Must admit the iron warriors have gone from one of the blandest space marine legions in my book to the one of the most interesting. Angel exterminatus was a great book that really showed us that Perturabo, while deeply flawed was among the best Primarchs. He loved his brothers in his cold way, but was loyal and just mistreated. Honestly the Emperor was just a giant dick. The entire mess that was the heresy comes down to his own stupid decisions. Although I love that the Primarchs, while being god like in abilities, were essentially very human and all of them were children that wanted a father. The emperor by this point is so far removed from humanity, he fails to convey emotions and fatherly guidance. So his lack of humanity leads to his downfall. It is poetic, tragic and very, very indicative of the human condition. The heresy is like a Greek tragedy that boils down to Gods having family issues that end up fucking up the world.

Perty was the best traitor Primarch at the siege and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. He turned traitor because Horus was there for him in his darkest hour and he trusted him entirely. When he saw how Horus had fallen he know he was lied to which is why he left.

I really enjoyed the bits of Emps and Horus in the Solar War, just enough to draw you in. John French, I think, is a damn good author, flawed though he is with the IVth. He knows how to grab your attention, and write his action, Sigismund with Dorn, Sigismund in Solar War, easy examples. He can also give you some baselines to enjoy, Su-Kassan and that little family. Just some thoughts. Though I'll just say this, I think Chris Wraight's 'Warhawk' is gonna be the real crown peace of the series.

Meanwhile its interesting that he is leaving the siege of Terra, but it cause a huge problem in the overall lore. The Sons of Horus were blamed for the failure of the Siege of Terra by all Legions. This is what started the Legion Wars in the Eye of Terror that ended up with the formation of Black Legion. Now, if the Iron Warriors literally abandoned their positions and left, how is no one blames them more for the failure? They would 100% see it as a treachery and be mad as hell on them, more than on the Sons of Horus.

At the start. Then each legion started going they're own way and losing themselves in the fight. The only ones that might have known were higher ups and we know most of them died or were distracted by the time the IW left. Not all the primarchs were told what 8others were doing.

It doesn’t cause a problem at all. The siege is s going on for 3 more books. This isn’t the end. The Sons of Horus fled right at the end of the siege. They literally all ran away the moment Horus died leaving the other legions completely alone. There’s also literally not a single mention of how the traitors feel about the Iron Warriors in the general sense. I can’t recall any line from a chaos marine stating how well the iron warriors did at the siege. It could very easily be that both legions are blamed but the Sons bore the brunt of it. The legion wars were sparked by all kinds of things. It wasn’t purely revenge on the Sons of Horus. It was just the traitors turning on each other and pointing fingers like they were always going to do. It was mostly caused by the Emperors Children since they too barely participated in the siege and so had the numbers to bully other traitor legions post heresy.

Perturabo is literally becoming one of the best written Primarchs. I would have loved to see him stay loyal but seeing how his character developed through out the years I highly doubt that to be. The heresy would not have gone far if Pert chose to not participate. Im glad he had the foresight to see what was going to happen to his sons if he had obeyed Horus's orders. Him knowing Horus would have hunted him down shows the true testament of his Iron will.

Total Noob here, but, That's a surprising character development for Perturabo; for what I heard (had never read the books) his fight with Daemon turned Angron (was it?) who he defeated and now this. Seems to show there was some true humanity with him. I do hope that alterations like this are indication that will show he has NOT ascended to a Daemonhood, cause after hearing the story where he fought Angron it felt out of place he would change character and then become the very thing that had made his brother a slave to Chaos. Has Perturabo been shown as a Daemon Primarch as of yet? It is alluded it happened. Seems of the fallen Primarchs, he and Magnus were done dirty and many hope for some form of redemption arc for them someday.

There’s some whispers that the final fight may change a little, instead of Horus killing sanguinius, Sanguinius kills Horus and falls to the black rage out of grief, and he’s the one who will mortally wound the emperor, before the emperor kills sanguinius and saves the blood angels by blaming Horus for killing them both

@@Muffinkakes1 Nah, that wouldn't make sense. A major plot point in the Horus Heresy is Sanguinius coming to terms with inevitable death at the hands of Horus. During the Heresy Sanguinius becomes aware that he will die should he face Horus but that only with his death does the Emperor have any chance of victory. By the time of the siege, Sanguinius has pretty much accepted his fate and is beginning to make peace with himself. I just completed the audiobook and dont know what to say. I've never read a book as great and at the same time as aweful as this. To call it anticlimactic would be an understatement. All the build ups for barely anything. Emperor titans die "off screen" and big E's own ship is thrown away like it's nothing. This book is like an amalgamation of half finished side stories and at times quite confusing. It feels rushed at times only to drag out crap nobody gives a shit about. I hope big daddy Dan Annett delivers for the great finale bc this was a big disapointment.

Yeah, the ending was GoT season 8 level trash. All that build up and he basically just went, I’m bored of this now, story ends up with, all the loyalist Titans go boom, the end!

Perty is still one of my favorites.I Always new perterabo was one of the few primarchs with his head still screwed on straight and this just proves it. I still think him,magnus,& maybe mortarion have the highest chance of turning back to the imperium (but I still wanna see magnus kick lemans pointy teeth in)

Pert had the biggest moment here; Hotus let's slip he knew about the saturnine gap. And now he sends in his reserves. Thus Purturabo sees that chaos has no control. They might have a design, they might have their games, but they are, well, chaotic. Here he sees that this is not a rebellion against a tyrant, but the corrupted theater of beings who only have their own desires ar heart. This was the moment Perty could have seriously turned back. And I'm left wondering why he didn't.

Love how Perturabo was done. And the Imperium Somnius was a beast and took on 2 Gloriana class ships and their fleets by its self. That ship would take out the Phalanx or any other ship the Imperium has. Gkad they showed its power and didn't just destroy it for no reason.

Uhhhh they appear very briefly at the end of Devastation of Baal. They are also mentioned once in Dark Imperium when someone is trying to prove to Guilliman that the Emperor is divine and grants miracles to his followers. That’s all I got.

Chapter master, the eternal crusader is with the hidden fleet in the sol system. From my research, the eternal crusader is a Gloriana ship, similar to the red tear. Unless it is there under another name.
