I just wanted to make a short to video to share with you guys what I really like about the 1202-XE after using it for a couple of years.

HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2Td...
One of the symptoms is that is causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face.
It will kill me one day. I'm doing ok right now, but someday...

I am a proud owner of that same exact scope/model - yes I couldn't agree more - best bang for the buck in 2 channel scopes. The 2020 first stimulus check (partly) put to good use!

I got this for Christmas and I love it. You didn't even get to the best part, decoding serial! It's like some magic wizardry at sub $300 price point. If you would have told me that I could buy something that does nearly real time hex and binary decoding for under $300 I would have called you crazy.

This was a very helpful video even for owners of the HANTEK DS05202P which also has a reference feature. When I study brushless motors I use 'pin 1' to tell me where I am in the commutation sequence. I just 'realized' I can save the 'pin1' trace as a reference to compare to other test points. 👍 Thank you for posting!

I have the SDS 1104XE and quite like it. Seems like great value (about CAD $500) for a 4-channel scope. Glad I picked it up when I did as the electronics labs are all online this year.

Siglent goes much further with FFT. With enough data it resolves very small frequency differences. It also sorts and labels all the peaks, produces tables with the resulting data, and does it really quickly. The difference between entry-level scopes that do FFT with 1K or 2K points and one like this with 1M points and the oomph to process them is astonishing. This is also their entry-level scope!

I have the SDS2104X Plus. Sure its not entry level any more, would say its one oft the best Mid to higher-Range Oscilloscopes you can buy today! And the FFT is really powerfull with great and accurate results!

Hey! Love your videos, learn lots and appreciate your knowledge sharing. I have this exact scope and I do love it. There is a LF Reject and HF Reject option in the Trigger Setup menu under coupling. Not sure if that's exactly what you were referring to but LF Reject blocks anything 1.2Mhz

I appreciate your perspective on this subject. I actually bought a rigol 1054z and I would certainly put it in this middle category, that thing is the nicest tool I probably will ever own. It’s honestly kinda hard when you search for oscilloscope videos and find a guy using an arduino to show the basic features of a $5000 rhode and Schwartz scope..... or keysight is amazing in their giveaways but if they put that money to r&d maybe they could make a scope that’s less than $500? It’s just important to remember those scopes are for industry and not hobbyists tho.
@Markus2801A
@Markus2801A 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. R&S, Tektronix, Keysight do have nice scopes, but considering their prices, I'm not sure they are worth the money for hobbyists use! For companies who can afford, yes for sure they are the best scopes out there. But comparing those big market players with the cheaper, but really good, vendors wouldnt be fair!

The History feature is very useful for non-repeating waveforms, it lets you scroll back in time re the triggers. Also I find the browser based control & display (only available on the 4 channel version) very handy for screen capture both for stills using PC based screenshot tools and video capture eg LICEcap to make a GIF. You don't need the WiFi dongle for that, I just use an Ethernet cable direct to the PC (use fixed IP option if you don't have a Ethernet network in your lab). Much faster than moving a flash drive around.

I have a Siglent scope also but mine is only the 1102 DL+. I like it even if I am a beginner who is still learning what some of the features are some six months later, lol. **Edit** By the way, my Pico V2 breakout boards from PCBWay finally arrived today via snail mail. The $20 postage option to the US turns to $40+ to Australia.

Under trigger and coupling there's high and low freq cutoff options that act as low and high pass. I've got the same scope and love it, especially how much depth the fft has when you really zoom back on a signal to the ms/div.

I've bought the Hantek DSO2C10. It seems alright juz that when it comes to the 500ms time scale, the sampling rate goes down a lot. Perhaps, i'm not sure how to use it, haha. I'm a beginner with scopes so i'm gonna add this Siglent scope to my wishlist once i gain more experience! Thanks, Paul!

$400? I spent that much on an analog Tektronix from at least 30 years ago! Great scope, I like it. And I also like this scope. It's always good to have a few, analog and digital. This is definitely one I will consider when in the market for a digital scope.

I've been in the electronics game for most of my life, including going to school to learn. My main scope continues to be my analog Tektronix2245A. And I have an Owan SDS1102 as well. How many more do you need, to solve the electronics riddles?

@@MrDoneboy Lol I wish I could use only Flukes. I don't have a whole lot of test equipment, but I have a few inexpensive hand-held multimeters, a BK 1479B and Tektronix 2467 scopes. I'd like to get my hands on a Tek 1401A headless spectrum analyzer. But I'd like to get my hands on a lot of things.

Hey Paul, hope all is well and appreciate your detailed reviews. Have a question for you when you have time.. I'm a retired electrical engineer and would like to buy a more modern 4 channel oscilloscope as more of a hobby item use than profession. In my later years the job I had did not require much use of one, so I'm a bit rusty, but presently I own an old Mitsubishi 60mhz analog scope (married, so not much budget for cool gear haha). In your experience - which of these two 4-channel models would you recommend? I'm torn between Siglent or Rigol currently, but open to suggestions. Just trying to get the most bang for the buck basically. Siglent 1204-XE Rigol DS1054Z Thanks again for your advice!

Ive just ordered Rigol DS1104Z-S Plus , really disappointed with Hunter DSO2d15, compared to older Hanteks. Slow, fonts look rubbish and it locks up. And yes, latest software. Their 5series one, even tho its 7 years old was amazing

And build pedals and tube amp. From what I've read I'm still not sure what I need, and I hesitate between the siglent 1202x-e or sds2202x-e and the Owon XDS2102A. Could you please help me to decide?

Any 2 channel, 100MHz or greater scope will suit you. If you can get one with a built-in AWG that would be ideal but not required. I recommend this Hantek.amzn.to/30wzVBJ
