Slow, ethical fashion is something I really wish I could afford. I know that they last longer and it's an investment, but I really just can't afford clothes like this. Maybe one day when I'm a real adult I'll get pieces like this!
@duck61004 жыл бұрын
You could try Lucy & Yak. The jeans and bottoms are ~£50 but a lot of the tops are in the £15 range which is H&M pricing. I've seen other brands with similar price points as well, L&Y is just what I can think of off the top of my head. If it's still too expensive then thrifting is obviously the way to go. Lots of my favourite pieces of clothing are from places like depop (I'm in the UK, we have no thrift stores). You don't need a whole ethical wardrobe to start being more ethical. To be honest, the best thing we can do is reduce consumption all together. The issue isn't with people buying fast fashion who genuinely need the clothes but with the people that binge buy fast fashion they don't need and will end up throwing it away or barely wearing it.
@TheBeenQueen4 жыл бұрын

Universal Standard is one of those brands that when I look at their clothes on the site, I'm underwhelmed. BUT I have gotten several mystery boxes from them and every piece from them is my favorite version of that piece. Fave black t-shirt? US. Fave crewneck sweatshirt? US. Fave black jeans? US. Fave ribbed dress? US. They are so worth trying because the quality is insane. I still get heartburn at the prices, but that is because I have been trained for so long that I should never buy something full price. They do have great sales and highly recommend the mystery boxes!
@kimberlystewart89804 жыл бұрын
Just know, they have a VERY strict exchange policy. You get ONLY 1 for a calendar year, so if you do buy online thinking that fit liberty is a fantastic option, they are actually LESS flexible than almost any other brand I have purchased from. if you get the wrong size, you get one shot at getting the correct one. If you guess wrong, they will refuse any further exchanges or refunds. I have been told, and other women in a fat women's community I'm in have been told, that we should buy 3 pairs of $90 pairs of jeans and return the ones that don't fit. Universal Standard is for sure a status brand. I love their stuff. I will say they don't hold up better than cheaper brands. They do fit fat bodies better. Just be warned if you make the leap to full price purchasing. I no longer purchase from them because I know too many young women in NYC who have been really harmed by their exchange policies on tight budgets. Edited to add: I don't think any policy where folks end up with new clothes they can't wear is ecologically sound.

It's a great price for a piece that was made out of quality fabric by people who are being paid a living wage and working in good conditions.

I’m would never judge anyone on there budget for clothes so I totally get why you may not spend that much money but I also think it’s so important to remember clothing honestly shouldn’t be that cheap endless bought second had

This video showed up randomly for me and it was 100% what I needed. As a plus size, short person, I absolutely despise clothing shopping. Nothing fits and what does fit is unflattering. Thank you so much for showing me there are brands out there that may just have clothing I can buy and enjoy wearing.

I was 20% paying attention (listening while shopping on the Lululemon website) and I heard you talking about the first suit and recency bias so I switched over. And OMG THAT SUIT ON YOU!!!! You look like a Charlie's Angel! Honestly, if I found a suit that looked so good, I would reconsider whether real clothes are even worth it anymore.

I'd love to see an all white swimsuit haul from different brands to see what white swimsuit is the best. I can never find a white swimsuit thats flattering or doesn't go see through in the water. I know summer is almost over but maybe next season.

she should keep the linen top and become close with a Tailor. unless you get clothes made for you specifically, having a tailor can customize that shirt for her.

Yeees - Lucy & Yak, my all time fave! I have so many pairs of dungarees by them, they are so comfy and colouful. Their trousers are also amazing, especially the soft cotton elasticated waist ones.
