I know im a bunch of your old videos you would say I don’t like big T-shirts or something because they are unflattering. Love you and will always support you 🥰 💚💚💚

If there’s anything that proves that fashion “rules” are ridiculous, it’s that loose-fitting, white/horizontal striped t-shirt dress that looks just adorable and effortless on you (I think the length was perfect which made it look cute and sassy rather than shapeless). I thought everything you wore looked great!

The thing that opened my eyes about how I talk about myself was when I was trying on bathing suits with my daughter (who is only 11 months) in the dressing room. I would never say or want to hear herself say those things about her, so why would I allow myself to say mean things about me and my body?

I have 2 young girls, 6 and 8 and I NEVER belittle my body in front of them. It’s been a hard thing to stop doing but they will jiggle my belly or ask why my thigh is bumpy (cellulite) and I just say “mommy’s fat”. Not in a derogatory way, ever. Just “this is what my body shape is and I’m ok with it” kind of way. I already see media teaching them things I HATE and I just pray I never add to it. Hearing you say that your insecurities were highest when you were “thinner” and obsessing over your body was so validating. Sometimes it’s hard to explain that if I hyper focus on my body and losing weight it makes me hate my body even more because I’m constantly comparing it to some better “future me” which doesn’t exist

Honestly this video made me cry. I’m realizing how often I stand looking at myself in the mirror telling my body “I wish you were different.” Even amidst other people, I find myself thinking “wow she’s tiny, why can’t I look like that?” It puts this barrier in my mind that prevents me from truly experiencing the joy of being present with people I love. Seeing you jump around the pool with your husband and just the joy and freedom you had where a barrier like that is not there got me real choked up.

Story time: I started modeling about a year ago. Yesterday, I worked with a photographer who was SO GREAT! Before we started shooting, the photographer asked me what I was insecure about. His mentality was that if we take a beautiful picture, he doesn't want me getting fixated on one aspect or a certain way part of my body looks. And he told me, "I know this won't change how you feel or see yourself, but you are beautiful and we're gonna make some amazing art today." It was just so great to have a photographer level with me and meet me at where I'm at in my -body confidence journey.- And he was right, we did create some stunning images!

She may have concord the "strapless" insecurity, but that doesn't mean she is going to wear all strapless swim suits all the time. I grew up mixed Japanese, and when lacy style ‘kimonos’ became trendy in the US, I remember being so frustrated that they were called that. Not even offended, just confused...because that’s not what a kimono is? So it’s really nice to hear someone address that.
@dezs.52022 жыл бұрын
That’s a massive relief to me. I have some sort of speaking problem, and certain words are just major tongue twisters for me when I try to use them in a sentence. “Kimono” is one of those words, and I wear those little cardigan wraps all the time, so when I first heard them be called that, I was alarmed 😅

I remember back when I was at my lowest confidence point, I used to wear high waisted skinny jeans with a loose graphic tee on top, not tucked in or anything. And I'd think it looks ok like that but it was showing my body too much so I'd wear an oversized flannel on top untied. Throughout the day, I'd feel more and more insecure especially because when I'm walking the flannel wouldn't be covering me as much because of the wind. I'd end up tying up all the buttons on the flannel and I can't believe I used to do that because it looked extra bad like that but all I wanted was to disappear. I had that same outfit every day in slight colour variations. It hurts me to know that I felt that way during those 2-3 years of high school, I was so beautiful and my body was perfectly normal. Today I wear crop tops and short shorts and I love my body on most days. Thank you Sierra for helping us all through our own journeys by letting us see yours

THIS VIDEO. wow. Sierra, I watched this once and then had my mom watch it with me. We have had so many discussions about fashion standards for midsize(me) and plus size(mom) body types and have definitely created some of these fashion fears. your constant reassurance and reminders that this is a process but that "your body isn't a problem area" legitimately made my mom tear up. We actually decided together that we would go shopping (our first time out of the house) for some new clothes for college that will make me feel confident style wise, not just fit wise. I actually got a few oversized tees (that I am SO excited about), a really cute white linen button down shirt (super similar to the ones you like to wear) and some other things which came directly from this video... Thank you for sharing such a positive message on your platform, I applaud you for this video and everything you have done to make all of your fans self-confidence journeys a little less lonely. I see what you mean. In general, japanese people who never lived outside of japan get excited whenever they see foreigners use our words, but people who lived abroad and know about cultural appropriation get offended. I personally felt annoyed whenever someone said kimono, because 99% they're not talking about japanese kimono, but I got used to it. Now I can see that it's alright to use the word as you don't have the intention of disrespecting our culture. I'm surprised that crop tops are an insecurity but I guess I understand. It took me a while to get to wearing them but now they're one of my favorite things to wear. I think it's so flattering on my body to wear a tight crop top with bigger, flowy pants or shorts. I encourage you all to try a crop top!!

I’ve had a really rough body image week this week, I’ve spent hours every day not being about to stop thinking about my body, I’ve undereaten and felt guilty for eating, and I haven’t even been able to look in the mirror without getting super upset- I even didn’t brush my teeth one night because I couldn’t handle having to look in the mirror of 2 minutes. This video made me feel much better- just like your channel always does. It’s so helpful to realize that everyone has insecurities and I don’t care about everyone else’s body, so odds are they don’t care about mine.

I just got some new stretch marks on my body and I'm having a hard time dealing with them. I tried to find some content about how stretch marks are okay and normal, just to make myself feel better or whatever, but it's just so hard! All the videos I can find are of people telling me how to get rid of strech marks. Idk, just a suggestion of a topic you could touch in some future video, because the internet is definetly lacking some positive content about this.

I never understood the chat around stretch marks and how to remove them, because to me they're just like scars and I've never felt insecure about a scar. Bodies grow and change, and it's all natural. Most people are more worried about their own insecurities than others', and if they're not they're truly not worth your time. If it helps, I have a lot of stretch marks and I've been asked what they are and how I got them, but no one has ever said anything mean to me or made me feel bad about having them. In fact, they often end up telling me they have a bunch of them themselves.

I don't shave my armpits anymore I just "cut" the hair with my boyfriends hair buzzer because everytime I shaved them it was so itchy growing back that I (in my sleep) scratched myself bloody, but I just kept on shaving anyway because "that's what you are supposed to do" until my boyfriend told me to just stop if it caused me pain afterwards. So now I rock my Tanktops and sleeveless dresses with only "buzzed" armpits. Also regarding the skin tight tanktop / crop top I stuggle with it but kinda "force" myself to wear it and just repeat to myself it isn't something bad if people can guess where my belly button is underneath, it's not like they don't have one of their own anyway so🤷♀️

A fashion fear for me is jeans because even though they are super cute and a staple for my aesthetic, they make me feel chubbier because they tend to feel tighter which makes me feel like I’m “too big” to look good in them. I LOVE THIS!!!!! This made me think of clothing fears I had - sleeveless tops, dresses, tube tops, anything that exposed my shoulders, wide arms, & wider chest area. I always covered it with cardigans until I tried on a cute tank top and realized I look really good just the way I was. Or wearing shorts, feeling so self concious about my cellulite after I gained a lot of weight within these past years. I can definitely relate to your video and will be something I can look at back. Your videos are amazing and really has gotten me back to loving myself now as a size 29 now compared to when I was a size 25-27 years back. Love u so much

Honestly Sierra, this is the best video you’ve ever made and one of the best videos I’ve watched in awhile. This is my favorite kind of content and I really wish there was more of this message spread around for others to see. Everyone should feel like they can wear whatever they want to wear. (as long as it’s not a swastika or confederate symbol..duh...) More people should feel confident about themselves, see their value and worth by remembering you are not a number on a scale or the size of your clothes, but a person with a heart and personality. Also you and Steven are adorable! I hope you and your family are happy and living your best lives!
