As someone who really struggles with all but the most simplistic of rhythms, this appears to be an incredibly intuitive method of progressing out of that particular rut. 👍

Glad to hear it! This method should help you build confidence with more complex rhythms. Keep at it, and you’ll see great progress!

This was a really good video. The only thing possibly missing was explaining what the dotted notes meant. Some watching this video might not know what value the dot adds.

That’s right I stumbled on the dotted note Came as surprise so…….please ensure all notation on the screen is explained Thanks A really helpful video 😊

A dotted note is where you add halve the original a value to a note So a dotted quarter note Becomes a quarter note plus 8th Total duration 1.5 beats

You can slow down the video by adjusting the playback speed in the KZbin settings. Just click on the gear icon and select a slower speed. Happy learning!

1/ Thanks for introducing reading music to beginner bass players. 2/ Why use just the American system of names for notes. A quarter note = crotchet. The American system is hopeless because a quarter note is only a quarter note in 4/4 and therefore extremely confusing for beginners. Also, you’re British! 3/ Most sight readers will tell you to look a bar or even two ahead of the beat. ‘The Eye Bounce System’ 😂 You two are obviously desperate to crack the American market! 😂😂
