Somehow, life's not fair-I've been playing guitar for years, mando for a couple...I couldn't do on my best day what she could do with two broken left fingers... My best wishes to you, Sierra, for a long and successful bluegrass career--look out, Chris Thile--the day will come soon when when you ask Sierra "how'd you DO that?!"

Hillbilly J, Perhaps you can direct me to a video of you playing Cory's break (at half his speed), flawlessly, in front of a packed IBMA audience.

It's really great to see so many young artists getting into Bluegrass. These are some of the best, as well as the members of Nickel Creek. (IMO)

My jaw needs to be put back on my face. I can play pretty well, and on a good day I can peel paint, but this? . . .it MELTED paint!
@teakbridge10115 жыл бұрын
Cory, if you are reading this you MUST know that the break you took on this song has no melody, but DOES IT ROCK OR WHAT!!??? Those crazy pull-offs at 1:01 are TOTALLY NUTS, but even better is the great riff at 2:03!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it's what you call a "virtuoso" piece, i.e. it is deliberately show-offy. So it's going to have a whole lot of notes in it, that's what it's for. It is not an indicator of what Sierra or Cory or especially Clay Hess is capable of when they're working slow (check out Hess's "I Know Why" for an incredibly sweet and simple gospel tune).
@westlag15 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing she left the guitar and banjo behind more than once during that piece- LOL
