Hi,from the West Midlands, Nice , honest review. I did recently add a Sig to my collection , but after seeing similar issues on other videos i went for the new X Five pellet Sig , adjustable sights, 60-70 good shots from the C02 and pretty accurate at 30 feet, well pleased.

Howdy Gabriela here from Bavaria🙋🏻♀️, I've bought my P226 two Month ago and in the beginning i was verry happy with it - except the high consumption of CO2. At first, what i like to say is the simle change of CO2 Cylinders - I recomend to drop a bit oil on top of every cylinder before u use it and i realy enjoy its powerfull Blowback - thats realy great - just like a .45 Colt. What i found out during i use it wasn't that nice🙄 After the 3rd change of CO2 Cylinder it begun to let drop out the magazine during i Shot - without pushing the release button - only because of that strong shaking - result due the strong Blowback; and i fear the second point of my discontent is the fact, that the 'sledge' is now starting to wiggle sideways in same conclusion of that strong Blowback. I've used it the most time cause of noise reduction with an adapter to 1/2" UNF to use a silencer and i have used .177 rounds the most of time couse they are cheaper and easier/faster to reload to the Mag. In the end i havecto say that i'm still having other older guns and rifles ( Colt,HK, UMAREX Airmag 850, ....,) but with none of them i had such probs. SORRY SIG. I have send it back to let them check it and i hope they r able to solve that probs. When ive got it back, i'll let u know about - here. Bye 4 now n enjoy your shooting. KR Gabriela

You were correct to pan this pistol. i live 5 miles from Sig headquarters in Epping NH. Purchased the gun there a few years ago. It looks great and feels great but has been useless for any type of shooting practice. I'm only shoot targets from 15 feet and it's wholly inaccurate. I shot it a lot when I got it, but it quickly found a place in the corner and collected dust. Just tried to resurrect it, but it's a lost cause. I oiled it put in a new co2 cartridge. It won't fire a pellet however. The magazine jammed. I pried it out and put in another. Still won't shoot. At this point it's not worth my time, Don't waste your money sorry to say.

@AJ-gk7bn2 жыл бұрын
The “three stage trigger” you’re referring to is called double action single action in a real gun. I have the real gun and it’s probably my favorite in my collection. It’s about a $1,500.00 firearm so it’s very high quality, like most Sigs are. I’ve been looking for air gun versions of it for practice when I can’t get out to shoot and to save some money on ammunition. Think I’ll pick this up honestly. I don’t even want any bb’s or anything. Just some co2 for the gun to cycle. I’ve also read that the trigger is really comparable to the real thing too so that’s really cool. Although I’m a little bummed that this air gun version doesn’t have a decocker and turned it into a safety. That’s a pretty weird choice if I’m being honest. Seems pretty silly for a air gun to even have a safety lol. The real gun doesn’t even have one and it’s… real..

Excellent review and spot on I've had mine for about a month and it's going back today first it started to drop power after five shots then accuracy went to the birds and finaly it started to leak co2 like crazy i love the feel of it it looks good but thats about as good as it gets super co2 hungry i was getting about 30-40 shots and then it would not have enough force to expel the pellet and would Jam up and the clip would get stuck vary disappointed especially considering here in Canada I paid 189.99 so I'm returning it and hopefully can pick somthing else up if they don't have anything I'm gonna use the return funds to load up on co2 and pellets or maybe try to find a nice knife. I recently purchased a crossman vigilante and could not be more happy it has a ten shot round clip i get about 60-70 shots from a canister before it gets noticeably week but it's vary accurate and vary user friendly I've been shooting pellet pistols for 30 years amd the crossman vigilante is by far the best I've ever shot and it cost 120.00 I recommend if you get another pellet pistol to concidar the crossman Vigilante it's far superior to the p226 and is a lot easyer to use ...great review 👍👍

Hi Steve a great review as always,i would recommend the Sig Sauer X5 ASP, this has adjustable sights for height & windage,is considerably more accurate than the P226, i believe the X5 is used for target shooting in the US.,however the X5 is considerably more expensive.!! looking good though old chap.

The X5 ASP is nice and heavy.. and that fully adjustable rear sight is awesome to have. :) Can though shoot with the P226 as good groups as with the X5 - now that the P226's barrel sits tight and at aimpoint. Probably could make some adjustments to improve the X5 even better, But I have not needed to go that far yet.. PS. It feels so wrong to see the price differences between countries. No idea what price the X5 will have - if it ever comes out on the Finnish airgun market. My X5 cost me approx 150€ (incl.shipping) from Germany. And the "not-that-good" P320 ASP costs 200€ over here in Finland. OUCH!! :/

Thanks for such a GOOD, impartial review. Informational and enjoyable. Some feedback: 3:14 - Blowback on the second shot: you see gas coming out from the REAR of the slide! (Excessive gas use?) 7:28 - "Made in Japan"?! It must be SIG Sauer LICENSED, not made by SIG Sauer themselves as I've heard/read. Ironically, "Swiss Arms" who make CO2 airguns is closely related to "SIG Sauer" - but this isn't made by them either?! 9:10 - I buy on eBay - from JS Ramsbottom! 😁 (I've never tried buying direct - surely cheaper still! Will do this.) 11:00 - Firing without a magazine. You see gas coming out via the mag well because there's no cylinder to direct the gas 100% through the barrel. Looks like excessive gas used each shot. 11:28 - I was shocked at the low velocity. Isn't this advertised as 510FPS? I've seen other reviews where chronos are showing higher velocities. (Probably warmer weather with lighter pellets) 14:00 - Hold open after last shot. I've only seen this with BB pistols. Sadly, I can't see how they can make this happen with pellet pistols... 14:59 - AA Diabolo Fields are probably too heavy at 8.4gr. I suspect you'll get better results with the LIGHTEST flathead pellets you can get. 16:33 - Is that what they call a "floating barrel"? Seems this pistol has a "beaten zone"... 18:16 - Fly tip. Load an empty magazine and blat the thing. It can land on a window and you can blast it, point blank. But be prepared to wipe clean your window, afterwards. I was sold on this pistol before this review - now, I'll hang fire and do some more research. I'll probably still buy it but not perhaps yet. My two real concerns are the inaccuracy and gas use. I'll watch your vid on taping the barrel: I'm wondering if lightening the hammer spring or increasing the strength of the valve spring might reduce the amount of gas release, increasing capsule longevity. (These are standard tweaks in a Crosman 2250b)

Great review and spot on, I have a P226 and agree with everything said. I've got 10 pistols and this is the worst for accuracy and CO2 use. It's a shame as it's a cracking looking pistol but non-adjustable sights are awful, mine shoots low all the time, adding a red dot sight doesn't help as the pistol is so inconsistent, not worth the money on that basis, probably £60 at the most.

With regards to pellet counts.. all blowbacks will give roughly the same performance per bulb, but it tends to be weather dependant. On a warm day ive had 80 pretty consistent shots, but on a cold day youre looking at around 40. Regarding the magazine.. I also had issues with some brands of pellets falling out, but ive found that daystate sovs and JSB 4.52s fit quite nicely and because of that seem a lot more accurate. RWS superdomes and a few other brands tend to be quite tight then misfire and jam between the mag and barrel stopping the magazine feeds cycle especially when the bulb is dying. On the upside there is a magnet in both ends of the mag which stops the BBs falling out and makes them easier to load. As for accuracy.. no its not a target pistol, but it is the same as any other gun.. you need to find the brand of pellet which suites your barrel. Once you manage that then accuracy and consistency is much better. Also you can de-cock the pistol the age old way by pulling the hammer back and then gently pulling the trigger. As a side note.. I really cant believe that you did the whole review, changed the bulb, magazine etc.. with the safety off. The only time the safety should be off is when you are pointing downrange and ready to shoot, you know this. Other than that it’s a pretty good review and I can relate completely to your frustration, but it still makes me grin like a bloody idiot everytime I pull the trigger and hit something. lol
@airgunology6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rob for the info. It seems I am not the only one with issues with this Pistol, many others in the comments have said I am spot on about it, just I am the only reviewer to actually tell the truth about it. I tried everything with this pistol, making sure I used fresh CO2, warmed up the CO2 to compensate for 14 degrees weather. But it just is so inconsitent, uses far to much CO2 and the barrel wobbles / not clamped properly. Pellets constantly fall out, tried 3 different brands and sizes. Sorry about the safety, but reviewing is slightly different to range firing and I was constantly stating the weapon was not loaded. Yes it is wrong, but a bit of forgiveness is needed when reviewing items and stating they are safe.
@robstanley72476 жыл бұрын
I can’t remember seeing any review which says its accurate and only Giles was happy with shots per bulb. In fact most reviewing it have shown the targets and they look like they have been shot with a blunderbuss, which tends to be the norm with most blowbacks. But they have all said the gun is a good garden plinker and fun to shoot and it is, even with all its failings. Most reviewers tend to be experienced pistol shooters so will compare like for like and base their reviews on past experience. Whereas the likes of me and you who are predominantly rifle shooters and have little to no experience with pistols will subconsciously use our rifle experience and expectations as a benchmark, especially when used to dropping pellets in a 10mm group at 40+ yards so the negatives are all to glaringly obvious and takes centre focus when our expectations are not met. With regards to accuracy, I’ve completely stripped mine down tonight and used the tape modification and the barrel is now rock solid. I’ve also placed a small shim under the front of the barrel to see if that helps with the accuracy seeing as it always shot low. To late to test tonight, but I’ll be taking it to work tomorrow and trying on my range there. Fingers crossed its made an improvement. Even if it hasn’t it was worth it just to clean the internals as they were flooded with grease.

Yeah you are right. Suppose they are blind to it all, but they also tend not to highlight the big flaws otherwise the companies would not send them any more kit to review. Big debate, best left alone. Looking forward to your post on the FB group about the strip down and mods

Same here, on a warm day I get about 5 mags (80 shots) out of it. Quite good accuracy after the barrel mod. Still have some play but it is now the whole barrel mecanism and the frame. Accurate enough to shoot at 6 - 10 m on steel targets. Only using lead free pellets. H&N match green 5.25 gr seems to work fine.
@robstanley72476 жыл бұрын
@ I managed to get everything quite solid after the mod, but i've also packed the barrel liner and its now shooting where I aim it instead of low left. Getting pretty good groupings at 8m using H&N excites.

God I love America where if your a good guy you can own all the guns you want. I will never understand how you people in the UK gave up your rights to own and carry a gun for protection. Maybe gun crimes went down but knife crimes went way up in the UK
@simonsignolet56323 жыл бұрын
We UK pistol shooters from a few decades ago NEVER gave up our rights to own firearm pistols. We had them taken away from us as in a non thought out public appeasing backlash to the Dunblane shooting. Recently, another shooting in Plymouth threatens gun (shotgun) ownership rights. Much as I hate the gun restrictions (especially on airguns - and even Airsoft!), they've probably reduced the gun crime GROWTH a tad - but no-one can really know beyond speculation. I'm pretty sure that gun crime HAS actually increased overall despite the various bans and restrictions. And, you're right, we have a crazy amount of knife crime, with killings significantly on the up especially amongst minors. No-one even thinks of reducing knife availability, including the silly, macho "zombie/Rambo" type knives out there.
@danielsidaway7196 жыл бұрын
The warmer it is, the better CO2 gets. No good to test CO2 at 15 Celsius......come here where it is 34 and you will definitely see a huge improvement. Also, take time between shots; CO2 cools down the gun so rapid shots will freeze the gun making it miserable to shoot. Full blow-back CO2 guns are gas hungry; some of that CO2 is wasted throwing the slide back. Try a non blow-back pistol and you will see that all the gas is dedicated to pushing the projectile which equals a higher FPS and more shots per canister. One thing one should NEVER do is shoot steel bb's in a rifled barrel gun.....even if the manufacturer says that you can use either, DON'T DO IT; steel bb's will ruin the rifling in the barrel. I too have the Tanfoglio Witness 1911 which is field stripable (sp?), and I just love it, but here we are talking steel bb and not pellet, so no rifled barrel, but can shoot spot-on once you get used to it. Cheers!

I want to buy a gun ~ 380 fps I tried pt 85 I even managed to get 1cm of the 6metres despite being recoiled but what about 10cm below ... From my pellet dan wesson 8 "I shoot the toothpicks or 9/10 to the shield.

I just sent mine back. Highly inaccurate, even at a relatively short range. CO2 cartridge is good for about 2 magazines worth, then it won't even make 20 ft to hit the target. Not impressed.

Dude, 8 meters with a little CO2 pellet gun? Like what more are you looking for? Like actual firearms, you want distance and accuracy then go with a rifle. So get an air rifle then if you want more than 8 meters. Why expect more from a fake pistol?

I have other CO2 pistols much better than this at twice the range. It is supposed to be a can plinker, but if it can't hit a can at 8m then it is pointless. Watch my other video where I work out the problem and fix because of the wobbly barrel this pistol sometimes ships with.

@@airgunology checked out the vid and fixed my barrel accordingly. Surprised at how much better it shoots .I stand corrected sir! Apologies. I'm used to real firearms and didn't have high expectations of a CO2 replica, but these things aren't half bad. Thanks

Ok, not a target pistol, so shouldn't be treated as a digital camera. CQB keep 5 canisters and 10 clips on you. Good less lethal.
