Trav and Civvie seem to be friends, given he got Civvie to play Half Life Decay with him. Civvie also confirmed in a recent video that “Katie” is merely a fictional character, meaning all the editing in his vids really are all him, so it’s likely Civvie might’ve taught Trav some tricks.

​@@BloodRedFox2008 I already knew that Katie was fictional since long before then but that part of the video was unsettling because Civvie was so genuinely upset that for the first time in the history of his channel (I'm pretty sure anyway, I've seen all of his videos several times over) that he completely broke character. Imagine how terrible something has to be that Civvie dropped the performative anger he does for laughs, he dropped the jokes about being a prisoner and the channel lore, all so he could make it completely clear that he wasn't exaggerating for entertainment value when talking about how bad the demo for Phantom Fury and the 1.0 release of Graven were.

Sigil 2 is Thy Flesh Consumed but Romero-fied™. Brutally difficult opening level, plenty of Cyberdemons, and missing having the Super Shotgun.

@@FightingForceSoulless Fair. I am no Doom pro, but I do feel like the Super Shotgun isn't *that* overpowered. It's slow fire-rate and low accuracy makes it weak on far-away targets and suck on enemies streaming in to your location. Those downsides don't matter much, but in large teleporter closets or upper-middle range encounters? There is more than plenty of usage for the Pump Shotgun.

I played Eviternity 2 and Sigil 2 basically back-to-back and the difference in design philosophy hit me like a brick. E2 was great, don’t get me wrong, but the maps were huge arenas meant to fight enemies in, while Romero makes the map geo itself an enemy: limiting your movement in fights and of course the traps and misdirection.

2:24 those are still teleporters in here as well. But the linedefs around them which have the teleport action are smaller than in Sigil 1. And the hitboxes in Doom are always squares that don't rotate. Even the player hitbox. So if you aproach them from diagonal angle you'll just bump into it. Because the corners of the object's hitbox are too close to the teleport lines.

How can you get that smooth and fluid movement of all the sprites? I mean guns and enemies. How can you get those "sparks" effect on the surface of the lava when you walk on it? And HOW can you gib cacodemos and even Barons??? I mean, all those particles effects looks very nice, meat, blood, everything, and fits perfect for the classic aesthetics

Regarding verticality: The original Doom engine had issues with very tall sectors that could lead to game crashes. Sigil II requires a limit-removing port, so this issue is fixed, allowing for the more vertical map you note. However, Sigil II was designed to be run on the official “Unity port” which has its own problem with extremely tall sectors, so Sigil II doesn’t scrape the sky of the verticality possible in Doom. (If you want to see something really tall, play No End In Sight E4M6 Sanctuary of Filth, which is what lead to the discovery of the tall sectors bug in the Unity port. As a result it isn’t in the version of NEIS available in the Unity port, and must be played in another sourceport.)
