I sadly say this all the time. Like 2005-2006 I feel was the last year we got some of that old world era style of movies Movies still felt of the 90's and even the 80's sometimes back then but now lots of it feels plastic. Digital just has that gloss and manufactured look to it and does not always feel grounded. As time went on, the suspense and horror elements of movies just felt predictable and cheap. I'm sure it's costly but I would love for directors to use cameras of that 2000 era again. @@JsscRchlDrsy

Every single time I watch this film, I notice another detail! I just finished yesterday and noticed that the coal chute grate in the basement has tiny crosses all over it. This is where the fresh air is felt in the pits of the basement/despair, which can be symbolic of the faith that begins to be felt down there and begins to transform Graham. It's also where the last hurdle must be surpassed be begin that journey back to his faith (the alien is right there!) So damn good!

I feel more people hate this movie than love it. I for one LOVE this film...when i first heard of the backlash i was stunned. I understand some of the arguments...however, some are just stupid. They travelled to earth out of despiration for resources their planet no longer harbored. They were willing to take a risk. For once the Aliens weren't stupid looking, or to far fetched to even be plausible...even in outer space. Have yall seen some of the aliens in recent movies? I love how everything ties together and has a meaning. The movie had the perfect mix of comedy and thrill. I cant wrap my head around the hate Signs and The village recieve. I think the movie gets most of its reputation from people who were told what to think of it, rather than people who went in blind and developed their own opinion. It’s very much like how KZbinrs nowadays make a living trashing every movie that comes out now.

The film could have been written more carefully so I don’t want to justify it but there is a simple and intuitive explanation for a science fiction enthusiast who observes carefully: These aliens are NOT conquerors, they are raiders, pirates who pass from random planet to planet in search of food and resources only to survive. They don’t wear clothes, don’t have weapons. They are more like animals. I even suspect their ships were stolen maybe from a superior species. Think of them as wolves stealing cars and messing around. They were desperate.
