recently bought one of these as a replacement for my exos 48 , thing i noticed straight away is it better load carrier than the exos. Carrying 4-5 days food plus gear in an exos started pushing weights up to the exos's imit, and it just sat...heavy, not a game changer , but you felt it. In the flex capacitor, the same sort of weights, the 14-16 kg area, it was just a more comfortable carry. other thing i like bout it..IT STANDS UPRIGHT FOR LOADING!! dunoo how many time, when packing the exos, it would fall over, roll about, a right pita, but this just sits there. great bag

Great review and agree on your overall assessment. I used this pack recently walking the West Highland Way. I had only 2 points: 1) This bag is really really not waterproof, not even close. I understand almost no Rucksack is but I had the hip pockets flooded, the pack itself very wet (despite the useless raincover) - glad I packed everything in drybags, would have been bad otherwise. To be fair, I had tough weather, rest of Hurrican Ian hitting the Scotish cost with heavy rain 6 out of 7 days 2) I had to adjust the straps a lot during a day of hiking and I think you mentioned that as well. Other than that, great pack and it sits nicely between traditional packs and ultralight.
@WalkWithWallace2 жыл бұрын
Cheers SJ. To be honest I've come to accept that you always have to use drybags as no rucksack is waterproof unless it says it is, which isn't often for backpacking packs. The strap adjustment is a minor annoyance, overall its still a keeper for me. Sounds like you're keeping yours too?

I'm weighing up this versus Granite Gear Blaze 60. The simple lid access of Flex is appealing, however I have concerns without the option of a extendible collar, I may struggle to fit winter gear, proper first aid kit, and food for a remote 6-7 day trek. This was the case with my Cilogear 45 with full use of collar, opening out to around 60-65L (i think), with full use of deep lid pockets, but no side or waist belt pockets. I dislike an overfilled lid, but I've had to have in order to have quick access to certain gear and food in the absence of side pockets. I realise i need this sort of external storage for this type of travel.
@WalkWithWallace Жыл бұрын
If you had said summer, I'd have said you'd be fine. However for winter you may struggle with a winter trip for 6-7 days. You'd may need to look at the 60-80l version, then that'll be too big for summer. 🤷🏻♂️
@nikolaifurse7800 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the expedient reply. Do you if the 60L is the actual main compartment volume I.e not including lid and external pockets? If so, this may work as I don’t have any external pockets currently, other than a roomy lid pocket of about 5+L but I can’t fill completely when main pack is full and I’m using collar. I estimate I’m using about 60L. The other consideration is that I typically use a 2-3 water reservoir which obviously encroached on internal space. I wonder how well it can be secured in flex pack within sleeve ?
@WalkWithWallace Жыл бұрын
@@nikolaifurse7800 given how small the lid pocket is (not even 5l), I'd be surprised if that was included in the 40-60 capacity. Hi I haven't long bought one of these.. I went for a hike yesterday (15kg total weight) but I had a real hard time with pack it was as if it was bending my posture causing fatigue to my mid back, no amount of adjusting was sorting it out. Its as if the middle of pack was bending so much it was pushing my shoulders forward.. I don't understand why, I played about with all the straps for the whole Day hiking. Also I followed the fit guide on KZbin and I've picked the right size pack.. anyone else have similar issues, I've dirtied the pack now so can't send back.

That sounds really odd, hope you can sort it out alas sounds like you’ve tried everything. 😔

I was wondering if an exped flash pocket can be fit on this pack?
@WalkWithWallace2 жыл бұрын
Hi Vv, the Flash Pocket looks pretty universal so I'd say yes. However would you not be better just using the mesh pouch that comes with the FC? I suppose the Flesh Pocket is a bit bigger. 🤔

@@WalkWithWallace I haven't tried the original pocket actually, but only bcs it looked useless to me 😂

@@vvs3796 you'd probably squeeze a waterproof jacket in it, then not much else. The Flash Pocket is a good shout to be fair, the 4 hooks would wrap around the straps of the FC no bother.

have you tried GG blaze?

I haven't mate, just Googled it. They look solid, a bit heavier than the FC though. 🧐

@@WalkWithWallace yes.. and maybe more versatile.. but it s not as comfortable as flex capacitor sadly.
