This such a great video, your tips brought me right up to speed with Moondance. I went from basically hanging on the root (poorly I might add), to locking in and helping the band find a nice groove for a nice version of this classic tune. Is there any chance you could do a similar video for the the Allman Bros "In memory of Elizabeth Reed". It's long with a few complex parts, the way you broke down Moondance was perfect...

Outstanding lesson. This is the best way, at least for me, to learn a new song. Start off with the most basic root note bass line and then gradually build it up. It really helps me to understand what is happening within the song. It's also very useful for when you get a bit lost and have to improvise something on the spot. Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this. It's a classic song every bass player should know.

Thanks James. Richard here. I’ve been using the advanced riffs for months and the band loves it. One observation though. It seems that you fret the strings right on top of the fret as opposed to the center of two frets. Sometimes I can’t tell which note you’re playing. Am I playing incorrectly? Is this a technique issue? Should I be closer to the fret and not in the middle between two frets?
@ebassguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi Richard Play just behind the fret and it everything should work nicely:-)
@warrensnead61655 жыл бұрын
Beautiful lesson! I'll work on it after work today. I learn everything by ear because i can't understand notation eventho I've tried for years. Is there a easy way to understand without costing a lot of time and money? I don't have a lot of either.

Thanks for the insight...R
