In this video I depart my camp at Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, CA. I drive about 60 miles north to Bishop, CA. I head up into the hills of the Inyo National Forest and find a beautiful camp at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. I explore around and cook up dinner on the camp stove. I take a swim in a natural spring!
Thank you for being here.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
Thanks for watching!

The fun part is that area of the Sierra Nevada is chock-full of natural springs, mostly _hot_ springs. Along and around Long Valley it is quite tectonically and volcanically active.

The water coming up through the sand looked like something out of a Sci-Fi/Horror film. I kept expecting some creature to crawl out and attach itself to your face. Happy to see that didn't happen.

Nice shots of the Sierra mountains in the background, can't go wrong with those next to your campsite. If you'd like to escape the heat in the future, you can go to the ancient bristlecone pines out of Big Pine taking hwy138. Yay Bishop, got to do the Schat's bakery run or the homemade Jerky house on the way out of town heading north. And you can't go wrong with spaghetti !! Okay, take care and safe travels.

Brain you really have your own rhythm when it comes to van life and editing. It is slow paced and very relaxing for me to watch and enjoy. I really do miss 395 and the treasures along the way. Hopefully by year end I would be fit enough to go back up there again.

The last three times I've gone back to SoCal from WA I've made a point of taking US-395 along the eastern Sierra instead of the coast or Central Valley. Call me nuts but I've always thought that the east side of the state is hands-down the most beautiful and idyllic -- especially if you like dry air, peace, and serenity.
