Outstanding set! The Billie Holiday of bluegrass/folk/Americana. It's like I've stepped back into the 1930's and 40's listening to the radio and it's an easy Sunday afternoon in the sun.

Honestly can't thank you enough for this recording. Probably like many others, I 'discovered' Sierra through KZbin's algorithms and her transfixing performance of Rosemary on Gems. Since then, Sierra's star has risen and she's near her second produced and polished record release, which is absolutely wonderful! However, there will always be a home for her stripped down performances of earlier years. For you to share this with the world so out of nowhere... its just wonderful. An unexpected gem. Thank you!

This girl stole my heart the first time I heard her. Now I can't stand to listen to anything else, and I used to be into hard rock? Now I'm learning a completely new style ( for me)of music. I perform a lot of her songs in public and everyone loves it! ❤

Same here. Hard Rock etc can't listen to anything since I heard her. I'm 63 and given it all up for the mandolin and am learning 'I could drive you crazy' a good song for crumbly drummers and wild children alike! 😂❤

It sounds like the fiddler on her Bandcamp releases which were my first love, yeah who is that guy? This is a time capsule. I'm smote yet again. The purest form of Sierra, playing for a handful of people clapping politely and not a clue what sort of history they are witnessing.

Cold Rain and Snow. This sound takes me back to Burkville, AL, Lowndes County, 1960s, as a kid sitting on the porch of Portis’s Store across from the old community center (now the training center for the chemical plant). Just sweetness.

Who is the guy she's performing with? Anyway, it's fascinating to get this clear picture of the kind of performer Sierra was then and how she has become. She was already great, but her music has gotten deeper, emotionally, and more complex, musically. The last performance on this recording-"Goodnight Irene"-is most prophetic of where heart art is now. In the last couple of years, she has felt freer to let her voice be as beautiful as she can make it (which is about as beautiful as a human voice can get). This version of the Leadbelly song couldn't be more beautiful. And I have a feeling that performing this song for this recording may have been an important experience for her, one that helped her to grow as a musician and as a person.

"Sierra Ferrell performing Live at the Discovery Bay Detour in Port Townsend, WA in the summer of 2016. After seeing Sierra performing on the street, I asked her to perform that weekend. I recorded the show and stuck it on a hard drive and there it sat for years. A few years went by and I began seeing Sierra gaining notoriety for her amazing voice and talent as a performer. This is for any fan of Sierra that is interested in hearing a live recording of an amazingly talented performer when they were completely unknown, selling cd's wrapped in paper bags and busking on the street for tourists. In This recording Sierra sings originals and plenty of county classics. Enjoy, Austin Davis" @@elmikol2443
