People criticizing Rashmika’s accent - she played a Telugu girl and speaking with an accent makes it so authentic. Even Punjabis speak Hindi with lot of Punjabi words and heavy accent, Bengalis speak with Bangla accent - is that understood by everyone ? No but no one complains and accepts it because there is a beauty in diversity, in the different slangs. Because it is Southern accent, you have a problem now - wah re hypocrites !! South directors se 1000 cr hit chahiye Bollywood ko jaise Animal and Jawaan , par South accent mein actors Hindi bolde to joke karoge ! Vijay Sethupati was also mocked just like Rashmika. I hope Rashmika gets her due recognition in other Award shows. Nepolia beti can buy all the filmfares she wants.

I said it before on another of his interviews, and I will say it again Amazing interview and insight into the mind of such a visionary person. Personally loved every frame and aspect of the movie. Including the so called controversial ones, which Screenplay was very unique, game changer, and very engaging. Loved the idea of leaving hints or bits and pieces in previous scenes to then connect it going forward. Some of the parts I loved that had an amazing impact: 1. When Jijaji puts his authoritative hand on Ranbirs shoulder to stop him from seeing his father at the hospital showing he is in charge. And the reverse is done by Ranbir when he has come to kill him. Epic! 2. Ranbir asking/telling his older sister at the 60th celebration as to why the jijaji calls their dad, dad and not Sir. He even warns his younger sister on her choice....and later when the younger sister meets him after so many years at the hospital she introduces her fiance and he calls their dad 'Sir'! The expression Ranbir gives without saying a word is top-notch 3. Ranbirs son calls him 'Hero' when him and Rashmika are having a fight on the stairs and the kids see it. Again the way its directed and how suddenly you feel Ranbir melt and get emotional is kudos!

Tummbad director, Rahi Anil Barve, first wrote the draft for this story in 1997, when he was 18 years old. From, 2009 to 2010 he wrote 700 page storyboard. He first shot the full film in 2012 but after editing he didn't like it. Then he rewrote and reshot everything and completed it in May 2015. But it was released in 2018. Now that's a real filmmaker. Where are his interviews?

(PS: LONG COMMENT AHEAD!) Okay, let me tell you something. I had not watched Animal in theatres because I got that message that its extremely violent and disturbing. At that time, I was scrolling through some youtube shorts and reading the comments. Those snippets of animal did make me feel uncomfortable (like the scene where Abrar just charged at his new wife). The comments below them also discussed about the scenes in animal. One of them said that in one of the scenes, Ranbir's character made his wife lick his shoes. I got flabbergasted!! I was like just wth this movie is? I didn't know the context or the story whatsoever. Just the act was enough to make me question the movie. Later on, when it came to ott, I watched it. Then I understood everything. I got shocked when I saw that Ranbir's character, ie, Ranvijay, actually asked Zoya to do that, not Geetanjali. And this made me realise that most of the people were like me, they didn't watch the movie and were spreading so much hatred without even knowing who did what?! They were believing blindly on whatever a 3rd person said and were passing it on in social media. You people need to understand that this guy, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has made movies where there is no particular "hero" or "villain". The main character is the hero and is the villain of himself. In Kabir Singh, Kabir was his own villain. His own habits led to his downfall. Same thing has happened with Ranvijay in the movie! Its just that Abrar was 10 times more worse and gross than Ranvijay, but ultimately Abrar died, and Ranvijay suffered at the end. Now, people were also saying that the movie diverted from the theme of father-son love. Even I believed that (as I hadn't watched it before, and the scenes in youtube shorts were always negative and gross). But when I watched the movie, I realised that this movie never deviated from the topic! From start till end, whatever happened, has revolved around the father-son duo!! The whole movie portrayed what a madman Ranvijay was, and he was a madaman because of his mad love towards his father!!! At the end he even says that he doesn't know why he loves his father so much, but he does. When his father comments that he is just using his name to commit crimes, and on the inside, he is just a criminal, Ranvijay does say that he had a well settled and happy life in America. He came to India only when he got to know that his father was shot. He also added that if he would have found that everything was alright and okay and it was just an accident, then after his father's recovery, he would have left and went back to America. He stayed only for his father. He did all the murders, became a psycho, only for his father! Thats why even Geetanjali says that she wished his father would have died that day. Why?? Because Ranvijay even went on to cheat on Geetanjali just to get intel about his father's murderer!! So it was all revolving around this father son relationship. And about the shoe licking scene, first of all, Zoya was his villain. Now imagine this scene by reversing the gender. I am sure then the scene would have been very empowering for women. But here it defo becomes problematic! I brought this gender thing up coz other than that, I don't think there is any reason why people are so hooked up to this scene. I mean, as Sandeep said here, that woman was involved and was part of a plan of murdering Ranvijay's entire damn family!? And even in that situation, Zoya was saying that she fell in love with Ranvijay, which angered Ranvijay more! Because in his perspective, Zoya was his enemy! So he obviously thought that Zoya is just lying straight to his face. So in order to prove this theory or point, he asked her to lick his shoe. But even if he asked her to do and put his leg up, did he really let her lick it?? NO! As soon as Zoya sat down, he just up and left. Zoya never licked his shoe. There are several movies where actually people have tried dying or committing suicide and have done so much harmful things just to prove their love. But here, the licking thing never happened! So its baseless to say that it promotes or glorifies this. Now there is also a scene where Ranvijay holds Geetanjali's feet in his hands and has sat beside them. There are several scenes where Geetanjali has shown her anger and has voiced her opinions. Sandeep has never said or shown that these good and bad sides were only shown by boys or this kind of exchange of emotions was only done by boys. It was also done by the girls, but this was deliberately ignored by people in both the movies. In the film, Ranvijay says that this is what happens when your wife gets out of your control, after Geetanjali shuts and throws his laptop away. He goes and a big argument happens between them. But then, at the end, when Geetanjali says get ready for doctor's appointment, Ranvijay agrees to this even when he wasn't really wanting to do that. So all that he said about controlling was just him being fake in front of his cousins. Coz otherwise, as much Geetanjali listens to him, he also listens to her. The ONLY problem that Ranvijay had was he was blind in rage and love for his father. He was always devoid and hungry of attention and love from his father, which made him into an animal. And the action scenes, with the bgm, were actually good! The album of this film, the acting, everything was top notch! And also, people are saying that Ranvijay got away with everything in the end. Okay first of all, just to clear it out, instead of showing how police officers are being corrupt, and showing how police officers ignore or release the criminals by just taking money or yk, by just knowing that the said criminal is son of some billionaire or millionaire (which actually happens irl), Sandeep Reddy has omitted the involvement of police in his movies. There are many movies which revolve only around hero and villain, and involve no police or law system in them. This movie is nothing special in that aspect. So, since police officers aren't even a part of the story, saying that there was no police or criminal charges on him is absurd. STILL, still, just so that you understand this very point, in the movie you do see Balbeer always threatening Ranvijay that he will go to jail if he removes "his hand" from him, meaning if he wouldn't have had influence on the police, then Ranvijay would have gone jail for his crimes. So now yk why police wasn't involved in the entire story. Now, moving on, Ranvijay did lose EVERYONE!! He is losing his father, as he is gonna die anyway. He still didn't get the affection or praise or recognition from his father. And his wife and kids are also leaving him. Now imagine yourself in the scenario where every person whom you have loved from the core of your heart leaves you. Do you feel the pain? Do you feel the suffering? Thats exactly how you kill a person without shedding a single drop of blood. Okay, now I am gonna stop. At the end I will just say that neither in Kabir Singh, nor in Animal, Sandeep has glorified the negative qualities of the Main character. In both these movies, the main characters have always suffered due to these negative qualities that they possess. If people are this blind to not notice this just because a police wasn't involved, then I can just imagine how they would be watching and interpreting movies in general. In Hindi there is a saying "Jaan bujhke soye huye ko koyi nahi jaga sakta". Similarly, if people will deliberately ignore the obvious message, situation and story behind an action in the film and make their own narrative about it, then not even Sandeep Reddy Vanga can do anything about it, let alone people like us.

@@212letliveonearthI am not attacking her, she chose a poorly written role where in the first scene she sees RK, second scene they make out like animals and lie semi naked, third scene she confesses her love to her enemy, all in 2 weeks. It was a shitty role in a big film with big stars. Now audience ogled at her body because nothing else was showcased. The love-making scene went viral on social media on the day of the movie release to grab eyeballs. She knew what she was doing and what reaction she would be getting for this role. Whereas Audience had a chance to see Ranbir and Rashmika’s talent in multiples scenes and not just their love-making. So audience is appreciating the characterization, dialogues and performance.
