Something I want to put in a separate comment than my other one, is that tbh Sierra is the most real youtuber here. She's not fake, overly done up and just looks so natural for us. She's just living, and she doesn't feel like other Cali youtubers that are in their own bubble. She's educated and smart and her content while is beauty, is a more natural beauty everyone can appreciate. I love this type of beauty channel and I can't get this anywhere else. (Other beauty channels are very exaggerated, bougie, kinda sexual and sometimes a bit fake. No hate to them as I can enjoy them sometimes but it's overly abundant and repetitive.) Sierra's channel is unique and very pure basically.

Vlog. Definitely vlog if you mentally and physically can. Whether you share it on the channel or not, the time goes by so fast. Between being tired and baby’s schedule, one day you look down and you suddenly have a four month old and you wish you indulged a little more in the newborn phase which can be hard when you’re trying to adjust to parenthood and breastfeeding every two hours and postpartum. The videos will be nice to look back on, even if they’re just for you.

Maternity leave in my country is a whole year, then you get additional 50 weeks to use as you please until the child is 10 years of age (for when they get ill or whatever you need) So you taking three months off is really not a lot, don’t feel bad ❤️ we’ll still be here!

Very nice. Canada also lets you choose 12 months at 55% or 18 months at 33% pay

What country is this? Maternity leave in the States is ridiculous (usually we get 6 weeks at 80% pay plus you can usually use any vacation you've banked for 100% pay. Anything you take and don't have banked hours for is unpaid and your job is not protected.) We have to go back to work while our bodies are still traumatized. It is so hard.

@@laceym3662 Spain gives 16 paid weeks to both parents. I believe the 1st 6 weeks both have to take it at the same time and the rest you choose how, so if one takes the extra 10 weeks then the other has 10 weeks after that. There is also 15 extra days for breastfeeding and you are allowed to add your paid holidays after that. So that total add to 10 months. Other countries have it better but I cant complain

I think it's great that you're going to be on maternity leave. People who are able to work from home sometimes blur the lines between work life and home life, so it's important to show that schedules are necessary when you work from home and especially when you're first time parents with a new born. I'll still watch your channel when you come back from maternity leave. I think you shouldn't have to worry about that too much...your baby, your mental health and your marriage are the most important.

If Sierra was English then she might have had her first dose due to being pregnant (we don't have the J&J vaccine here I believe), but it's unlikely Stephen would have had his first dose unless partners of pregnant people are getting vaccinated

Take all the time you need! You will know when you are ready! On the flip side of that also don’t feel pressured to NOT come back earlier if you need to have an outlet during those first few months. For my own mental health it was important to me to have “something” that made me feel like me. I felt like such a horrible mother even thinking that and so I really struggled with PPD with my first. I felt so isolated and terrified to say out loud that it wasn’t 100% amazing to be full time in mama zone. With my second I gave myself some grace and had a few things I could do that made me feel plugged in to the world and it helped my PPD so so so much. I live in rural middle of nowhere Ohio and when I was getting groceries the other day they literally announced over the loud speaker if anyone wanted a free covid vaccine they were ready and available in the pharmacy so just walk up! P.S. I think your taking the perfect approach to maternity leave! Take a break from the main channel and pick up the camera to capture and document any of the little moments to just have remembered on your vlog channel. Even if you record a bit and send it off to edit you will be glad to have the memories while she's so tiny and the flexibility to do it whenever you want.

We decided on 18 since I'm now on bed rest until baby is born (29 wks 4 days and thank god my labour is stopping and my Drs are optimistic about me going home in a couple days) and I want max time with baby once they're here. I don't know whether you're familiar with Tim and Jen Tracker, but they had this same situation a year and a half ago. I felt like they handled it very well, and they did it similarly to what you're planning: They just went dark. And then they came back later, at first with his doing most of the videos (it was originally his channel), then her getting more involved as the baby got older. And people stuck around. Kudos to your family for giving you all a chance to hang out together and bond. Super excited for you.
