My personal tips: When facing a mob, try position yourself facing them, meaning dont be in the centre, even though stationary dodge works with most hits, you can end up being overwhelmed and unable to find a balance between striking and dodging. Another tip for mobs is take out the weaker characters first, they can be really annoying with throwing bottles and piling up on you when you trying to fight an elite or someone with a weapon. When it comes to brutes, they really not as bad as most people initially experience them, dodging down works against almost all their attacks for mini-bosses, study their patterns, they usually have a pattern or either "high-high-high-sweep" or "sweep-high-high" etc... and lastly, try set goals for your levels, for me personally after getting stuck at the club boss, i made it my goal to be below 22 going into the club, then after mastering the club, i said not to go above 30, etc.

Yea as he said take it slowly with goals in mind, once you learn the game and the mechanics it is so much fun. After 12 hours of playing, I can do a start to the end of the game in one run with doing the entire levels.

Left and right are the same as down, if anyone tries this hit the stick left & right and then try just down it’s the same animation….they made it so hitting down is for all upper attacks and hitting it up is for lower ones and yes If you have the timing right you can actually dodge anyones attack. Matter of fact the final boss is mainly dodging

I swear the high attack still hit me using left and right - and then the direct charged punches hit me when using down. Gunna have to experiment a bit!

@@Stryftek Yeah like that palm thrust move (mainly thinking of the two assholes before sean) i swear cant be dodged downwards, i mean maybe you can, but it SEEMS like a left or right dodge instead of just down

@@james5076 In my experience the two mfs outside Sean are completely dodgeable downwards. The problem is that their palm (third) attacks are a bit delayed. Just way a sec before dodging and you'll be golden.

@@james5076 Trust me all of those attacks can be dodged, including the last blow with a downward dodge. I thought exactly thesame thing with these enemies. Could have sworn during my first run of level 2 the final punch can't be dodged. In reality it can, you just need the right timing.

@@mantvis581 yea what he said. Theres a slight delay for their third hit... If you account for it correctly you can dodge it with "down" just fine. But it does seem like the "side" dodge works better for high attcks from the weaker enimies.

Another useful tip is when you are being overwhelmed- tap R2 on PS5 or RT on Xbox repeatedly. This will have you quickly move around and out of the way, dashing if you will. It has helped me get out of tough situations.

Actually always dodging back (pressing s on keyboard while holding spacebar) does the same as left and right dodge I noticed -- only problems are low kicks

actually you cannot dodge with "s" the girl n the guy before the fighter boss, you have to spam "d" or "a" :d

Yeah, Space + S is the go to until you know the enemy is doing a low, or against Elites

@@junjunsay93 for that big guys if you happen to have a weapon nearby grab one spam heavy attack on them and you’ll literally get a free finisher just be careful nobody is attacking you while you’re doing it. Mostly just spam heavy for big dudes and you’ll get the easy takedown

Sure you could spam evade but that doesn't really make you look like a kung fu master. The true joy of this combat system is getting to the point where you don't even walk during a fight. You just wait until someone throws a punch and then next thing you know 11 goons are rolling on the floor clutching different body parts.

Ive learned to be more accurate with my dodges after CONSTANTLY REPLAYING THE SAME 2 LEVELS, but before i would just spam weave or spam the block button and hope to dodge or parry

Really? Huh, my experience has been different. They teach UP and DOWN for the high and low - but on the 1st boss (and other enemies) like to throw a charged MID kick that up and down didn't seem to work for. So I figured out left and right. So a fight system with HIGH, MID, and LOW made sense. /shrug - I've find it has been working for me at least :-)

I prefer to block just in time like in sekiro. barely takes your 'posture' meter. It stagger the npc on the second successful block

Pressing the stick down, left or right does the same things for all of them, namely; dodge any attack that isn't a sweep or attack on your legs. Dodging attacks aimed at your feet is simple to dodge as well; press up. (Yes, it can be hard to learn how and when to dodge these but that is half the fun, right?) What you're trying to teach is just spam to win. It takes mostly all enjoyment out of the game imo, and I would advise anybody playing this game to just learn how to dodge the normal way. It will help you improve way better than using this method which is just spam dodge... No offense :P

The goal was more to explain how the dodge works and showcase how easy it is to use - not so say you should just spam it. But the game will also teach that - it likes to beat you unto you get good, lol.

@@BiggWillps2 Ohh I get it now. You were thinking about matching the dodge direction to the attack direction in order to dodge it. That would make it much easier to memorize the attack direction. Wanna dodge all upper attack? Push the left stick up to literally face the attack head on psychologically but the character will dodge it, same with lower attack. I think Slow Clap can easily implement it with a patch. The dodge control can be put within the game setting. However, I could also see why Slow Clap did it this way because in real life, you would want to dodge AWAY from the attack instead of facing it head on, unless you want to get punch in the face or get sweep off your feet and fall on your butt.

I really only have one tip for combat: practice, practice and practice. I must of gone over The Squats about two dozen times. I mastered it completely. I knew where every enemy was and how to beat the boss without dying once. It is the best thing to do on the long term. You play it time and time again, try things out, learn from your mistakes and study the skill tree. Once you've got it all down, move to the next level. Set objectives too. My first one was to finish Squats with less that three deaths. Now it's to be under twenty five after the Club. It's all about practice and learning from your mistakes.

This information is wrong, dodging left and right does not exist in this game if you dodge left or right it just makes him do the standard downward dodge, and this can dodge any attack in the game except low attacks, for which you use the upward dodge

There is one thing I try to do so far, which is not only holding the dodge button but I will also use the dash along side it to put more distance as I dodge as well before quickly dashing in or using an unlocked forward moving attack to regain the distance

Finally somebody said it ! Thank you so much. When I first got the game I discovered it , well I had been in Martial arts for about 20 years. And one thing you find out is that (there is only so many ways the body can move) Once you know that then EVERY enemy real life or in game becomes a book on a shelf at the library - -you deal deal with them whenever you want quiet time...group or single. What I did in game was actually press block while dodging , so if I actually dodged (into) a punch I still would not get hit.I went through 3 masters without buying NO ADVANTAGES from the tree ever. I had to stop playing because of motion sickness..that camera is a motherfucker.

the game wants you to stop progressing and learn every attack pat, they attack so fast and so randomly the only way to fully dodge something is to know what's coming. it's my main issue with the game it's less skill/reaction based and more have you played the game before? miss a parry? oh well you were too foucsed on the timeing you have no idea what attack was even thrown and if they will do more than 1. atlest it isn't like asolver depending on where the camera would end up your control would change but here in sifu up is always jump dodge no matter where your faceing it dosen't randomly become a dunk

Dodging has been the main thing I needed to learn. Once I got better at it I noticed an immediate improvement overall The tutorials Definitely could have been slightly better. I and others have been struggling to dodge the big guy's grab and I think it's because the one tutorial you get for that tells you how to do it but doesn't tell you the timing, it just pauses time until you dodge it.

The beginning dodge tip reminds me of Metal Gear Rising: Revengance. You could do the same exact thing and it basically breaks the game and makes it UBER easy.

Ducking strike is the best move for the long legged chicks. It stops just about any attack they have. Wait for her to advance toward you and shoot the ducking strike out (Fwd, Fwd, light). Hits them every time. Works really well if you follow with a push trip (Bck, Fwd, light, heavy) 👍🏾

@@Stryftek yea one-on-one thats a fool-proof plan 👍🏾 But a little later in the game when its her and 4 or 5 other people in a room, it can get a little hectic lol. That "crotch punch" tactic definitely comes in handy then (I was saying the wrong name its crotch punch, not ducking strike). The range takes some getting used to, but it comes out faster than any strike in the game. And you can chain it into combos. In fact, once you get used to how it works it almost breaks the game lol.

I love this game. Many people complaining about that it‘s too hard, but for me it‘s just one of the best Action Fighting Games ever. I don‘t think it‘s too hard, except for the last boss. I already finished it 3-4 Times, my last walktrough took like not even 2 hours. Maybe in the first 4-5 hours i had to grind a little bit, but after that I made that game look easy. I think this game is tough but fair, and not a shitty rouglike system like Returnal. Returnal has a nice gameplay and graphics, but who has the time to always start from the Beginning, and lose everything? I think THAT game is too hard! Sometimes there are shortcuts, but sometimes you have to shoot through the levels just to reach the third Boss and get your ass kicked in round 2, and everything from beginning again.

I actually had less problem with returnal than this. Returnal seemed more fair to me, as you are always rewarded with health and weapons and revives

I found out it's better to just block the low sweep attacks rather using the low dodge or impulsively using the actual dodge only to myself eat the dirt. This works surprisingly well with sean's second phrase where he'll mostly starts with a low sweep or a push then a low sweep so you can either dodge that push or block it and then block the second sweep then let the dodge work for you for the rest of the moves which is super easy to exploit. The Gain Focus and Structure through Dodging complements a lot so long as you practice dodging.

I can't dodge for the life of me. I can generally see hits coming from a mile away, but I can't tell if I'm pressing things too quickly for the character to keep up or if I'm just not understanding the time window to successfully deflect. With enough effort, I can make it to the boss in my 20s, but so far, I've never been able to beat the boss more than once in my 60s cuz I can't figure out how to duck and weave in those tiny response windows. To be fair, I've only played it for a few hours.

That's what a lot of people are saying. For whatever reason dodging down for attacks that aren't down just doesn't feel right to me and I get hit. Yet left and right clicks and works. So whatever works for you is best!!!

Sifu only becomes Playable IF you spent countless hours Unlocking Permanent Upgrades...then SUDDENLY it becomes an Arcade Game from the 90s/00s......they literally just took an Arcade Game, stripped it of Playability, then said "git gud newb" as a taunt and called it a game....THAT is what Sifu is... It is not art or anything like that. It is an Arcade Game stripped of the things that made it Playable before Saving allowed for Masochism.

I dont want to be that guy, but you are actually dodging down in most of those. I think it has something to do with the camera angle. It always fucks me over with Sean, where I try to duck under and end up dodging left or right and get clocked.

thanks for sharing this, idk why this wasnt explained better in the tutorial... i did not know you could dodge left to right... i often will push the down dodge because most often you'll be getting punches and high kicks thrown at you, but then the inevitable sweep kick comes and i get knocked on my ass. every. single. time... 🤦‍♂😭

Yeah, there's no button for that... The camera sort of does what it wants. Hence why I went mouse and keyboard. It is easier to quickly move it around.

Great video man! Tho I wish it was more possible to parry easier. I feel that we not able to use vital counter party moves as because it’s too difficulty of parry. The risk for go for parry is not worth it, since it often ends up with more hits. At least it’s for me lol. I’m a casual gamer and not any pro like maybe most of you guys. left down right all seem to be the same. Up is the only one you need to look out for for the leg sweeps. I prefer left + right, just felt better to me.

I think what really screwed me up initially was you have to press down to dodge high and up to dodge low. When I figured this out I made the fighter my bitch.

I'm sure it's been said but you don't need to do left right left right . Just hold block and hit down . It dodges everything coming your way minus the attacks that need precise timing to dodge. Up and block is for lows but that's it. Breaking down something you don't understand is a good way to mislead people.

I'll have to go test! The game itself tells you up and down is for high / low - it seemed reasonable that left and right could be for the rest in general - and is working. Would be odd if they decided left and right does the same as down. Experimentation needed!!

The enemies I have a hard time fighting are the ones from the club that you face either before the boss, or the one you face by himself please explain to me the best way to fight them. They are elites with staggering attack that I can't figure how to dodge.

Neutralise the man with a special L2 attack. You must dodge their last strike combo with side dodge then counter to effectively hurt them. Try to kill the woman first she have less hp. You can find a stick on the far right side of the room. Near a door.

Up dodge three times when they attack with their standard 3-attack palm/fist strikes, then beat em up after. Rinse and repeat until you kill them. Occasionally they do sweeping kicks too but I find that that rarely happens - if it does, switch to up dodge twice and one down dodge, then punish them at the end of the attack chain.

For me how i do it is first i straight up avoid the red shorts mini boss with the shortcut because he has a lot of poise and health and its annoying to deal with, then on the 2 mini bosses in the end you have to figure out the timing of that 3 punch move that they like to spam a lot where the last one comes out with a red glow, the first two punches you can dodge easily like any normal attack but the last strong one comes out a bit delayed so you need to wait a bit to dodge it and always keep that in mind to be able to do it consistently. I also like to take the 2 focus bar upgrade and focus bar regain on dodge so when im dodging them im gaining focus to do a free sweep/attack combo. If you do it slowly while throwing chairs on them with the enviromental mastery u can beat them with minimal to no dmg. Also i think the girl version of those 2 mini boss has less health, or at least i feel like she does so i start by focusing her.

Also be sure to not dodge their last palm strike too early. It took me a good chunk of tries to get the timing just right but once you do that combo isn't nearly as bad as it seem as long as they don't gang up on you.

Do you have to hold down L1 (ps5) when doing this? I havent played the game yet, but I am SO close to just spending my money and buying it. Still trying to play Diablo 2, Dying Light 2, and here in a week, Horizon 2. This game looks crazy fun.

Put - holding the block button lets you dodge, but now you can tap directions and dodge in those directions! Feb has been a CRAZY month for releases. Don't forget Elden Ring!!!

However I have seen that magic is OP in Elden Ring so I might buy it as the 1st game to try it out. Have you seen trailers for Forspoken though?!? That looks good too. SO this SIFU video is about holding the block button (L1 on PS?) and then tapping left or right to dodge in those directions right? Or are you holding down a different button for that?

This video is a bit misleading. Yes, you can press left or right to dodge, but that is functionally the same as pressing back. The game has no concept of lateral dodges, only of low and high dodges. The reason why its working is because the regular enemies will do a high attack 99% of the time (and shifting back while dodging is a "high dodge"). It can also work against elite enemies, you simply have to match the direction. Orange attacks simply means they cannot be blocked so you have to do the proper parry or dodge

That doesnt make sense because you dont hold block. You initiate block by tapping the button and if you initiate the stance then you can follow up. If you just hold block on the ps4. The person will attempt to block something for about 2 seconds. Then if you keep holding it the character resets to a idle position like you never held it down. For this to work on the ps4 you have to button mash the block/guard button. And then the other mystery. You block. Push up. The person blocks up. Down, down. But then when you fight people. If they sweep at you. You can push up to hop to a different stance. You can push upwards and to the side and then they hop over it. But then if you push down they collide with the sweep. And if you collide and hit an attack button. You block but you also block while hitting them. So wtf is going on. Does up hop or does down block. Then you got the fat guys in the intro. Time pauses and all you see is this giant arrow with zero explanation. Just push. That way. Well when I just push that way it doesnt do the thing you also have to do while pushing that way. I spent an hour once on the tutorial just dying. Trying to figure out wtf you're supposed to also do aside from go away from fat man. I mean of course. Its a big fat guy. No crap move away. Can I get the other half of the tutorial please? And you have to time it. So it doesnt even matter if you do it if the timings off. Can I get a little explanation of wtf Im timing? Cause its not the buttons. Is it a hit box or some kind of verb that has to go down for fatty to charge at you. And whats the difference between blocking and blockhitting. Where you hit after you block but its a harder block. And he said its just up and down. Is it really.

So about the left and right dodge. There are only 2 types of dodging a high dodge and a low dodge and to do these you move the analog stick up and down accordingly depending on what type of dodge you want to do. Sure you can move your analog stick to the left and right and still dodge but the game just counts those as a high Dodge you’re not doing anything special if I spammed my analog stick down witch is a high dodge my character would still be dodging left and right if that type of dodge is needed. If he did this video again but only dodge down and not left and right the video would turn out exactly the same. Dodging left and right is the same as dodging down. I mean I guess he’s not wrong you can move the analog left and right and dodge but it’s exactly the same as dodging down even the animations are the same. I mean if you want to do it just for cool points go ahead. Just know that your doing more for the same results
