Such a shame that there is not a ton of footage of him playing out there. Thanks for the upload!

But his offensive contribution was minor compared to his defense. Larry Bird ate Arkansas up in the first half, but Sutton put Moncrief on Bird and Sidney simply disappeared Bird. He did absolutely nothing in the second half. It was the best all around performance I've ever seen by an Arkansas player. He was asked to score the key baskets when they had to have the, but also just shut Bird down. I was thinking the other day about something Michael Jordan said at various points in his career. He had a small number of guards he praised for being particularly great defensively. Moncrief is obviously on that list, but Alvin Robertson was as well, and Jordan also praised Daryl Walker (lord, if Daryl had had a shot, how good would he have been?). This says a lot about the kind of players that Eddie Sutton attracted to Arkansas. I think Sidney was the best Eddie Sutton player, but Daryl and Robertson the best defensive combo at guard in Arkansas history.

Moncrief was one of the greatest defensive players of all time, college and NBA. Brilliant

Not a lot of flash, but athletic and fundamentally sound. Happy Sid made the Hall, he deserves it. I hope NBA TV plays some of his best games!

it’s weird that there was a three-point line painted on the court even though they’re playing in a non-NBA city, Cincinnati.
