We like your independence and objectivity, Justin, and I'd hate to see you fall for Tim's charm like some of the others have- one channel even reviewed a p365 that ran with NO problems for him, but because he's buddies with Tim and believed Tim's incorrect assumptions about causes of p365 problems, the guy gave it a negative review because of what 'might happen'. And I'd strongly encourage Tim to make a video where he admits he was wrong about p365 magazine scratches causing dead triggers. The mag scratches have no relevance to the old problem of dead triggers (addressed by June '18), but there are still fools quoting Tim on that bad info. Dead triggers were a result of some TR springs being cut too short on the trigger bar end, resulting in springs disconnecting. Pics exist somewhere on the 'net. Keep it real Justin, never compromise!

@@JustinOpinionChannel While I love that we have a multitude of YT reviewers now there is too much bias. While I like some of Tim's content he is obviously biased against Sig. He will throw up his arms and say he's not....but he has largely ignored some known problems from his favorite CZ....notably the P10C. That one got an obvious pass for early problems while Sig got crucified for their early problems by Tim. Moreover the "torture test" videos are very very misleading. Everyone knows that looser tolerances shorten the life of a gun...but will allow that gun to shine in a torture test.

I was on the fence, but this video made me buy one. I had the P365 but actually found it to be too small. The XL is basically the size of the Shield, but with 12 rounds. Got mine today, seem to have no racking issues out of the box. Great video. You and Hickok are the only two I can watch for 30 minutes!

I carried glock 19 until I got my hands on the p365 XL. I shoot so accurately with it and its easier to conceal.

N Gzz mine has 500 rounds through it and is breaking in nicely. Very easy to conceal. I feel I can shoot it just as accurately if not more than my Glock 19 with minimal felt recoil. I hope you enjoy it!

What draws me to the Sig Sauer p365xl is that it is in between size wise the sub-compact and compact double stack pistols and is thinner. The Glock 19 is over 5” tall and prints on me. The XL is 4.8 which is significant decrease in grip printing while being thinner and still holding 12 + 1. A longer barrel helps with sight radius, shootability of pistol and doesn’t effect IWB carry. Best of both worlds. Also don’t have to buy new iron sights or trigger. Ready out of the box.

I have 500 rds through my p365 xl manufacture date 0ct. 31 2019. zero malfunctions with winchester 124 grain nato and federal 115 grain rtp. I love this gun.

I loved my p365, but I adore my XL. Its absolutely my favorite pistol, small and slim enough for my skinny butt to carry comfortably, but shoots like a bigger gun and has the capacity other carry pistols lack. As far as making it more compact I put the short original slide on the XL frame to carry it as my ankle backup. But off duty at the 4 o clock the full XL isn’t noticeably different.

I like my sig p365 xl. I do not have the slide problem with mine. Got 1k rounds through it and I like it more every time I shoot it. Got 2300 rounds through my p365 and still like it. P320 x compact is awesome too. First three sigs I've had. No problems I carry the p365 xl and the p365 cross draw over my left pocket in a holster with a 20 degree cant. No printing problems

Great video! I picked one up two weeks ago. It's the new XL with the "X" on the slide to indicate the new optic cut. So, no need to remove the rear sight. I love how it runs, I only put 43 rounds (4 JHP SIg Elite V crown 124gr, and the other 39 were Fiocchi 115 range) with zero failures. I like the way you are able to run yours a little faster than I was allowed at my range. It's good to see it perform as it did/should in your video. I did notice a slight, or tiny snag, when racking it at the reset but its minimal, maybe just a little tougher than a regular rack when first chambering a round. Not like the complete stoppage you were getting. Hope yours smoothed out. Thank you for sharing.

Finally picked up the P365XL last week and ran my first two mags through it yesterday, I have to say I love the way it shoots and feels much better than the original P365. I had a nice tight shot group at ten yards, I mean I’m not “Justin Opinion” good....but it was a good shot group for me lol

my glock 30 gen 4 locks up when trying to cycle the slide with a full mag. its is one of my most reliable pistol. 2 failures in 17000 rounds of reloads. only cleaned pistol after failures. stopped counting at 17000 . pistol runs like a swiss watch. like hickok 45 said glock 30 is a sweet shooter. i like both glock and sig. really like sigs new flat trigger does not shoot to the left for me.

When my 320 came back from sig for the recall it was tight. The bright fresh bare metal in the new cut pointed me to the issue. Little sanding with some thousand grit, lube, and it was butter again.

Glad to see it’s working for you. I have both the 365 (wife’s gun) and 365XL (mine) and prefer the XL simply because I’m a red dot guy and have a Romeo0 on mine. I do have 2 grip frames of each size so that we can use the same magazines in both. We’re leaning towards the XL frame with standard 12-rd base plates, but may use the standard frame for both and then use either the 10 round mags for ultra concealment or the 12-rd version, which basically makes it the length of the XL.

Can’t stress enough how much smoother shooting with less muzzle flip and recoil the XL is compared to the regular 365. It’s really shocking how just a little extra barrel and slide makes it perform. It feels perfect in my medium size hands and conceals nearly as well. I have carried a Glock 42 (.380) for awhile because of the light recoil and size but was finally won over with the XL as the perfect carry gun. Still carry the 42 when ultra light carry is called for, but the XL is standard now.

I've shot over 500 rounds thru my XL and so far no malfunctions 🙌 I added the Romeo zero sights and after getting use to them I'm not sure I can shoot iron sights anymore

Recently bought one with the pzero. Once I got the dot sighted in, its been spot on. LOVE IT. Mine also is very stiff to rack from reset. I assume it will loosen up over time. 100% reliable at this time, only around 200 rounds through it so far though.

Great video Justin. Hitting range tomorrow for another 100 rounds. That will put mine up to 300 total. If no hang ups (slide not going all the way into battery) it will go into carry rotation. Love how it shoots. Very accurate.

I had the same issue with the locking slide on a P 320 X Carry. My LGS took care of it for me by swapping it out. I love Sig but the quality control on these seems spotty. I hope they have it sorted now.

I just purchased a SIG 365. When I first got the gun, I could not rack the slide when the trigger was pulled to the rear. After 100 rounds, I can rack the slide (when trigger is to the rear) but it still feels like it is binding. The gun has been 100% reliable so far and has no primer drag like reported on the Military Arms Channel.

Oh yes, the trigger is very nice! I tend to shoot SIGs better than I do many other brands - one main reason I am a fan of the brand and perhaps I give them more of a pass than others do. But it's hard not to really like a gun that feels like a natural extension of your hand.

Mine was really tight out of the box but has not malfunctioned at the range yet. Much more so than my 365X. Amazing shooters. The biggest difference is balance out of the holster. The X is perfect with a 12 rounder and the XL is perfect with the 15 round mag and allows a full clamp grip with the bottom of your hands. I can shoot the XL with 15 round mag faster and just as accurately as my Legion 226 SAO.

Just purchased a SIG P 365 XL approx. One month ago and no problem racking the SLIDE after trigger has been pulled or not pulled . No malfunctions with factory loads or factory re-loads . Maybe he is to use to Glucks . The P 365 XL internals are much more robust than Glucks or S&W Shield .

Great video! I agree with your assessment that I don’t see an advantage to carrying this over the P365. The 12 round magazine extends the P365 for a full 3 finger grip like the XL. I really like my P365, my only wish is for a larger grip frame which the XL doesn’t address. I’ve supplemented with a Hogue sleeve, but still doesn’t help to the extent I want for my large hands.

Put about 600 through one xl. 150 through another. No failures in anything. Only thing that's an issue so far is couldn't swap the mag release to the right side of gun. Watched some videos on how to do it, but it's not working on the guns I tried. On larger guns it's pretty easy to use the tip or middle knuckle of the left index finger. It's a bit awkward on something this size though. Not at all impossible, but not at all ideal either. I like the way the XDS and FNS lines had their ambi set up. Very easy with either hand.

Only 1000 rounds huh? You only need 500 rounds to break in an all metal kimber 1911. Parts break in should occur in the first few hundred rounds to smooth things out. A 1000 round break in is a ridiculous concept

I like and ordered that P365xl....dont have it yet in hand. Going to get the HOLOSUN 507k because I wear bifocals now. It's 1/2 price of my RMR, and that made a big difference on my P220/10mm cause that front sight was getting fuzzy. Need to have a crisp/sharp front sight and my eyes wasn't doing their job. Like that gun as a sidekick when I go hunting. I'm old now 65, so these new pistols I'm no expert... but...pistols (Colt/Springfield) used to take 1k of rounds before you things got seated. 3k rounds before they ran slick. Right off the get go on them was trigger job, bushing, throat polish...BEFORE 1 ST ROUND THROUGH IT. Then you'd work WOLF SPRINGS into your pistol loads. Not no more on today's guns...trigger maybe to ones liking. These new Pistols today are pretty damn good right out of the box.... maybe just 2500 grit polishing paste rub down on contact trigger points, rework the recoil springs on the slide to yourloads. But put about 2k through her before you work on it. Try light reloads and hot reloads.....that action should should be slicker than snot firing both. If anything a recoil spring change and that's it to match the timing to your loads. Hope I helped...you look and act like you know your way arround a pistol. So lets just call this range talk and fun conversation.

I picked up my p365 Xl one week ago the first 50 rounds I ran through it was 124 grain eagle. The gun FTRB at least twice on each magazine for the four loads that I ran. Very disappointed ☹️. Went out today with 300 rounds of 115 gr. Eagle fmj and the gun continued to fail on every loaded mag. After 15 mags.(180 rds) the count stood at 40 times FTRB. Very upset!!! Cleaned and oil the gun again and proceeded to fire this same ammo to see if it made a difference. First mag after cleaning ftrb 1 time. Second mag ftrb 1time. The next four mags (48 rds) fired without any additional failures. I'm hoping this was some sort of crule break-in sequence that I had to go through with my gun and it will now perform as expected on day one. I like everything about the gun, grip,trigger,sights, size and capacity, but if it will not RTB it's a useless single shot pistol. Waiting to hear from Sig through my dealer. Update: Returned this gun to Sig for inspection and repair. Received the gun back in one week. They stated they replaced the recoil spring, oil, and test fired about 40 rounds using a mix of 124 gr and 115 gr ammo. Stated no failures. Upon getting the gun back, I ran 130 rds of 115 gr eagle ammo (same as I ran originally) with no failures to return to battery. I'm in love again!

I use Lucas red thick n tacky on my pistol slides and frame rails. I use liquid bearings on all internal pivot parts. (craft brushes from Walmart and cotton swabs from on line)

@@a.d.c7941 yes, just a few hundred to 500 rounds and it will loosen up nicely. Tolerances on the gun are very tight out of the box. Its a great pistol. I've never had an issue with mine. it just took time to lossen it up.

The Sig 15-round magazine I bought because of the perceived quality of Sig Sauer fell about a foot and exploded into parts and ammo. I only got one 12-round mag with my P365XL, so I have no spare because I cannot carry something so flimsy when my life might depend on it.

An honest question from a non-expert, why would you dry fire, then hold the trigger and try to rack the slide? I just bought a P365XL a few weeks ago, I like it a lot. It has loosened up a lot after 5-6 hundred rounds. Plus nice shooting and great video!!

Holding the trigger back does two things - first, it allows you to feel the trigger reset and get a feel for the travel and feedback of that, and also lets you feel any grittiness or loose travel, etc.

It amazes me how people can’t not figure out what is causing the slide to be hard to pull back lol I figured it out 30 seconds after removing the slide. If you look on the right side of the gun in the slide rail it has a detent that is spring loaded. When the slide is forward it sits in a notch in the slide. As you pull the slide back it has to force the detent downward this keeps it from firing when out of battery.

So, I bought one of these this morning (10/18). I checked and it had exactly the same hitch on reset. I casually dropped your name and the store owner told me he was about to send all his back but Sig told him it was nothing to worry about, it would wear in during break in. Ok, it’s not the end of the world and I know it will but why is Sig continuing to produce pistols with an ongoing bug? Anyway, took a couple of shots at home and, like yours, it isn’t causing a problem so I will proceed. Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger on that magazine thing. I have 4 12-round mags from my P320 SC (now converted to an X-Compact thanks to Sig’s modular design) and...they don’t work and won’t work, even with new floor plates. Similar profile but the floor plates are angled the opposite direction. Clever plate design might help but the big problem is the cuts are in the wrong place. So they stay in the box with the SC grip module and stock trigger. Those minor inconveniences aside, this gun is a beauty. Solid feel (I really dislike pinky extensions), great grip, limited recoil and spectacular trigger and sights. I’m a believer! Pocket carry? Bah! That what I have a Kahr CW380 for. This will be for winter/3 season carry.

Did it ever occur to you that not being able to rack the slide with the trigger depressed, is a safety feature intentionally designed into the weapon, since letting the slide move forward with the tigger depressed, and with a magazine in the weapon with.....or without..... rounds in the magazine, the weapon would fire a round. I know of an incident where the owner of a WWII Lugar had the trigger of the Lugar depressed while he racked the "Toggle" on the Lugar. When he racked the toggle, the lugar fired and the bullet went between the feet of some kid. The bullet ricocheted off the floor and into a wall......luckily, no one was injured.

Ok. I know what is causing the slide to be locked while holding the trigger and trying to rack the slide. Its the little black thing that stick up and pushes on the striker safety. Its catching in the hole in the slide where this safety rests. If you look closely you will see it sits below not level and when the trigger is held down that part the depresses that safety sticks up. When you go to rack the slide back it catches on the slide. Thats why it doesnt do it if the trigger is not held back. Also if you lay your slide next to the receiver you will see it lines up perfectly. Dont know the fix except dont hold the trigger back but even doing so i put 300 round through mine today with zero malfunctions

I'm getting this as a gap-filler between my Kahr CW9 and my compact and full-size service pistols. My state has a 15 round magazine limit, which neuters my P229 and G17 anyway, so having 15 rounds in a small package like that is huge for me. Hope it proves to be reliable.

No, he discussed this in the first video. It was just the combination of the xl slide and frame that did it.

i have both. mine does not have the slide issue. i really prefer the xl and carry it im my pocket. 2 1/2 ounces more is not an issue.

Lots of complaints about the xl tolerances being too tight and having issues returning to battery, most of those saying they had those issues were from a year or so ago when the xl just came out. Wondering if those bugs have been worked out now that it’s been out for over a year. I just bought a hellcat and I like it but can’t stop thinking about the 365XL. It does feel so dang good in the hand but reliability worries me which is why I went with SA hellcat

I want to grab one of these badly but I'm a budget guy. We're the main issues fixed or is more luck of the draw to get a good one? I've been carrying a g22 as my cc for far to long. The p365 vs that is a huge difference. I'd also prefer the xl due to mag count

Did you disassemble and thoroughly clean and lubricate your new gun before shooting? You would be surprised at how much manufacturing debris remains. A lot of seasoned shooters don’t bother and wonder why they have problems.

Great video brother. My 365 XL has been giving me fits returning to battery, during the first 200 rounds. I really like this weapon and want to trust it, so I’m hoping this issue goes away soon. I’m going to try a little more oil next time at the range, and a tighter grip. I’ve heard that limp-wristing can contribute to the battery fail, as well. Thanks
