Sigma 30mm F1.4 is PERFECT but....

I shot some sun-lit exteriors and some low-light interiors (a 190-year-old church) with a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 on a Canon 40D a couple of days ago, all handheld. It was my first experience with this lens and also with this camera. The results, shot in RAW and full manual, are mixed. Some interior shots are a bit "soft," but I think that's on me, not the lens. I'm out of practice shooting handheld and shooting manual, and I'm certain some of the softness is actually motion blur. I got enough good shots, especially the exteriors, to see the potential of the lens. Now to become a good enough photographer to leverage it.

Absolutely agree, the only downside is that is doesn’t have stabilization on the lens. But overall great lens on both exterior and interior. Thanks for sharing!!! 🙌🏼

@@Timotheoreviews Going to try it on my 5D next, on a tripod. Since Sigma doesn't put the Canon APS-C lump on it lenses, it mounts up just fine. It's even marked as an EF lens (red dot, no whites quare).

this lens is perfect and super compact for the price. I have to add that out of the sigma 16, 23, 30, 56 line its the softest especially wide open - it might be very good if you going for cinematic look (for video) or street photo. Good alternative to this in terms of quality (if weight and size is not an issue) is Viltrox 27mm 1.2. Overall nice video, cheers mate!

I tried the Viltrox 27, it's crazy sharp and has great build quality. But, it's also twice the cost of the Sigma 30.
