All the haters can pound sand. The Sig SP2022 is a great gun. It upholds Sig Sauer's great reputation. We have two of these guns in our family and are excellent and ready for combat. Over 1200 rounds through mine during defensive / combat trainings over the last year and not a single problem and is an accurate gun.

I have had my SP2022 9mm for a couple months now and I absolutely love this handgun. The fit and finish are amazing and this thing is very accurate. Yay! You love the gun I bought - my first handgun! Actually (don't flame me), I have the .40 version of this gun. I got it used at a steal, and with night sights, I couldn't pass it up for my first gun. The grip is like sandpaper, and is seriously solid. I fired it for the first time last weekend, and put 250 rounds through it. the recoil was much lighter than I thought. I was shooting 180 grain ammo, and expected more recoil.

Excellent review. I had never heard of the SP2022 until recently when I saw a used one in a pawn shop for under $250. I did some quick research and headed back that afternoon to buy it. I prefer the way this feels in the hand over my Ruger P95, and Beretta PX4 Storm (both of which I love). I agree that SIG got it right with the grip surface too. All around sweet gun.
@1791Actual8 жыл бұрын
Yeah... And? It runs flawlessly, even when dirty, it's accurate, and comfortable in the hand.

I've owned my SP2022 for several years now. Purchased for $599 (In California, hence the higher price) and I love it. I've been a SIG fan since I was 9 years old and was first introduced to hand guns. Mines chambered in .40 S&W and therefore does NOT have the traditional LCI, however on the right side of the chamber IS a small slot where, in decent lighting, you can see if a round is chambered or not. I bought mine with night sights. This gun really does get a bad rap. The poly frame makes for a little more recoil (which is to be expected with the weight drop) but any good shooter who practices will develop the muscle memory and learn to adapt to the recoil. The only two things I'm not a fan of: 1. the grips. But that's just a personal thing for me and you get used to them. There are some alternatives out there to cope with this, but they're few and far between which brings me to my other down side.. 2. Lack of "support" for lack of a better term. Since the SP2022 isn't THE Sig gun (It ain't the 226 or 229) there aren't a lot of ready made options for it such as holsters, replacement grips, etc. I was able to find a Blackhawk stage 1 Serpa for it, and SIG's website DOES offer a few retention holsters, but if you want to get someone that'll handle accessories, it'll most likely have to be custom made. (I mount a TLR 3 on it on occasion and have to use a generic leg system to carry it. I live in an Open Carry state) Overall, despite the couple of short comings I've not been too fond of, I LOVE My SP2022. I carry it every day. I've put 12,000+ rounds through it and every round has gone off and hit the target. I can group consistently 3-4" at 25+ yards. Reloading is a breeze with the well placed mag release. (My reload time is less than 1 second if I'm focused on it and pulling from a mag holder, maybe a full second if pulling from my back pocket). Overall, just because the gun has a poly frame and has a few short comings you're still getting the SIG quality in an affordable hand gun. But the bottom line is it ain't for everyone. Go to your local range and see if they have one to rent. You'll either like it or you won't. That being said, everyone who has fired mine has fallen in love with it, and I know 2 people who went out and bought one after firing mine. :)

With so many polymer framed pistols out there, let me tell you why this is the best. 1. External hammer 2. manual de-cock 3. no safety You just load it and rack the slide and de-cock. At this point it's like a revolver with 15 rounds except it goes SA after the first round fired.

Bless me Father, for I am a SIG-Sauer addict. That being said, my confession should come as something of a shock to the gentle reader. I picked up a 2022 (used, $400, 2 mags, case and papers) and was just the happiest guy. Then it got kinky. I took the little bastard to the range and fed it a mixed diet of reloads and the tupperware wonder just ate them all. Cast, jacketed, it just did not matter. The issue that I had was the grouping. The new kid had charisma, but little grace...

this gun is great for the lefty shooter . reversible mag release. and I use the index finger for slide release and de-cocker. the pad of my trigger fingers fit perfect on the trigger, yeah I try to switch hit with it to form muscle memory. on both hands still have to draw with left . when I switch hands I switch eyes too. something to practice .just in case.

This was my first pistol I've ever owned. For $399 nib, you just cant beat it. I 100% agree with every point you made. I think you should have made the point that it has interchangable grips as well. HUGE pro for me and my large hands. I will also say that I have fed around 1k rounds through it and only a couple failure to ejects. I also like how easy it is to field strip and clean. My #1 gripe is that accessories are very hard to come by.

Sigs are known for having a "HIGH" bore axis..Not a low bore axis like you said in your video..
@nelsonstephen2010 жыл бұрын
No they have a low bore axis, meaning that the line in which your hand sits, in relation to the bore is low. In the case of the Glock, the line which your hand sits is closer to the line where the bore sits, meaning it has a higher bore axis.

maybe I got a really good one but while qualifying for my permit I had a friend loan me his. I'd never shot one before,hell I'd never heard of one. it was brand new in the box. The first round (of three) I hit a 226 out of a possible 240. The second round i hit 238. The final was a perfect 240. The only problem I had was a few f.t.e's on the first round,but a generous dose of ballistol and a wipe down took care of that. far as I'm concerned any criticism of this piece has to be taken at it's source. It IS a Sig after all. Thanks.

Mr. ColionNoir, I greatly enjoy your videos and think you are well spoken. One thing you should know is that if you rest your thumb on the slide release; there is a good chance the slide will not lock to rear upon the last shot. That is because your thumb is applying pressure on the slide release and not allowing it to move up and catch the slide. I learned this when I first started shooting my P229 and had to slightly adjust my grip to prevent that from happening. The SP2022 is a great weapon.

I own a Sig 2022 in 9mm. So far I've put 2000rds through it in 3 different pistol courses. It's very accurate, runs when it's dirty/sandy/muddy, covered in sweat. The Glock 19 beats it on size and I'll recommend the G19 over the 2022 but if you just can't swing the extra $150 for the G19, get a 2022. My 2022 has a worn finish but it's been used a lot. This gun rides in my Xterra constantly and is my "If I have to walk home" gun. Everyone that shoots it is impressed. For $350, I am.

This gun is pretty awesome. Very versatile, very reliable and accurate, good home defense, could carry in a pinch, fun at the range. Only problem, if you shoot with your thumb on the slide release like that, the slide won't lock back on the last round. That can throw you for a bit of a loop.

I don't like DA/SA pistols myself. I've grown up shooting Glocks, XDs and now carry a Ruger SR9 as my goto fighting pistol. With that said, I've recently spent a some time shooting the Sig P250. I find the trigger to be smooth, but very long. I don't care for that, so I've decided that my first (and likely only) Sig Sauer pistol will be the 2022. I agree with MrColionNoir that for the price, you just can't beat it. At my local Academy Sports, they have the Sig 2022 for $399 plus tax.

The SP2022 is in reality the "new and improved" P-228. It's the same size, same bulk, and control system, only less expensive than the -228. The SP2022 has four, rather thick and bold slide rails to handle slide movement, and the only "unSIGlike" issue I can find is the need to pop out the slide stop to remove the slide-barrel assembly versus super convenient rotating lever on the P-series. I love the "sand-paper" texture grips, and the smaller grip that fits perfect...even better than my P-228 and P-229, both with the E2 grip.

I purchased the one in 9MM and absolutely love this gun. Sig Sauer did not miss a beat. It feels great in the hand and for a double stacked magazine gun it feels pretty thin and not bulky at all when carrying inside the waistband. You cannot be the quality, reliability and it os definitely a combat pistol. I have held and owned a lot of pistols over the years, but I have to Sig Sauer got it right with this gun. I am extremely happy with it. I picked mine up on sale out in Southern California for $510 and ot retails for $679.00. I could not be happier with it. What can I say it is a Sig why should one expect any less of quality in their great firearms.

I think it's odd that p226 mags won't work in the p2022.. 15 round double stack mags for 2 similarly sized pistols. Seems like it would be more efficient for them to have the same mag for both.

I've had one in .40 for over a year and have to say I agree with the review excellent gun and honestly the best buy out there flawless.

I live in dayton ohio, and all of the gun shops around me are selling this Sig 2022 for $499 for contrast sights and $599 for the night sights

Oh and if you ever get the urge it'd be cool to see how that gun (and others) field strip. I've seen this gun before and really liked the price but I have to admit I listened to some of the trash talk on the net about it and shied away from it. It's hard not to let all the rumors seep into your opinions sometimes, at least for me. Glad to see they were wrong.

Ohhhh, the only thing I hate about this gun is it's availability - super hard to find in NY. Don't know why.

Own one chambered in .40 and I love it! Some ftf here and there, but I honestly hold myself to blame for that. It is big for concealed but I use a fox hybrid in the pants holster and it feels amazing. Great review on a great platform.

The French Federal Police carry the 2022.

The creep in SA that you're talking about is characteristic of most DA SA pistols. This is not a flaw, but is designed that way as a safety feature, because it (Sig pro) breaks at 4.4 pounds after the take up. My brothers HK P2000 and HK USP have more take up in SA than my Sig Pro does and those guns are phenomenal. Striker fired pistols like the Glock have less take up b/c the trigger breaks at over 6 pounds stock, so the take up is not needed as a safety feature due to the heavier break.

I have a SP2022 40, absolutely Love it but was surprised that it only had one magazine and a spare was $50.00.
