honestly, I love this argument for defying logic and going with something that just speaks to you. I get comments all the time about using the fp as my main camera and its encouraging to look at it from an aspect that "it just makes me feel a certain way" that is this camera for me. thanks again!

i think this kinda design is really good for Film-makers because of the modular design. Rigging it with desired accessories will be such a bliss.

I'm a portrait and glamour photographer in south Florida and I genuinely love shooting with the fp and the 85 1.4 on my professional paid shoots. I adore Sigma's color science and the dynamic range on the fp is wonderful.

One of my digital cameras is an fp. It does have great color science and dynamic range. I like that the fp is a member of the L-Mount Alliance which means that I can use my Leica glass. I also like the small physical size and never leave the house without it. I'm probably going to get an fp-l with the new viewfinder. A 61mp sensor and Leica glass should rival my medium format cameras, but in a smaller package.

Thanks for this! You basically confirmed why I want to get the Sigma FP as my new cinema camera.

I find it funny that 10 years ago we could do all those director's viewfinder functions on a Canon 550D/T2i with Magic Lantern firmware. Masks with different aspect ratios, anamorphic desqueeze and cropping. These features in themselves would be fairly easy to implement in any camera.

This is also a kick ass landscape / hikers camera.

I love the car analogy. The same thing draws me to the sigma fp line. It's different... and i like it. Thanks for the review.

This definitely is my Sapporo. I love the boxy design in a very small package. I miss a few things though. Flip up screen, better AF and Ibis, and a larger battery. I wouldn't mind if the camera got tiny bit larger. I was hoping fp l would bring those changes, I was really disappointed with fp l. What I'm looking for is a small fullframe camera for travel.

The main reason for me buying this camera is, full frame, easily adapts lenses(including my PL & EF, and Cdng, which is real raw, unlike ProRes Raw, or Braw.

Thoughtful review! Loved it 🙏🏾Just picked up an FP (not the L) last week and I couldn't agree more with your viewpoint on who this camera is for. We have soooooo much choice in front of us, but this little guy has worked its way deep into my heart. I've paired it with the EVF-11 and I can't remember the last time I've been as excited about or had as much fun using a camera. I'm primarily a BMPCC4K user, but this thing is so easy to pick and use that it gets me jazzed about creating like no other piece of gear has in a long while.

This'll be of interest - The Plymouth Sapporo was essentially a rebadged version of the Mitsubishi Galant Lambda, which was sold in Australia as the Chrysler Sigma and later as the Mitsubishi Sigma. More to the "Sigma/Sapporo" reference than you bargained for? :)

in terms of video how is the quality? same as fp?
@dramida2 жыл бұрын
It is perfect for drone photogrammetry: highest for a full frame, lots of quality lens, smallest size, able to power from usb or battery adapter, easy interface for trigger and hot shue.

Full frame 61MP in a camera that is the size and weight of a point and shoot. Big selling point for those of us who can no longer lug around a three to four pound camera.

This is the review I've been waiting for. Thanks for going into the cropping options. Question, can you output via hdmi or record at these crops?
@vistek3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon. Are you talking about in Director's viewfinder mode? I don't know to be honest, as I didn't even think to test that. I'm sure that if you hit record or take a photo, that the jpg would show the crop. And yes, there is a mini hdmi that you can use to record externally with (there are also 3 types of RAW available).
@jon47153 жыл бұрын
@@vistek In Sigma's specs they note a 1.5x to 5x crop factor. 1.5x is APS-C
@vistek3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, sorry I didn't know which crop you were referring to - since my video was largely focused on the director's VF feature. Yes, you can record in all sensor crops.
@jon47153 жыл бұрын
@@vistek I was assuming that the director's viewfinder functionality is tied into the crop factor specs. But I didn't know to what extent and how flexible and powerful those functions are.

I feel that Sigma hasn't quite figured their camera formula yet. If they were smart, then would follow Sony's example and listen to the consumers and what they are asking for. There is enough to love about Sigma cameras, but a whole lot not to love as well. I think because the Sony cameras exists, it's a harder sell for Sigma. They would have to do something truly revolutionary to the next camera for it to sell. And the price would have to be right to get people to switch. Kind of like when Panasonic came out with the GH4 and everything that camera had to offer at an extremely affordable price. Sony has pretty much captured almost the entire market. Of course they have been working at that for several years now. So it's going to be hard to win back the hearts of most Sony users.

There’s literally iPhone apps that can do this “cadrage” “lenser” “magic arri viewfinder”. Beats me why someone would pay a couple grand for a tool you already have in your pocket. 🤷🏿♂️
