Thank you so much for this series on Modular Design. Really learning a lot from this. I have something that needs a little clarification. At 5:34, when we are defining columns, it all makes sense accept for the path at the very bottom of the Part Families input panel. Should the "Family Save Directory" be left as the default, or should we be adding our own path. What is the function of this directory? Please continue with this course, as I am sure it is of great benefit to so many NX users. Thanks again, much appreciated!

Hello DB-rc2or, thank you for watching. The "family storage directory" specifies where all variants created with the master part are stored. The specification can be made directly in the master parts and so it would be possible to specify a different storage directory for the variants for each master part. However, I would recommend working with the environment variable. Then all variants are saved in one folder. Of course, all variants must then have different names. The search for the desired part is usually carried out via the master part, so don't be afraid of folders with 100,000 parts. (However, the master parts can be saved in different folders). In the next tutorials I will show how components of an assembly are selected via characteristics. Names are then only for the parts list.

Thank you, everything is great! Please show a practical example of a small assembly: 1. Creating an assembly from the bottom up. 2. Creating an assembly from top to bottom.

Oh yes, the two methods from the textbook. In fact, one or the other method is rarely used exclusively. In practice, it is always a mixture of both methods. But I will respond to your request later.
