کے بعد کے حالاتکے بیان میں بڑی تشنگی محسوس ھوئی, ڈنگہ شریف میں میاں محمد دین جیسے شہرہ آفاق صوفی بزرگ گذرے ھیں. کاش ان کے حوالے سے بھی کچھ گفتگو ھو جاتی.

حضرت میاں محمد دین رحمتہ اللہ علیہ کی پیدائش 1888کی ہے انہوں نے 1911میں میٹرک پاس کیا سردار کلیان سنگھ ہائی سکول سے میٹرک کا امتحان گجرات مشنری سکول میں بورڈ کا دیا تھا یونیورسٹی کے انڈر اور بورڈ کے امتحان میں انہوں نے فرسٹ پوزیشن حاصل کی تھی اس کے بعد ایک سال تک ٹاؤن کمیٹی ڈنگہ میں ہیڈ کلرک کی جاب کی اور ایک سال بعد وہ دیوبند اور پھر وزیراباد دینی تعلیم حاصل کرتے رہے وہ دیوبند کے تحصیل الفاضل سے پھر شرقپور شریف میاں شیر محمد صاحب رحمۃ اللہ علیہ کے پاس چلے گئے ان کے حکم پر علامہ اقبال کے ساتھ دو سال رہے پھر امرہ کلاں شریف آ کے حضرت میاں الدین رحمۃ اللہ علیہ کے مرید ہوے حضرت میاں شیر محمد صاحب رحمۃ اللہ علیہ کے حکم پر وہ بہت بڑے زمیندار بھی تھے بہت لمبی سٹوری ہے
