Does it have linear manual focus? That's the question for filmmakers, really. The 18-35 does, and that's one of its strengths. Fly-by-wire on this new lens would be a problem on cameras (eg. Black Magics) without the ability to shift into linear mode.

From what I've seen it does not. Big oversight imo

You can do that with the Lumix cameras. They can make the focus by wire as linear focusing.

@@JericTamayo Cheers. Yes, I've heard that about the newer Lumix cams. Handy for that system. I was also wondering if the Sigma itself could be modified using the USB dock accessory - actually making the it linear directly within the lens. I can't find any info about that, unfortunately.

I would be all over this lens if I wasn’t still using Canon. I’ve been getting by with the Sigma 24-35 f/2 and punching into s35 mode for 50ish mm equivalent.
