I remember my first shoulder bag and all my gear would fit in it. As my gear grew, so did my bags. I went from shoulder bags to backpacks to roller bags. Most of them made by Think Tank. These days my gear lives in two Pelican cases at home. If I'm driving, I'll take the Pelican cases which are on rollers. Then put whatever I'm using at a location in shoulder bags. If I'm flying, whatever gear I'm taking goes in bags which go in a light weight hard side suitcase on rollers which goes on the plain with me. This works best for me right now. Use whatever works for you.

I would need something like this to have 4 wheels like a suitcase. The difference between a suitcase with 2 wheels, and 4 wheels is HUGE.
@mkdn2 жыл бұрын
Yeah same, pulling a 2 wheel vs pushing a 4 wheel is a huge difference. I do like the size though
@vtxgenie1 Жыл бұрын
2 wheels has more space inside, plus larger wheels are better over uneven surfaces like cobblestones, just depends on what you need most
@dkwak1012 жыл бұрын
I can vouch for the replacement wheels. One of my wheels fell off and the Think tank CS was great, and they sent me another 2-3 wheels with all the fasteners.

Front pouch doesn’t look very padded for a laptop. Love the idea of a roller bag for camera gear. I recently got the very big Peter M. bag and although I love it when you load it up it’s heavy as hell.
@SidneyDiongzon2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it’s not very padded in the front, but I use it to store my reflector and gels
@mrlt11512 жыл бұрын
One thin I’ll point out as a frequent traveler, you should be prepared to gate check that bag at some point. There are planes that it won’t fit overhead, and you can’t always control bin availability. That’s why I prefer the pelican. I bring a small cable and lock with my Pelican, and lock it to cargo rings in the rental car.
@Dmogul2 жыл бұрын
The first bag is really nice, I like that it’s still more bag like than hard shell case, but still durable and heavy duty to hold your gear the way you want. I totally need something like that production manager, One day …. One day …..

I bought the manager 30 v1 about 3 years ago and it was probably one of the best purchases I have made. Great on the big shoots. The new wheel enforcement on the v2 looks better but I have never had any issues with mine. Attaching tripods or light stands to the sides is still a bit of a chore though. No need to stack bags on other bags is so great. The depth of the bag being so deep means you can cram more gear in there.

The shimoda carry on with wheels may not be as practical, but the way it opens is sick.

Yeah, I had a Pelican Case once and it was cool, but just not versatile enough. Also, the wheels on those Pelican Cases can break easily! No wheel replacement program either (at least from what I remember)

Great video. How about an update showing how you pack the Production Manager 30? (similar to what you did with the 40 showing how it's packaged with stands/lights)

Hey!! Stop picking on my Pelican (actually branded as PortaBrace) because you can Jared had me dragging down the hill at the cliffs 😂🤣😂🤣 I was looking at this before I bought my Shimoda Explorer 35 V2. I might still need to get this because lots of travel this year. Mahalo for showing this with your input.

Having the handle lump in the bottom is a pain especially with 2 gripped bodies. You have to work around this lump and add lenses and it becomes quite a nightmare. The knockout for your lenses is designed for older DSLR lenses not for the new mirrorless lenses which are quite bigger in size and do not fit into these openings
@jonfraserdop2 жыл бұрын
two wheels is a deal breaker for me... 4 wheels would have been soooo much better.. hopefully they make one in the future..
@Tvj_films8452 Жыл бұрын
I have yet to see 4 wheels on any of those bags. Think tank, Manfrotto, pelican , nanuk, lowepro, none of them. SMH. You would think that by now they have 4 wheels

what made you go for this over the Think Tank Airport Roller Derby? I just saw the Derby has 4 wheels vs the 2
@eyeport2 жыл бұрын
This looks like the lighter version of the airport takeoff. While i love mine with its solid construction and the wheels have been smooth, i do have one complain: their internal padding will scratch your gears coatings. Both my 1dx and 5d4's bottom have seen significant scratches to the bottom paint. Otherhan that they are good bags.

I wish it opened the other way to reduce the size of the opening flap. The long vertical flap is a bit clumsy while opening and setting up. Otherwise I love it.

I have NEVER been stopped by anyone in airport security to look in my bag because it looks "expensive" or my look like it has expensive items in it. And even if you're trying to be discreet and not bring attention to yourself on the streets, people who are looking to rob you, know camera bags when they seen them, no matter what the brand. IJS
