Nice work! Clear and nice demonstration of features! It feels good to make upgrades to your lab once you outgrow equipment!

Hi there John, great lab supply, I have a siglent too but looking little different at the display, but I'm happy with it, and it works great for my needs. I like your videos and allways something I'm picking up from your videos, regards

Thanks for the review John, very helpful. Have you had a chance to look at the outputs on your DSO to see how they perform on switch on / switch off - if there is any overshoot/undershoot on output voltage/current before settling. And/or how quickly current limit kicks in ?

Very good review ! By the way I've noticed at 3:10 that when you pushed All ON/OFF, channel 3 indicator right above terminals did not light up for some reason. Is that some kind of an issue?
@JohnAudioTech6 жыл бұрын
The channel works okay but the light never comes on or shows an overload if I short it. I'm not sure if there is a problem or if they decided not to use an indicator for channel three even though there is port on the front panel for it.

That is a nice power supply. I can't believe it is their low end model. It looks high end to me.

I am just wondering if you want bi-polar operation (i.e. 3 output: -15, 0, and 15V), would you use series or independent mode? and does the 0V output come out the + from channel 1 or do you need to physically connect + from CH1 to - from CH2? Thank you!
@JohnAudioTech7 жыл бұрын
You would use the series mode because it ties the channels together (no jumper needed between the channels for the center 0v node) and the voltage adjust is linked to be identical between the channels.

Thanks!

So the current setting is your maximum output, and the device will draw what it needs (up to that amount), correct?

How is it going today ?...cheers.

How do you do the +/- on it John. I'm just trying to do a simple op amp circuit to check out the rail to rail
@jopolu55097 ай бұрын
I assume you would put it in series mode and connect the channels to eachother, where red goes into red on the other. (don't have one myself)
@jstro-hobbytech7 ай бұрын
@jopolu5509 I've been in the hospital for a while (nothing serious) and I can't recall how I have my spd3303x (firmware updated it for the extra resolution hehe) hooked up. Even though I left it that way hahaha. Sorry man. It's easy though. Use a dmm and you'll have it done in a minute. Even two unlike psus do it.

Where did you get a 300W/120V incandescent!? I used to have a couple 200W ones... Would love to snag a 200W and 300W for my dim bulb tester.

Ace hardware had them for half off close out. You can get them at Menards.

Hi John, how’s the PSU going? Still holding up ok?

Yes, I used it in in may last video.

Valuable review. $300 is a tough call for some of us. For half that price, one could assemble, probably, 3ea homebrew PS's from Chinese buck/boost modules. HOWEVER, this badboy has a nice package arrangement, particularly the 3rd channel with 2.5, 3.3 and 5v at 3A. And I'm not sure what I would use the USB thing for, but that's a nice extra. You didn't mention any other brands you considered - what might have been the 2nd and 3rd runner-ups that you looked at? Best!

I looked at the SPD3303X which I think is essentially the same but includes a color LCD screen that shows more information and has a timer function. For $80 less, I figured the base model will do. I looked at the Rigol PSUs. Nice but pricey for what I need. Looked on ebay but didn't see anything. When spending this much money, I think it is important that the manufacturer have a presents in the same country. Siglent has an US office in case warranty service or calibration is needed.

I saw the X model w/ color LCD when I looked for the C model's manual. This is gonna be a tough decision. The cheap power supplies are a cr@pshoot. I have one that after a few years has developed a CC setting defect. Thanks.

Worth the money? I plan to buy and do not know if it is worth it.

So far I am happy with mine, so I'd say it is worth it.

And how does the short circuit protection work, because I saw the backlight is crazy when the short circuit.
@JohnAudioTech7 жыл бұрын
It goes into current limit if you short it.

greatscott's power supply beats this though, shows down to 1mA precision and also displays the load power, set voltage and current limits at the same time. xD
