I met LFG at the Classic in Tulsa before his channel exploded. It was super cool chatting with him for a few minutes. He seemed kind of surprised that someone knew his channel back then. Guy seems like a real genuinely good dude and someone who’d be a fun time to share a boat with for a day.

When fighting larger fish on the fly rod, get the fish on the reel so you have the reel's drag working for you. Hold the line as steady as possible as you reel up the slack line off of the boat deck and then fight the fish as you normally would. Let go of the reel handle when the fish runs and allow the drag to maintain pressure on the fish.

I respectfully disagree. Make the fish earn the reel. Most big fish are lost when fly anglers try to force the fish onto the reel. I prefer salmon and trout but a lot of guys fish LMB with fly rods. Topwater poppers and jig flies. Tons of fun.

That rod tap method is brilliant for putting a little action on the fly. My p.b. Small mouth was on the fly from a bellyboat and was around 6lb. It was a crazy hard fight that took a couple minutes to get in, at least it felt that way. That bugger was pulling me around really well

A little tip; when your partner is a lefty (Matt) you should both be casting out the end of the boat, instead of both throwing thru the middle.
