I have one and I love it. Interestingly even though it's been out for quite a while now I'd not had an opportunity to get my hands on one until recently when one showed up at the local gun store. Unfortunately it wasn't for sale (was an FFL transfer that another customer was picking up but he did let me take a look at and handle it). And it immediately de-throned the H&K USP as my favorite polymer framed full size. So I had to have one. And ever since getting one for myself I have not regretted it.

Congratulations on your first handgun being a Sig Sauer SP2022 9mm. Sig's are amongst the best firearms in the industry. That was a good purchase. Money well spent. My 8 handguns are as follows: 2 SP2022's, 1 in 9mm and the other in 40 S&W/357 Sig. 2 P239's, 1 in 9mm and the other in 40 S&W/357 Sig. P229 40 S&W/357 Sig. P220 45 ACP. P226 MK25 9mm. P238 380 ACP. About every 3 to 5000 rounds I had to replace my guide rod because it was all chewed up from the spring. And just like your gun I had were marks on the barrel the outside. After 25,000 rounds I replaced a barrel which is still good and I bought a stainless steel guy Roquefort. After 5000 more rounds it was nowhere on the outside of the barrel from the bouncing attributed to the plaster guide rod. At At 10 yards I get one in scrubs and I 25 yards believe it or not I get one and 1/8 group with the new barrel. I’ll total I have over 30,000 rounds through this fire arm. And between seven and 10,000 rounds I sent it back to the factory for reconditioning and replace all the springs and Acura ties it. The last time I also put on new sites and a new barrel. For all intensive purposes this is a brand new Pistol. I have not shot it for about six years because I’ve been using other Firearms. Bore access is a little high but it is manageable. I have been able to get off six rounds in less than a minute that’s not bad for this type of trigger.

10lb pull in double action is about average -- so that's good to know since I'm still looking for a sp2022. You are right about the price change; $639.99 at Academy now in the Nashville area (Sep2023). I have the p226 sao legion and the p365x macro now. I used to have, and carry the p320c and the original p365 (3.1 barrel) models. I'm too old and shaky to shoot efficiently with anything below a 3.9" barrel so the 365 micro had to go. The p320c was a good size but I did not care for the trigger much (I've been called a trigger snob--lol). I found that the Stoeger compact $299.99 at Academy was a better feel and better trigger than the p320c. Both are the same size except that the Stoeger is slightly slimmer. I prefer 1911 frames and I've heard nothing but good about the p2022. Hopefully, I can find one soon. Great video.

357s and 40s in all models at SIG have been discontinued 😢 it's not certain if they will come back. 357 SIG is awesome. Performance-wise, it is basically 9mm +P for most commercial loads. However, you don't have to hot rod the 357, so it probably will have longer life vs a 9mm with a steady +P diet.

I’ve literally never heard of this pistol. It looks like a nice, quality DA/SA Sig. It makes me think of the P220 series of Sig’s. I’ve never shot or owned any of them, but I know the SEAL’s used the P226, as well as the British SAS and that always stood out to me. When I started looking into them, my suspicion was confirmed. Those pistols have a legendary reputation for being very high quality, well made, and excellent shooters. Definitely wanna add one to my collection one day. Honestly the only Sig’s that I’ve heard bad things about are newer ones like the P320, and I’ve heard a few negatives about the P365 but not as many as the P320. Even still, it seems like most of their problems come from seemingly not testing and evaluating those pistols quite as much as they maybe should have. I would imagine that given enough time on the market, sooner or later they will become just like the older Sig’s. I’ve never heard anyone complain about a P220 series pistol at all. I’ve heard some people say they weren’t huge fans of them, but never that they’re bad guns. Just some people don’t seem to like them. Personally, I would love to try one out.
@DFWPewReview
@DFWPewReview Жыл бұрын
I've heard people say the sp2022 is practically the p220 just with a polymer frame, or "the poor man's p220" lol. The p320's aren't bad, they got a bad rep for going off if the slide was impacted from the rear at a downward angle. I believe they put out recall that fixed that issue, but I know it definitely blemished the way a lot of consumers look SIG. Almost every firearm manufacturer has made an oops and needed to put out a recall, most recently Taurus is in the hot seat with the same issue on their GX4s.
@JG54206
@JG54206 Жыл бұрын
@@DFWPewReview That’s exactly the vibe I get from these guns. Poly framed P220 series. I know they have recalled the P320 and supposedly fixed the issues with drop safety etc, but I’m still not quite convinced just given that some people seem to still be experiencing uncommanded discharges. Other than that, the P320 is; from my outside observation, an awesome idea of a gun, just perhaps a little hastily executed. I’m sure that in time either a) Sig will fix any remaining design issues if there are any remaining or b) the market will gain confidence in the platform over some time if there aren’t any design issues remaining. Just for me, I’ll stay clear of that one, for now. I like their willingness to make what the market seems to want.

I was the only one in the range at the time I believe. Also, I've never been at a range that cares if you place it down with a round in the chamber as long as it's pointed down range. Also when you've had a failure to fire most places recommend that you do that anyway just in case you're experiencing a slow burn, it's also the same if you think you're experiencing a cooked round. Also when I qualified for my LTC they had us all load our firearms and set them down oriented down range between sets. The only other range I go to says it's ok to set them down as long as it's pointed down range and actually recommends doing so in their orientation video. I don't believe its not as uncommon as you might think, and as long as it's down range I don't believe it really matters. Thanks for watching.

The sp2022 currently has a higher MSRP than most go to Glocks. Not that we have anything against Glock here, it is very point and click, but sp2022 is more forgiving and tactile in the hand and for the eye. The trigger is better than most factory glock triggers as well. Also being a hammer fire with sa/da trigger will allow for second strike on the primer in case of light strike (which can happen with any firearm) or sunken primer. Most beginners won't instinctually rack a round to keep going, they'll try to pull the trigger again, and 9 times out if 10 it will work with a DA hammer strike, and cause a hesitation and cost time with a SA only striker fire like Glock. In case of a potential home invasion it will add a buffer for people who are less trained.

@@GreggRoberts I have one mag on it's way out but have a couple more. I've heard of the run without a rail. I had heard rumours that they were a special production run designed for the French police, but even those have kind of a tucked in rail. There were others who ended up with frames manufactured by the company who produced the lowers for the sp2009 for a short time. They were definitely cheaper back in the day, but now they're running $630- $680 due to low production and high overall demand. I don't think they'll be around much longer especially with their newer models getting more popular, but while they are, they'll be on my recommended list.

These are great guns. The SP2009 is the same thing. It's basically a P229/P228 with a polymer frame. They dont cost as much as the 228/229, but youre really not getting shortchanged. It is simply a cheaper process to manufacture a polymer frame.

I wish they would revisit the SP line, but it appears that they would rather go for the higher end on things with their 1911s and the legions. Last budget firearm they made was 320 and a lot of people will not go near those thanks to that recall they had. I guess the 365s are kind of budget but I'd like to see some sa/da with decocker designs make a come back.

For a personal carry feature I'll agree with you. But for one that sits in the home, and everyone knows where to find it, and what the lci is and has been trained to look for it just in case a need arises for home defense it's a nice addition. I've lived with people who aren't firearm savvy and don't wish to educate themselves any further but want one in the house just in case. These people benefit the most from that. And if someone is new to firearms it's also a nice feature as they can just glance and know there's a round in the chamber without having to look in the breach and look for brass.

Affordable, reliable, accurate, 15+1 cap, can tell the state of firearm just looking at it, decocker, smooth and clean 4/10lb trigger pull, SA/DA for second strike because you're more likely to have issues with ammo than the gun itself (which is also preferable to start new shooters with who are not used to clearing ftf's) Small enough to conceal, large enough to handle comfortably and confidently. You also saw it's value and deemed it worthy of carrying yourself didn't you?

Beginner firearm ? Nah, you should change the title. The California version does NOT have an LCI which is awesome. Sure they only come with 10 round magazines. But it still accepts the larger capacity mags. At least I hope because I just bought one.

Try the p320 police did they go off by themselves they sent em all back

I believe the P320 only went off if it was dropped or impacted at the correct angle range on the back of the slide. Definitely something I hope people who purchase one are aware of. I've never heard of a SIG with a hammer having the same issue though, and I believe all other models have been cleared. Everyone gets it wrong at some point, Sig is no exception.

Why do they do that at ranges. Slow it down. People need to practice rapid fire and double taps.
@DFWPewReview
@DFWPewReview Жыл бұрын
Haha, I'm not 100% on all the reasons, but just from watching some new shooters on the range, you definitely don't want someone green testing their limits when they're just learning to shoot. Also you don't want the new people getting jumpy by a lot of people around them performing mag dumps. Sometimes you get lucky and they'll let you have at it for a min, other times you're not as lucky. This guy is cool though, and just doing good job.

That is what i like about Mine .Drop safety .You will feel a lot safer with The sig under your Pillow than a Glock ? I am sure of That .2023.

For sure! I've slept comfortably next to my sig for almost 12 yr. While I have nothing against Glock, I trust a SA/DA trigger with a hammer over a striker 24/7 365!

@@DFWPewReview that striker will last longer than you would think. I know a guy who has only purchased one handgun since he came back from the marines in the 90s. It's either a first or a second Gen glock that he's had for years. Never had to change a thing out on it yet.
@DFWPewReview

@@fuuuuuwahhhh5276 While what you say is accurate, It's not really the longevity or reliability of the striker that leads me to say this. After putting tens of thousands of rounds down range if not more, I've seen struck primers that fail to go off in both striker and hammer fire handguns and you can never predict when that will happen. In a hammer fire pistol you can just squeeze the trigger again and 9 times out if 10 it will send that round down range, where as the striker fired handgun will have to be racked again which can cost you both a round and extra time. This is why I feel more comfortable sleeping next to a hammer fire firearm to protect my family. My ccws are all striker fired however so I definitely don't have a problem with trusting them.

Why do you call a gun a beginners gun?There's no such thing,because you can never make a stupid excuse that you just have begginers gun,that's why you discharged this firearm.

Ease of use, the ability to see exactly what state the firearm is, reliability in terms of being able to double strike a round if you have to, while also knowing that this one has seen well over 10k round without a single malfunction, knowing it can cycle every type of ammo on the market, having the ability to decock to a double action trigger pull, having a lighter than most trigger pull in single action, using a manageable round that just about everyone can control, not being giant and heavy while also not being so small to barely make a good hand purchase on it, while also being a good size to conceal, while also being in a price point that almost anyone can afford. I just listed 12 reasons why a firearm can be considered good for beginners, and this one fits all 12. Just because it's a nuance to you, does not mean that a good beginners firearm does not exist.

I mean its not ‘beginners’ gun by no means.. Its gun designed for 20 year use in Gendarmerie and to replace revolvers in GIGN. Also, issued to few Legion regiments…. Usual ,reliable military/services gun…..
