Pro tip, even tho she’ll be sleeping in your room at night. Try to put her down for naps I’m her crib as much as possible during the day. It’ll get her used to that room and makes transition way easier later :)
@nbt18563 жыл бұрын
It’s not always hard, my baby stayed in my room for naps and at night for 2 years, he now sleeps like a log in his own bed in his own room. Babies regulate their own breathing better when they’re in the room with their parents but like with everything it’s personal choice :)

I completely agree wit that tip Sierra!! (I’ll explain y in a no)... But another tip is to never keep it completely quiet while baby sleeps so that ur not tip toeing around... I will add that if u didn’t want to do those there is nothing wrong wit that... Every parent does things a lil differently n u will find what works best for you as u go along... I will say It is extremely hard to do wen it’s ur first baby but u will get there... I promise u will Personally I didn’t do that the first time round wen I had my daughter n she was always either sleeping right next to me or napping in my arms... Because of that it took us an age to get her to sleep in her room n wasn’t fully successful until Zara-Jane hit 4 yrs old n we redecorated her room n bought her her 4 poster bed Wit my son my midwife started to talk to me about the importance of sleep for both me n baby (weather it’s in the same room or not) because it was causing real bad anxiety for me as the birth got nearer because of how it went wit Zara-Jane... After birth the health visitor recommended putting him in his crib in his room to nap wen I was up n about n could keep an eye on him as he was born wit health problems that he either had fixed wit an op or he grew out of in the first 3 months of life... Luckily Oliver started sleeping all the way thro the night at around 4-5 months n by 6 months his health visitor gave us the all ok (health wise) to have him sleeping in his own room... xxx

NEW PARENT TIP: when putting on mattress protector, double up mattress protector and sheet mattress protector and sheet again. when she pee's through (or later wakes up getting sick cause that's gonna happen to all parents at least once) you can just take off the first set and the next is already set up.

This was the best piece of parenting advice I ever got and I tell absolutely everyone to do this! We even ended up doubling up on our own bed because the kids ended up sleeping with us so much. Mom tip: look through your bigger sizes before they’re actually ready to go into them because you’ll find baby brands to be just as dumb as adult sizes and some run really big/small. Just bc it says 3-6mo doesn’t mean it will fit them then. Some also shrink a lot so I suggest washing the bigger sizes to see if they shrink:)
@FunnierInGallifreyan3 жыл бұрын
Was coming here to say this! Also my baby ended up being huge and at 6 weeks almost fits into 3-6 month and I'm so glad I washed everything when I was still pregnant because I do not have the time to do it now!

100% agree, my baby is 6months and still fits in 3-6, 6m, and 9m clothes 😐 and some of the 9m are almost too small but the 3-6 are a little baggy 🤬

Definitely agree and babies also grow so fast. My son measured small throughout the pregnancy and was born below the 25th centile but he still outgrew the newborn clothes in few weeks and I have a feeling the 0-3 month stuff is gonna get snug long before the 3 month mark.

I think separating clothes by size is a good idea but you may want to compare the actual sizes of items rather than just going off the tags. Just like adults different brands sizing is different and sometimes a 3-6 item will be more like a 0-3 and you could miss out on using it if it's in the larger item box! Also babies have different body shapes too so you may have to experiment to see if things are too long/short when fitting width wise (you may end up with a favorite sleeper brand)

Tip for memories keeping as baby grows. Before my first daughter was born I had a pre-baby date at build a bear where I built her first teddy bear. I then dressed it months later after she had out grown the hospital outfit she came home in. I also did this for the outfit she wore in her first birthday photos and another time for a fave outfit I had dressed her in often. I did this for both my girls. The baby doll clothes they used were outfits they had worn that I loved and couldn't part with, lol. Now at 19 & 21, both my daughters are still in love with these stuffed toys and think it's so cool they wear fave outfits that they once fit into themselves. Awesome way to not only save keepsake clothes but also use and appreciate them. Both my children recently shared how excited they were to use them in their future baby's rooms. Hope this helps :-)

Absolutely beautiful. I love your organization! A tip, as you get used to baby girl's size and the dimensions of the clothing that fits her, ALWAYS take a few minutes to check through the next size up--about once a week. As we know, marked sizes can be total garbage in accuracy. I was devastated a couple times when my children missed soooo cute outfits because they were smaller than they were marked. God bless you and keep you all. My favorite aspect of tending babies was breast feeding. It is literally a "God thing!" Tip #2, La Leche League and their book, "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" are amazingly helpful--both my sister and I would not have succeeded without their help.❤❤❤❤

Recommendation for clothing that worked for us: I see you rolling the clothes, I always rolled “outfits” (onesie and pants/shorts) together for our daughter so if my hubby needed to get her dressed he didn’t have to worry about matching things 😂 (we decided to try this after a few mismatched outfits) seemed to work for us and it kept it easy to refill the diaper bag because we could quickly pull out a new outfit and go. Your organization is so similar to mine when my kids were babies! I've gone through a lot of size swamping so one tip is to designate a spot (a bin, drawer, box in a closet) for stuff they grew out of. When I try something on them and I realize oh this is too small now, you want a place to toss it so it doesn't get back into the "current" stuff and waste your time again later. Then you can go through that bin when its full for hand-me-downs for a friend, donations or whatever :) PS: I never bothered hanging stuff up for my babies. I found I very quickly forgot about anything that wasn't right at my fingertips in the drawers. I never had folded up baby clothes get too wrinkles or messed up, no matter how nice of an item it was. And life it too short to not just dress them up in the "nice" thing on a random tuesday!

A good I was given when my son was a new born and found really useful was keeping a pair of basic shorts (or even leggings ) in the back seat pocket of the car and even a shirt, just incase baby is in a onesie without legs or short sleeves, just to pop on quickly so she doesn’t get seatbelt burns/chaffing. It can happen even on the quickest trip when babies harness is done up tight enough that you can’t pinch it (which is how tight it needs to be for safety). Also remember you as little layers between baby’s skin and the harness when in the car seat or else the harness can not work correctly to keep baby safe, as the layers can compress in an accident.

Being able to weigh the baby will help with nursing. Weigh freshly diapered baby with no clothes on, nurse, then weigh immediately after in the same diaper and it'll help you know if she's getting enough and how much she's getting. So the changing station is perfect for that. I wish I knew it existed. I hope it works great for you. :)
@Charis65403 жыл бұрын
Do moms actually do this lol, let’s disturb the baby by taking their clothes off and then feed them and they will probably fall asleep then strip them back down to weigh them, believe me they will let you know if they are getting enough and with all the growth spurts etc... they will eat more frequently at times
@nelicora3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I really disagree with this. This puts so much stress on nursing. Rest assured baby will get enough. It's fine to check the weight from time to time, but if baby gains weight please safe yourself this stress. Nursing is the most natural thing in the world, it usually works fine without controlling amounts. Besides, the amount really doesn't say much about the contents. Baby could get a lot of watery foremilk or a little very rich colostrum. Trust your body and eat healthy yourself. Breastfeeding can be quite the struggle (already without obsessing over weight), but sticking with it really is worthwhile. Good luck to all new mommas out there, you are amazing!
@melissakessler773 жыл бұрын
No need to weigh - just put a stack of 8 diapers out each day. If she’s peeing and pooping her way through them, she’s getting enough. 😊

I LOVE the nursery, Sierra! I watched the Mr. Kate video, and when I saw the room, I immediately thought it's so you and Stephen. I can't believe Baby Girl is almost here! Thank you for including us in this journey.

I stoped everything I was doing to watch this! As a mom of three (obviously 🤪) that breastfed all 3 of them for over a year I think a changing pad that shows the weight is awesome. I can see how it could bring on anxiety but with my second we had a lot of trouble gaining weight at first and also had jaundice. It would’ve been so so nice to be able to weigh her that easily at home! Super cool! Can’t wait for baby girl!!! 💕💕💕💕

Listen i thought the belly band was a “funny odd new trend thing” until I got about 25weeks with my 4th child. And now I wonder why I NEVER GOT ONE WITH THE OTHERS! It’s amazing!

We purchased the owlet for our baby girl before she was born and it was the best purchase for our peace of mind (people said the same things about it as they did with the hatch scale). As long as you keep in mind that as long as she is following her curve it won't cause too much anxiety. Anyhoo, what I'm trying to say is it all depends on the person.

Rushed to the Mr Kate site before watching your recording. Wow!!! Love the room - especially .... everything 😀 I love the way in which you organised Baby Girl’s things in the dresser. I love having things organised (so easy to find stuff that way) so it gave me a warm feeling to see that you also felt the same way 😉 Btw - love your braids. Not only is it a useful hairstyle for when Baby Girl is here but is also very, very flattering.

So, I enjoyed this so much that I just started watching it again. That is when it suddenly dawned on me that you might want to have some extra sleepers/onesies and swaddles in your bedroom for those middle of the night blowouts or diaper leaks. That way you won’t have to leave your bedroom in the middle of the night. I’m so excited for you and Steven. My little one just got accepted to UCSD and your baby vlogs bring back precious memories. 💕💕💕
