@bjskinne343 жыл бұрын
I just wish some of these sustainable/ethical brands were more cost friendly. I could NEVER spend 80+$ on a crew neck.
@jostewart31923 жыл бұрын
The thing is is that that’s the price of sustainability and ethicality. We’ve been so conditioned for years with fast fashion to pay a small price for something- but it’s that cheap because the fabric is non-sustainable, they don’t pay their workers and they don’t offset any of their environmental damages. If we weren’t so used to get $20 crewnecks and knew the real price of making it, it would be far easier for us (emotionally) to shell out that amount of money. However, I’m as broke as you. A $30 crew neck is too much for me lmao! That’s why it’s important to either prioritise your purchases and save up (if you wear that crewneck sweater 30 times, you’re paying $2 for that sweater every time) or you very intentionally buy ‘fast fashion’ pieces. Over here in Aus, Kmart and Cotton On have started implementing the ‘better cotton initiative’ which is where they source cotton responsibly. It’s a great first step and it’s cheap as chips.
@jostewart31923 жыл бұрын
Oh and thrifting!

We have to look at is as an investment.. it’s not something you have to replace after a couple years like you would a T-shirt from target or forever 21.
@greytgreytx3 жыл бұрын
@@gabrielal6872 If you have the $80 up front, then that is something you can consider. But there's a whole truth that it takes money to save money, and that being poor is expensive. Sometimes you need a new shirt, and you only have $7. I've committed to buying second hand or receiving hand-me-downs because I don't want to add to fast fashion waste, but I also can't spend this kind of money on new and sustainably-made stuff. At least I'm keeping something out of a landfill for a few years, and unless I trash it, I'll pass it on to someone else.

@sarahluvburkhardt57553 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The clothes were extremely underwhelming. I love basics but there are little details they could change about basic pieces to help give it a pop and help make it more chic such as changing the cut of the collar or the sleeves. Also for the prices I expect not just the quality of the fabric to be good but also the hem/pattern to be better. A few of the tops looked like the actual cut was no different than a lot of fast fashion brands, such as the cut under the arms, shoulders, and so on. I’m not referring necessarily to the style but more of the way it’s constructed.
@ellenvoyage5943 жыл бұрын

I don't think it's about wether it's ugly or not, but it just isn't a creative cut or style in my opinion. I really don't see how anybody can justify spending 300 for such a basic design, ethically made or not to be honest. Sustainability and Ethics don't have have _this_ price point. If I'm going to a seamstress and asking for a little white short, it will certainly not cost me a 150, although it would be as unique as I want. Nevermind I just saw her try it on and it looked ill fitting as well. Makes it even worse

They also have a swap function. If you return some of their clothes in that bag (even if they're totally trashed/altered/etc) you get a pretty hefty credit towards future purchases.

$179 top and $139 for bottoms - oh my goooooooooodness. I typically don't judge when people buy expensive clothes and usually roll my eyes when I see comments from other people hating one the price. But something about this set just killed me - so expensive and it was so average at best.
