I was 9 and a little nutty (I still am, just in a more sophisticated way). I tape recorded a few episodes of Land of the Lost and the tapes became my prize possessions for awhile, because back then it was the most "on demand" you could get, unless you lived within a bicycle ride of a movie theater and your parents were happy to pay to get rid of you as often as possible.

I was a sickly scrawny kid in the rural backwoods of Western Kentucky when this show aired, watching it on our clunky old black & white TV with rabbit ears antenna It made me believe that the woods around our house was inhabited thickly with flesh eating dinosaurs. I'm 60 now, highly educated and have enjoyed a life of world travel and success. Sweet memories no matter...

It was a foul mouthed, slapdash, shell of the series, and OF COURSE, Will Ferrell was just doing another variation of every other character he ever played. The movie needed the depth Soencer brought to Rick Marshall, and the script NEEDED to be A LOT closer to the spirit of the show.

That's ambitious! All I did was record a few episodes on a tape recorder (VCRs were a few years later). But I did film Planet of the Apes action figures on my little Super 8 camera. I'd film a few frames, slightly move the figure, then film some more. When it came back from the developers I found I'd done a decent job, the figures looked a little like they were moving of their own accord. I also filmed a spoof episode of The Waltons with my siblings. I called it "The Walnuts." For the opening, I dragged a toy old-fashioned car across our billiard table with thin fishing line. It turned out to be a masterpiece, though I don't recall it winning any awards.

This show lent to every wide-eyed 8 year old walking through the original REI’s and peering into the old Buck Knife & Henry display cases in 1970’s-early 80’s hardware stores. And then came the Fisher Price Adventure People (remember that series of pre-Star Wars “action figures”?) All of us kids wanted a backpack like these characters and a belt knife. Unless we were playing Bigfoot and Wildboy. All that required was a dirty old jump rope. 45 years ago. (sigh) It goes so fast.

This was my favorite show when I was a little kid. I couldn't wait for Saturday morning. As an adult, I was so happy to hear that a movie was being made...then we got that crap...WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! The possibilities for a trilogy or multiple movies were unreal....so sad!!!😢

Not to mention a prototype for a lot of "Weird Alien Technology" shows, Time Travel, etc. It has surprisingly deep lore with the Sleestaks. There's even an episode where they see an eternal loop of their fall down the waterfall.

This show was my childhood... so much so, that I, as a kid, actually made a, somewhat crude recreation of the cave in my backyard with plywood and a wooden bench, a couple of buckets so I could climb up and into my cave😅 Ah childhood😂

Loved this show! David Gerrold. Also wrote Star Trek’s, “The trouble with Tribbles”. The second theme song lyrics were written by Wayne Osmond. And in 2009, another show ruined by Will Ferrell.

Thank you! Oh my gosh. This brings back so many memories. ME and my 4 bros watching cartoons. We lost our oldest bro in 2018. He was paralyzed from botched back surgery for many years. This reminds me of when we were all young and strong. Even our late parents still here. Grandparents. Everyone. Miss them all so much. But what a fun sweet trip to the past. God bless🙏😍🦖🦕

I really appreciate you Sir. I frequently watch commercials from the 70s and the 80s. I was born in the lower 70s and love getting nostalgic. Recently found one of my favorites, That's Incredible, on KZbin. I'm so going to enjoy watching this episode!! What's odd for me is the fact that I went back and watched Voltron and Airwolf and it wasn't how I remembered it and I actually got bored a few episodes into them.

Just moved to a city from a northern town with 2 channels. We got cable for the first time; this was the first program that started around 5am. Never been up that early but was happy to be up early and to be a part of the Saturday Morning Fever Gang. "Saturday morning fever is on the rise on NBC." Does anyone remember those old cartoon bumpers ha ha!

This is how you write and produce a children’s show. What passes for kiddie entertainment” in 2023 is nothing more than a thinly veiled exposure of the immature and perverse mind that produces them. Ok, I’m off my soapbox😊

Chaka is now living in a retirement home in Florida. He likes to play black gammon and enjoys watching the Flintstones and Harry and the Hendersons. He doesn’t just drink water now, he moved onto to ham sandwiches and pizza and likes English Tea with a splash of milk and a spoon of honey.

Sometimes Chaka longs to be with his own kind, but only during his mating season, which occurs when sunspots appear on the surface of our sun every 11 years of the solar cycle. This is said to be the inspiration for the notorious Star Trek episode, Amok Time (Season 2; Episode 1, 1967)
