I appreciate the way you reviewed this book. I like Gilbert's stuff quite a bit, but this one's my favorite. Ya gotta read it twice just to find the deeply hidden historical easter eggs. It's good stuff.

I definitely need to re-read it! I’ve been itching to. City of Girls is forever my fave 🥰

This sounds really interesting, especially the themes it gets into.

Yesss! I find that Elizabeth Gilbert (from the two books of hers that I have read... lol) does a really good job of having these conversations, without being like, "HEY! EVERYONE! LOOK HERE! WE'RE TALKING ABOUT SEXISM/RACISM/CLASSISM/ETC. NOW!" It just happens naturally within the storytelling like it shouulllldddd!!!

I read this a yearish +/- ago. I loved it. Then read City of Girls this year on audio and blegh. I actually ended up skipping several chapters just to get to the end.

Haha oh wow that's interesting that you loved one and not the other! :D I just adore Elizabeth Gilbert's authorial voice. :-)
