Wish the bottom near the wheels would have a hard plastic material. Usually that part of the bag gets sratched when the bag is pushed around ..... What do you think?

Can any of these Think Thank bags, be placed into check luggage, or are they simply too soft?

I would never ever check a camera or lens. They are all certainly strong enough. But I wouldn’t trust the airlines tracking my bag. I’ve had more than a few bags turn up missing and lost for good!

Do you think I could put a folded Tripad tripod desk on top of the main compartment. It’s 35cm width? A Canon HF G40 camcorder as not very tall stuff will be in the bag

I had never heard of a Tripad till now. Looks very interesting.I doubt it will fit the Airport Takeoff, maybe the Air Port Security. I think you'd need to take it into a shop and just try it out - if that is possible.

I'm an Performance Analyst for a sports team so need the backpack straps to climb up video towers so Airport security not an option. Any idea of another roller bag like this one with the straps and that would fit this? Thanks

Like I said, I am not 100% sure it wouldn;t fit. The best thing for you to do, if possible, is to take the Tripad into a brick and mortar shop and try it out. Sorry.

Well it has been over a year. Which bag are you using the most?

Ok, so after a year I find that I still gravitate to the Roller Derby or even the smaller Airport 4-Sight that is the smaller version of the Derby. Why? The wheels! These two bags have the four casters on the bottom and make it so I don't have to drag the bag but I can roll it next to me. When dragging the Takeoff I sometimes kick it with my heal.

The airport sight must be discontinued. I think the 4 wheelers are the way to go for airport travel!

Yes, the 4-Sight is discontinued. The Derby is the only choice with four wheels in a Think Tank bag.

So very sorry for the long delay in answering this. As I stated to Jay G. I really like the 4 caster wheels on the Derby. They swivel and make moving the bag through airports super easy. At first I thought the wheels might not be as durable, but I have taken the Derby and the 4-Sight (no longer available) all over the world from the uneven sidewalks of India to the cobblestone streets of Italy with not issues.
