Crazy to think they were producing this kind of sound in the early 90’s. The album released in ‘92. You’ve leapt into a potential deep rabbit hole if you choose to continue. Faith No More has such a broad and eclectic sound, you sometimes won’t see what’s coming. Just when you think you’ve figured out their distinction, you listen to another track and find yourself wondering how this is the same band. That is just the FNM rabbit hole. Let’s go a little deeper, shall we? Mike Patton was named the number 1 singer in all popular recorded music in terms of range, specifically. D1-F7… He is also the vocalist to over a dozen bands, here’s a few for example: Mr. Bungle Lovage Tomahawk Fantômas Peeping Tom Mondo Cane The Dillinger Escape Plan (for 1 EP) Etc. etc. etc…. The deeper you go, the more you will find yourself wondering, “Holy fuckbeans! This man is not only covering every genre, but he’s singing in multiple different languages?!” You will be happy you took the leap by the end of it. I certainly hope you choose to. Have a happy journey.

I’m sure others have pointed out already, but this was the definitive 90s album. As for the title, I was 11 or 12 when I first heard it, so no clue what jizzlobbing was. But from reading the lyrics ages ago, I always had the impression it’s sung by a rapist who can’t escape the memories of the crimes. There’s a reoccurring line about stuffing it under his mattress but it’s making him itch. As you already know, “Epic” and “Falling to Pieces” were their key to success. So they opted to follow it up with the polar opposite of that album. Granted, “the Real Thing” was Patton’s first album with them. He was already making waves with Mr. Bungle at that point, and his seemingly limitless range of vocals. So writing a follow-up gave him a bigger opportunity to put his spin on the album. Plus, their bass player Billy Gould is a genius. Truly the brains behind their madness.

This album brings such a prominent time in my life back in my mind like no other music ever has. Listening to this album on break from the grocery store I stocked produce at. Definitely! This album got me through the aftermath of a nasty motor cycle wreck that left my best friend paralyzed from the neck down and I with a mild brain injury and numerous broken bones and my HS sweetheart leaving me for my stepbrother. My paralyzed friend lost his girlfriend too but he found a new love. 30 years later and this album still makes everything just a little better than horrible in my life. At 48 years old now I'm still trying to get my life back together and am still in constant pain. Things are going to be very different for me in just a few weeks! I'm selling a business and I'm going to travel the world. Hopefully I'll catch me a Mike Patton show. Thanks y'all! Love that you love it too!

Faith No More is the band that is almost impossible to classify.😀 They became famous with that other song you`ve mentioned which is called "Epic", with its radical mix of hip-hop, rap and metal with the amazing chorus Mike Patton sang nasally that sounded almost like pop & r`n`m, but that`s the song from the album The Real Thing (1989) and that kind of blend was also way ahead of its time. They were regarded as a progressive funk-metal band in those days. With the next album from 1992, which is a way darker, as you witnessed with this song, they started to use more experimental approach. For instance, this song Jizzlobber was created under heavy and, in that time - rising influence of death-metal genre.😉🙂 But here they also made songs in some country style, along with the songs in well established funky-rap-metal way, only with Patton singing less nasally, but more mannishly and deep, and with the famous cover of Commodores "Easy" that seems like a cherry on the top of the cake - because this cover is so slick, so swaggy, so wonderfully delivered in singing, and mellow instrumentally, that it became an instant hit and a sort of an anthem to generation X of 90`s...And this is what you need to check out.🙂Mandatory..😃You will be astonished by Mike`s vocals in this song, trust me. 😉🙂But also, you must hear: "Midlife Crises" (something like "Epic", funk-rap-metal, only more darker...😉) and the funky rides of "A Small Victory" and "Everything`s Ruined"... 🙂The thing is that with the next album from 1995. "King for a Day...Fool for a Lifetime" they managed to incorporate even more genres into their sound, so on this album you can find: Brazilian `bossa-nova`, pure funk of 70`s and swing-jazz with brass and pipes, punk-core, even traces of earlier death-metal with growls and everything... but also some wonderful and tender ballads, such as country-sh "Take This Bottle", undeniable and so sexy pop-soul-funk (dance?!) hit "Evidence"😀and the closing title for the album - "Just a Man" that combines sounds of China and Far East with chorus in a gospel-way, a `Far West`, blending the opposite sides of the World, and its magic and pure beauty. 🙂Funny named "Album of the Year" from 1997. is suddenly cut out from genre experimenting, riding with the pretty monotonous sound, but which also showed the final maturity of this band, with some extras in a form of electronic music. 🙂The titles that stick out are: "Stripsearch", funky ambient-electronic song with some beautifully sang lines in famine style altogether with manish pop-soul manner from Mike Patton, mighty and amazing power-emo-core ballad "Ashes to Ashes" and very distinctive "Last Cup of Sorrow" that leans on this well grown line of previous generic hits like "Epic" and "Midlife Crises".... The reason why this post is so big with all this info is 😋that I recognized some sort of your interest for this band and their amazing sound, with whom I`m way too familiar, so I decided to simply share the best of what this band has in hope that you`ll continue to react to their songs, or even to something that`s off of this list...😀 Anyway, whatever you decide or might think, once again - here`s this glorious list: 1. Easy; 2. Midlife Crises; 3. A Small Victory; 4. Everything`s Ruined; 5. Diggin the Grave; 6. What a Day; 7. Take this Bottle; 8. Evidence; 9. Just a Man; 10. Stripsearch; 11.Ashes to Ashes, and; 12.Last Cup of Sorrow...😇If I managed to persuade you, I know I won`t be the only one who`ll be happy about it...😇Just..take your time and hurry up, as they say, hahah..🙂Much obliged & greetings... 🙂😉🙂

@@SightAfterDark It wasn`t a problem at all.🙂Tnx so much, guys.🙂 He really has an incredible range, over 6 octaves! 🤪And he`s into all kind of various music genres - to the perfection. 🤗Looking back, I see that I skipped the first FNM album (with him, since there are 2 previous albums without his `highness`😄), so I`ll just add a few more on that list from this album, OK?🙂 Good, well, you obviously heard "Epic"...🙂Let`s add, for example: 1. "The Real Thing", song that has a album`s title, fantastic rep-pop-metal rhapsody about the dangers of addiction....!; 2. "Zombie Eaters", another rap-metal hit, goofy story-telling from a perspective of a little (devil`s) child, with beautiful intro that repeats from time to time and at the end; 3. "From Out of Nowhere", a romantic call of a young stud, fast power-metal-pop-rock; 4. "Falling to Pieces", similar to a previous one, but with some introspective view; 5. "Surprise! You're dead! ", metal-rap holocaust !; and finally 6. "Edge of the World", a beautiful jazzy ballad without any guitar (!), with tender crooner singing about a strange, pedophile-alike situation!...Still magical and funny! The list is now complete.🙂😀

From what I've heard, the title and lyrics for this track were inspired by the character Miggs from the film Silence of the Lambs who was one of Hannibal Lecter's fellow inmates. It was supposedly Patton's imagining of this character's particular insane perspective.

OK, so here's the thing. This was 1992/93. The whole album is amazing. This song is brilliant, in the context of the album, and also I think was really the last input from the guitarist Jim before he was shown the door. Everyone expected them to do "The Real Thing Part 2", but they completely diverted from it. Nearly every FNM album is completely different to every other. They really really broke ground in terms of not trying to live up to expectations, and to simply follow what interested them creatively. In the 90s, everyone was trying to replicate FNM. Angel Dust is one of their best.

Faith no More is actually older, than Red Hot Chilli Peppers, going back to 1979, and RHTP to 1983.. Although Mike Patton, the lead singer only joined in 1988, and to present day. And RHCP's first major hit and music video, was "Give it away", from 1992, whereas FNM's first major hit probably was "Epic", from 1989. In that music video, Mike dances and acts much like the guys in RHCP's videos.

Jizzlobber is really hard to interpret taken out of context of the whole album. it's a deep track for that very reason. I don't think the title Jizzlobber has any real significant meaning, other than it's vulgar and probably was just funny to them. Maybe it's a reference to Migs throwing cum in Clarice Starlings face in The Silence of The Lambs? That kind fits with the lyrics. the song itself is about fear and loathing in the face of some sort of consequence. Mike Patton uses prison metaphors throughout the song, so maybe it's shame and guilt?

I love FNM. I saw them back in 1995 at the very peak of their powers. They were standing up on a balcony, grooving to the warm up band. And then, when they took the stage, they did pushups for 5 minutes before playing a single note. Gotta warm up, right! I also found it funny when they played their hit cover "Easy". That's when all the previously confused teenage girls rushed towards the stage with an excited "Eeeeeek!!!". Whereupon Roddy (the keyboard player) demanded that they all DANCE! And they did! 😂

The Kiedis and Patton beef was stupid at first, and spiraled into insanity in 00. It's too long winded to type out, but jabs in the press, jabs with album release dates and festival dates...and the Halloween show.

hahaha Mike Patton and Anthony Kiedis literally hate each other's guts, going all the way back to the first FNM album with Patton on it.

The title is the name for the person that cleans up the viewing booths at peep shows and video booths at some adult movie stores. The lyrics are from the perspective of a jizzlobber.

Thank you guys for reacting to this song. It really shows Mike’s range. If I can steer you further down the Patton rabbit hole then there are a couple more songs you need to hear. “When Good Dogs Do Bad Things” from the Dillinger Escape Plan EP “Irony Is A Dead Scene w/ Mike Patton” “Deep Down” from “Mondo Cane”. This is Mike Patton’s Italian pop album. Done with a live orchestra.

Hmm. I always interpreted it as being about masturbation guilt. Either way, a great song.

Yeah, Mike Patton has so much going on. The bands he is involved with is almost up to 10. The whole band is cuts above the watered down b.s.

The song…. It’s about a guy who works, well… he cleans up at a porn theater cleaning up “spilled milk” getting to a good clean smell😂 let’s say he’s overwhelmed by his job, does that paint a picture for ya?

just before Mike Patton was born God said to him are you sure you are happy with your stats ie your height, or size, would you like to be any bigger? stronger, "Mike just looked at God & smiled & said "Thankyou God, my main man" I'll be fine, I may not be the biggest man in the room BUT everyone shall know my voice, I will sing every note, & then create some new Ones, the power this man weilds, "his weapon of choice is his voice!" & it makes everyone who hears it at one stage in their life do a little piddle of fear! "he is a Sound System".

Oh, and as for "Jizzlobber", I dont think it means anything really. A lot of FNM songs have weird titles, and the names the band knows them by is even weirder. Especially with Patton, dont read too much into the lyrics or titles, as he generally writes lyrics almost as a form of percussion, where the sound of the word is more important than the meaning. Lots of FNM lyrics mean absolutely nothing.

As a big fan of FNM I offer a couple of corrections: It's an album from the early 90's. And the band has had NUMEROUS lineup changes over the years. Even taking on Courtney Love as vocalist in the 80's.
