I love my Sigma 105 mm F1.4. It works flawlessly on both my Z6 and z5. Seeing I am a big guy with big hands the weight factor is not a problem. It is hands-down the sharpest lens I have tried. The bokeh is so smooth and buttery it feels like every photo has that magical glow to it. My clients have expressed how much they love the 3-D effect it produces. I haven’t taken it off my camera yet.

Its truly one of the better lens in Sigma line up. I think the only few lens that can beat it are those that cost more then 2x and super telephotos.

With the r5 it rarely focus on the eye lashes. I kept the 85mm since I bought it way before the 105mm and it’s still slightly better. No reason to change

hi, i would like to know, when we use non rf lens with adapter,does it brings some issues or effects to imagine quality on so on...? some people say because of using adapter u will get some space between your camera and lens, so it won't be real 105 mm. what u think about that?

That’s incorrect. The EF mount originally is deeper then the RF. That adapter is to just make the RF mount have the same depth as the EF mount. In general lens design, space between lens and sensor does reduce quality, but in this case the lens was designed for that space in the original EF mount which have a moving mirror

135mm has higher edge sharpness, but 105mm is a product related to the cinema lens in the sigma art 2.0 era. Its quality, workmanship, especially bokeh blur are perfect

Great and rare comparison. Here in Brazil, the Sigma 105mm f1.4 costs half the price of the Canon RF 85mm f1.2. I have an R6II + RF 50mm f1.8 that I use as a point and shoot. I will only buy this Sigma for a few occasions.

You mean Canon mirrored dslr right ? That’s true in the past but the newer sigma lens are more accurate however the older dslr accuracy is still limited by how good the AF sensor and how accurate it was offset. Still if AF accuracy if your no1 priority, get first party lens.

@@stevenmeansphotography3861 it should be ok with this lens . But 1.4 is still very shallow so the the chance of you hitting critical focus on the mirrored style dslr is Low. The 5d IV in live view will get almost 100% accurate shot though. The older sigma 85mm art however have a less accurate AF system

Hello my friend, since canon banned 3rd party lens, it seems like there won't be any sigma 105mm for canon rf soon. what's your thoughts on it. I've been using the rf 85 1.2 for past 3 months exclusively and love it, my 200f2 i only use for my family portraits once per year

Have you had any problems with the ef to rf adapter? Ive noticed when I adapt my Sigma 70-200mm lens using the canon adaptor, the focusing wigs out at times and I have to turn it off

there maybe a few factor. Firmware and launch year of the lens. I noted lens using older AF motors before I think around 2017 are not as accurate or maybe have issues. And Sigma I notice some of their newer zoom lens are just old lens recased such as the sports 120-300mm, which makes them unreliable still. Which variant of 70-200mm do you have? it maybe due to firmware or using a older tech thats causing the issue.

Autofocus is fine with sigma on both r5 or cine camera from canon. Its probably ok to make videos for it but the focus raking wont be as smooth

The 110 is the sharper monster. I dont have the 110 anymore, but I compared with the 85mm F1.2 before, it is slightly sharper and as corrected or slightly more so then the 85 1.2. As such it should perform, similarly in this comparison of 85mm F1.2 to 105mm, slightly better.

It is darn heavy for the 200mm. I did a review for that too and that thing is a monster too haha. I think the biggest difference is that 105 is treated as a short tele, while 200mm is treated as a tele. And it’s painted white so it’s together with the bunch of heavy super whites.

@@ZPProductions it’s as accurate as the 85mm 1.4G was. Focus isn’t instant 200 F2/300 2.8 super tele speed, but it’s very accurate in tracking AFC on a moving subject.

In rewatching this, you're basically saying the Sigma 105mm is the same as the RF 85mm 1.2. This reminds me of comparisons between Martin D28/D35 guitars and Yamaha LL16Ds. The Sigma shouldn't be on the same level as the RF 85mm, at all, and yet people like the sound of the Yamaha better.

after you listed all the weaknesses of the 105 1.4 vs the 85 1.2 you still say its 98% of the 85 =))))) that is NOT 98%. The Bokeh of the 85 1.2 is already softer and you can clearly see it. You dont need to label the photos and I can still pick out the 85 because the bokeh is much smoother on the 85. Knowing that the 85 has shorter distance to subject, faster focus, more accurate focus, sharper, nicer bokeh, better aberration control and yet you still say its 98% of the 85 lol. With all that advantages the 85 clearly show that it's worth the extra price. If you cant afford the 85 1.2 then it's not for you. Professional photographers who can make money off of their equipment and enthusiasts who appreciate high quality lens would know that with those advantages of the 85, it's worth buying.
