Sight Modifications for the 405 Win HD 1080p

Could no longer see the very thin Ashley front post with it's white middle stripe. It was fading out on all sorts of backgrounds. ought a big fat post from Skinner.... bought it too short. What's a guy to do?

I'm glad to see the medicine gun stretch it's legs once again. I'm taking mine out this week for black bear using factory loaded 300gr Hornady sp. Wish I could find some of those TSX bullets or any .405 reloading equipment as I'm down to just 50 rounds left. lol Good luck on your bison hunt!

Yeah, they don't include the dove tail in the measurements. Did the same thing year's ago.

Nice 👍 I always like to be 3 in high at 100 for my point blank range. The nice thing about the way you're set up now is if you're shooting further you'll have a longer zero to start with without having to make any adjustments. 5 in high is a little much though. Not sure how far you'll be shooting at your bison but if you're shooting two or three hundred yards it definitely could work. Thank you 👍

yes..what I like about it is that the receiver sight is against the frame of the rifle. If Dropped it's supported by more than just the elevation screw. Pretty hardy setup.

I've got the same gun...unfortunately it was one of the earlier ones that wasn't D&T for the receiver sight.... Also have a 1885 Sporter that has a William's receiver sight..

I have been close to buying one of these 1895 a couple times, but even with Williams sights on all my lever guns their a 100-150 yard gun, 200 yards if everything is perfect, since getting my Husky 1640 in 9.3x62 with a 22 in bbl topped with a Leupold freedome 1-4, I just can put it down. and consistant hit to 300.

Open sights, means short range. So tsx eould still be fast enough to expand. You just have to have the judgement, not to take long shots.

It should open up to 200 yards or so.

Sorry I fooled you too many times....Yes. I will take it for sneaking in bush or mixed bush where shots are 200 or less. The 358 Norma will be for open area hunting. I am going to put two gun boots on my snowmobile.

Just curious which Williams aperture site you are running on your 405? On their website the one they list for the 1895 says it will not work for 405 caliber for some reason. I’ve been trying to figure out what to put on my 405.
