Bullshit Darius. Jordan won 5 of his 6 championships and conference championships against teams that had fewer Hall of Famers than his team. The 1 championship he did win against more Hall of Famers was against an old Isaiah Thomas. Jordan’s team went from 57 wins with him to just 55 wins the next season during his first retirement. The year he joined the bulls, he took them from 28 wins the previous season to 37 wins. Tell me, Is your GOAT just worth 2 games or 9 games? Larry Bird took a piss poor Indiana State team to the NCAA finals on a 33-0 record. He took his Celtics from 27 wins to 61 wins in his rookie season. He dragged his Celtics to the 1987 finals even with 6 teammates out injured. See my GOAT is worth many more games than yours. Jordan dunks well, i give you that.

I grew up a Philly 76er's fan (mostly because of Dr. J.). It seems like every year Philly would beat Milwaukee in the playoffs and then lose to Boston. Sidney Moncrief was such an impressive player, almost a one man gang. It was easy to like and appreciate him even when rooting against him. To hear him mention how good Andrew Toney was is very fitting. They were two of the greatest players to watch at the time with similar abilities. I wish there was a highlight reel of Sidney out there. Thanks for posting this video

One of the best defenders in league history swept the Boston Celtics in 1983 slowed by injuries probably would make some all time teams. at Arkansas he teamed Ron Brewer and Marvin Delph to form The Triplets that went to the Final Four in 1978 a very underrated player.

THe East was absolutely a MONSTER back then. Boston, Philly, Milw. Toney was a UNIT and so was Bernard King. And of course Bird. How incredibly stacked the EAST was back then is a tribute to Bird's 3 Championships. Way way way harder to get out of the East than the West back then.

no doubt the east was tough back then and I can say Milwaukee should've reached the finals at least once but their competition was too tough. But for the West, it wasn't a exactly a cake walk with the Spurs, Mavericks, Rockets, and teams coming on like Phoenix and Portland. Isn't it funny that in Jordan's case, they say "the east was tough but Jordan stopped all of them" but when it comes to the 80s, the Lakers aren't given the same praise for not allowing the Mavericks and other teams to advance?

Toney was one of my all time favorite players. He fit perfectly with the Sixers. Great one on one player. Sidney was a great all around player. Those Bucks teams were very good. Couldn't get past the Sixers though.

Only the greatest NBA players could play at the highest levels when facing the best competition on the biggest stage. Andrew Toney is absolutely one of the greatest players ever. He played lights out against both the Lakers and the Celtics giving unbelievable performances. Master of the three point line when he wasn’t taking it straight to the basket over the top defenders. On his way to legendary status when poor management and ownership derailed his career making him play injured. Very rare the stress fractures that plagued him. A healthy Andrew Toney would have given us memorable matchups against MJ and the Pistons that were rising to the top just as he retired. Probably would have been in top 25 and HOF. Both feared and revered by his peers.

I’ll never forget those three teams all fighting for the right to play the Lakers! The bucks were just the odd man out, they never quite made it, but they more than deserved to.

Head to head vs M.Jordan in regular season, Moncrief scored just 14.6 ppg with 48.6% in 22 games. Jordan 51.6% and 31.6 ppg. In 4 playoffs games Moncrief was 54.9% vs 43.6%, 26.5 vs 29.3 ppg, not bad for the 1st playoffs series of a rookie M.Jordan vs a two times winner of defensive player of the year. What happened later shows that Jordan was able to learn a bit in the process.

If Worthy wasn't injured the Lakers wouldn't have been swept. 1989 NBA Finals- Magic and Scott were injured. 1991 NBA Finals- Scott and Worthy were injured as well.

Dick Vitale and Moncrief have an interesting connection. Vitale had just become coach of the Pistons, the year Michigan St won the National Championship. Vitale loved Greg Kelser and Vitale wanted to draft Kelser...but...Detroit had the 4th pick and Vitale thought for sure Milwaukee with the 3rd pick would pick Kelser. Vitale got the Piston owner to give Milwaukee a million dollars to swap picks..so Detroit could move up to number 3 and pick Kelser. Milwaukee never had any intention of taking Kelser....they wanted Moncrief the whole time.

Sidney's Bucks were the best team not to win a championship. They had the misfortune of playing during the 1980s, when the all -time best teams (in the 2 point game) were also playing - the Celtics, Lakers and Sixers Toney was at his best when the Sixers were playing the best - the Celtics, Lakers and Bucks. He was the leading scorer in the 1982 Finals against the Lakers, despite being at times double and tripled teamed. Michael Cooper and Larry Bird have said things about Toney similar to what Sidney was saying.

Sidney Moncrief was the best “2 guard” in the NBA from 1982-86. He was injured in 1987 (playing in only 30 games) and tried to play a few more (partial seasons), but was not even close to his prime/peak self. Andrew Toney was also plagued with injuries and was probably the 2nd best “2 guard”, when healthy, in the NBA from 1982-1984. If these two men had stayed healthy through the late 80’s, they would have been right there with MJ as the best “2 guard” in the league.

Jordan shot almost 50% for his career with the Chicago Bulls which is pretty good. The Bulls franchise was a joke before Jordan was drafted in 1984, but he doesn't get enough credit for making the playoffs right away with a subpar team. The older Moncrief was guarding a younger Jordan who was just super athletic at that time, but once Jordan added the mid range, incredible footwork, fade away, and post up game it was over for Moncrief and the rest of the NBA. Jordan's last year with the Bulls at age 35 won everything except DPOY, but he was in 4Th place for DPOY. Jordan also ended his career with the most accolades in NBA history with 22 and second closest is Bill Russell with 17. Becoming the Goat is a marathon not a sprint!!!!!

Jordan played in the triangle offense which requires ball movement and not one player dominating the ball. Once Jordan trusted his teammates it was over for the rest of the NBA. He was not disrespecting MJ at all. He was simply explaining the tendencies of two players, and why one was harder to guard than the other. He is not saying that Toney was better than MJ, or that he shut down MJ. All great defensive players study the opposing players.
