I've typed in KZbins search bar living with a drug addict, divorcing a drug addict a million times and I see your videos every time. Just wanted to say thank you for putting this out there. It's a tuff topic to talk about. I really don't have anybody to talk to about my situation and it was nice to watch your videos and actually feel like you where talking to me. Coming from someone who has been there and still is I am truly sorry you had to go through that. It's hard. My wife, my daughter's mother is addicted to heroin/prescriptions and I'm at that point where I can see now that I have to leave and worry about myself and most of all my daughter. This has been ongoing for years and at times it messes with your sanity. I guess I just wanted to reach out and say thanks for having the courage to make these videos.

Thank you for your candd disclosure. Addicts are good at hiding the problem -- for awhile. I also divorced my spouse due to drug abuse and all the consequent chaos of that. It took me 2 years to recover, financially and emotionally, but very worth it I regained my sanity when I cut the ties.

I appreciate you sharing this part of your life. My ex boyfriend would stay in the bathroom for an hour too. Thankfully I had a window in the bathroom and went outside to look in on him (I don't know why it never occurred to me before this day to do it) and I found him doing crack!?! With a spoon lighter and syringe. From that day on everything made sense so I went from chaos to clarity very quickly. I'm so glad I didn't have children. It was much easier to get him out of my life. I believe if more people shared the behavior in the way that you are, it would help someone who's living in that chaotic world to see the light. Thank you!

KWheels The only way to do crack is to smoke it from a pipe. You don't use a syringe to do crack (unless you're shooting up powder cocaine.) Nor would you be using a spoon and lighter (unless you're using the spoon to freebase).

I give you so much respect for getting your children out of that situation! I grew up with a father who was a drug user and abuser,and even as a young girl I called him out on it,every chance I got everyone that walked through our door I told them what he did. Now at 36 I can truthfully say I have never touched or tried a drug I saw what I can do to a person,a family. My father may not talk to me to this day for me standing up for my little brother.All the signs you are talking about are right on. I remember waking up on the middle of the night to the smell of spray paint because he would be raking apart dirt bikes in the house and spray painting them and putting them back together,not wanting my friend to cone to my house because my father would spend 3 hours in the bathroom.

Ohhh the tweeking... My ex used to work on the car, boat, mower and motorbike and of course convinced me that's what the money was for. He would be downstairs in the garage ALL the time. When he would finally come up he would be in the toilet for ages. He would be in there for an hour and then he'd be back there within 30 mins. After I left the first time I caught him re handed downstairs with the meth pipe to his mouth. This was just 3 weeks after I come back. Was gone for 8 weeks and made promises after promises he will do anything at all just to have his family back. It really is saddening.

Tip from an addict. I was buying 30mg roxicodone pills that were $25 a pop. I went from a $100/week habit to blowing a grand in a week or two. I'm glad you touched on it first, because the number one red flag will be money missing. When the money runs out, items start missing. I pawned my stuff and when I ran out I moved to my GF's jewelry. Another sign is the suspected person leaving the house at either the same time or quick random hours; I know, that's a broad spectrum but I'll explain. My dealer only came out during certain times, usually 4 o'clock. There were times when I'd have to meet someone else and they would only give me a one hour heads up, so I'd have to drop what I was doing. I know, I'm a piece of shit. I luckily had the most girlfriend who saw who I was and knew that the person I changed into was because of the drugs. The number one thing you can do, is try to remember who the person you are with really is deep down inside. Having said that, there is only so much of yourself that you can put into trying to help out a loved one. Remember, that person is always going to be an addict, whether it be a month or 20 years of sobriety.

A mind that is addicted will do anything to maintain the addiction (steal, lie and manipulate) Being clean now myself I still find myself fighting the urges everyday. But everyday I’m clean is one more day of freedom from the prison of addiction.

Matthew Garcia it is so hard to see your live one go deep down with the addiction, it feels so much frustration because I took him to rehab, I told him not to worry about money, my main concern was that he could stay and get help as long as he needed, his health was more important than anything. He seemed to get better and one he got out he started again using.

@Amber Walters it's just very hard to know due to the mistrust that addition causes. the clean addict has to realize each person has their own timeline for forgiveness. for some, the longer the abuse went on, the longer it will take to forgive everything they did that went along with it. I grew up with addicts all around me. They get better then they go back. it left me with trust issues. if a person is to understand your addiction and forgive, you have to forgive their lack of trust. and now the process repeats itself in the mates I choose, but that's another topic. I thought I knew better. but it's a personality trait I'm attracted to I guess and I have to change that. i try to choose right but an addict never introduces themselves, hello I'm Brian, and I'm an addict.

My aunt and uncle had a drug problem while I was growing up. I lived in the house behind them so I had a front row seat. What my uncle eventually came clean about was meth, but nobody really knows besides them (my aunt has always staunchly denied she used, but what the accounts by other family members say is that she likely got him into using. She's the biological family of the pair, so it isn't just blaming the outsider.). It was the weirdest thing to watch. They'd be like, outside, doing yard work at 2am and always mean, angry and looking for a fight. Living so close to them was difficult; ultimately, we moved. I don't know how you made it so long, but I'm glad you're out of it. I went back and watched one of your old videos the other day and you seem so much happier now.

I came across your Channel about a month ago and love it! I'm a mom of 1, he is almost 3 & his biological father got into cocaine & drugs when I was pregnant with him. He got into it while I was away for 2 months so I never seen signs, I left & I never went back, and tried to have visits twice when my son was a newborn, no luck. But it's okay, I'm perfectly fine with it, I am in a relationship and have been for over a year and he takes my son as his own, loves him as his own, it's like a chance to start a new life, my prayers were answered because I have a new beginning , May I ask what your ex husband looks like? I'm just curious. Love your videos so much! You're such a strong woman & gives everyone else strength to carry on :)

I think one of my loved ones is smoking crack. Long hours in the bathroom. Lots of throat clearing and nose blowing and spitting. Lots of toilet paper usage. Water running. Candle usage. Not eating. Sleeping in bathroom. Not doing any chores at all at home. Not even picking up after himself. Staying gone a lot. Always broke and not paying very important bills. I’m trying to figure out if it’s crack or heroine. Can you smoke heroine?

This all sounds familiar. The bathroom was a big sign for me too. My husband would go in there for hours. I walked in on him once and he was passed out standing up with his head leaning over on the mirror. I noticed leg and feet twitching too. It would drive me nuts! He would lay in his chair and his feet would twitch so bad they would kick out. Excuses to leave constantly was another sign. He always had to go somewhere really quick. I hate pills and meth! I wonder what it is with this combo?!

Most of my kinsfolk are drug addicts; they consume cocaine. We're 5 siblings from our mother and my father. My father, who didn't recognise me and therefore was out of touch with me, was the main drug-dealer who sold the drugs to my two only drug addict siblings (the two youngest ones after me, I'm the youngest). Nowadays, he's just ONE of the drug-dealers who sell drugs to them. You couldn't even imagine how my house went from being full of furniture to totally empty in a flash. You couldn't even understand how many times I, being 7, 8, 9, 10 years old, wanted to change my family because of one of my drug-addict siblings, who's a male, and wanted him dead (I still want him dead, to be honest). You can't even imagine how many effects drug-addicts may leave to a "family"; my mother has a psychological problem, she always wants to "disappear". She has actually sold our house just out of desperation (and because this feeling of wanting to disappear got the better of her) and made a stupid move: we lost everything, our house is to be refurbished and we cannot do it because we lost all the money. As regards me, I suffer panic attacks, my body reacts in such a way that I want to die literally when I am into that disgusting episode. Right now, I am not on speaking terms with any of my siblings, not even the two oldest ones who are not drug-addicts but are as stupid and time-consuming as the ones who consume drugs (one of them inherited the same psychological condition as my mother's). To me, I am not from this family. I am the only one who wants to study; I go to university and I actually want to do something with my life. Our family is one of those which doesn't have anyone being the breadwinner... well, my mother is that person, but she is just an employee and nothing else. I mean, there's not a forward-thinking person here. They are all basic: they don't want to study, they just want to depend on their fiancés, etc. My mother is the only one who works, but she achieved nothing in life and she's like she has never worked, because of this psychological condition which leads her to do stupid acts, very of a 15 year-old girl. It's so painful for me to arrive home after reading something and know that I am not to share it with my family because the only thing you can talk about here is how "cool" you are by planting a marijuana plant, or how "brave" you are when you confront the police (you know, almost all drug-addicts hate the police in a poor way), and all those shallow, meaningless conversations that you could have with a drug-addict. So now I don't even have a family... I am only on speaking terms with my mother, who is not a drug-addict but she has the problem aforementioned. Well, to conclude: I am better off being alone. I enjoy my life without my family, above all, the two drug-addicts. I even think that my family is a stumbling block in my life... and the only thing I want from a woman when I am to share my life, is not to be a drug-addict. Actually, I would leave her at the second I see her sniffing white powder. *Because drug-addicts become another person out of the blue, and you cannot love a person that, at some time, is another one.* Good life, and don't give drug-addicts a second chance... you will never know what comes next.

Not trying to sound rude in any way but have you thought about what your ex thinks about these videos? I am open on my end about past drug use but not everyone is. If he gets clean these kind of videos could potentially hurt him in the future. What if your kids come across these videos once they are older? My mom always talked bad about my dad's past and it really drove a wedge between is. Just a thought. I know it is a topic that a lot of your viewers want to see but might want to think about him even though he did and is doing a horrible thing. I know personally I wouldn't want my ex hashing out all my dirty details online for thousands to see. Again not being rude just stating an opinion on the other side as an ex meth addict.

TheThriftyMommyI can understand that but I have been careful. No bashing, whatsoever. Given that anything I put out here could be used against me in court I keep to the facts and ONLY the facts (so I am, by law, not defaming his character). I hid it for years to avoid people viewing him poorly but I have reached a point where I can clearly see that he doesn't care and he represents himself. I simply speak of this character that was my husband and in the process receive dozens of emails daily with gratitude. The good this all brings greatly outweighs and bad on one person (especially one who has done and continues to do what he has).

His choices and actions come with lifelong consequences. He gave up his own reputation and respect when he chose drugs over his family. I think Jeni has been nothing but gracious when discussing this topic. His full name has never been mentioned or anything that would lead an employer to these blogs. You can tell she treads lightly and is careful about what is said. But I mean really, why would he expect anyone to keep quiet about destroying an entire family. What's wrong is wrong, and he's obviously not in the right here. He's shown nothing more than a character of selfishness and lack of integrity. He needs to man up and take full responsibility for his actions AND do a 360 change, if for nothing else, for the sake of those little boys watching him.

I have a nephew that was addicted to Oxycontin... I didn't find out until I was babysitting he and his little sister for a weekend. I gave him my ATM card to get money out for his birthday present, only told him to take out $100... Well he took out $500, when his mom got home I told her and she confessed to me his problem and she paid me back. Later it got so bad he started stealing everything under the sun from family and it progressed to robbing homes. He kept on getting into wrecks with vehicles he would drive while being high and total them... He is now recovered and has held down a good job and doing much better. Also, 5 years ago, his father and whom is my brother got arrested for doing a very stupid, bad decision he made and now is sitting in prison for 17 years. It came out in my brothers trial that he had a Vicodin addiction, he had back pain issues and Dr.'s were giving him large amounts of pain pills. He lost his business, gorgeous $2 mil. home and his family.... His wife has been dating a great guy now for over 6 months, which my brother doesn't know about yet... So in the end, he has now lost his wife. When she tells him, which she says she is planning on doing after the first of the year, he probably won't have much to live for....

When they get massively aggressive that is a red flag.
@coreyanderson1457
@coreyanderson1457 3 жыл бұрын
So, with pain killers (pills), that are swallowed for example, there may not really be any obvious sign(s), at least not for a while. But, if someone has progressed to ingesting opiates in another way (other than eating or swallowing), then there will be much more obvious signs. Needle users use the bathroom for a long time. Because they are trying to be private and because of all the stuff they have to do, so they will take longer. Not saying that applies to you, just in general. So, yes, an unusual amount of time in a bathroom is a big red flag. Also, pin point pupils sometimes may be observed. Even in normal lighting. Being moody, that can be common. With speed, it varies from person to person. Some people get nicer on it, some people get mean (kind of like alcohol). But in general, the signs will be dependent on what type of personality a person has, and males do tend to be rude on it (just sayin!). When using street speed, as I'll call it, people may will typically do things like stay awake through the night, over focus, or be very adhd like in their behavior (going from one thing to the next). Talking a lot, or not as much. But not every person on it steals, that's a myth. Some people do, though. So, not every speed user picks themselves, or disassembles things, or cleans. It just depends, on the petson and the tolerance level. I am not saying anything about him, just saying what the general characteristics are. Opiates are very hard to stop, because people who have developed a tolerance of any kind will have withdraw symtoms when they stop using. So, they need a lot of support.

Its easy actually in the beginning, you have more energy you want to be doing something. As the addiction goes on you need the pills to function normally, to do that you need a job so u can have money to buy them, if you lose the job your broke and no way to buy the pills which when your in an active addiction are what you need to function on a daily basis you feel like your dying if u dont. The same part of your brain that tells ur body to eat and drink so you dont die is the same part that becomes addicted and tells you u need the drug to survive if you dont have it you feel as of your dying bc ur body mimics the same symptoms as you would have if u were dying of starvation or dehydration.

Also that tinkering stuff is typical of Speed amphetamine. I used to clean the hole house in about an hour on that stuff. Notice that most of the 'recreational' drugs that are about today started from diet pills.

I have a friend that says he does coke but I couldn't really tell when he was on it. When I first met him he was more mellow and now his talking is more rapid and loud...I don't know if he's on it or his brain is just impacted from the use. He would get really aggressive and rude and backed down when I started to stand up for myself. Its all very bizarre and shocking to me because I'm not used to drug culture. He's homeless now...I don't know how much of his circumstances are from drug use...he says none...but who knows.

It’s sad and disappointing when a person chooses drugs over their loved ones. Even if it you can consider it your loved ones. Been on this boat, this will make second guess anyone ever in my life. It’s truly pathetic how both men and women choose to destroy their lives.

My ex fiance was and still is on drugs. I was like you, blinded by love. I trusted her way to much. I found out that she cheated on me while we were together. Probably for drugs and money to buy drugs. She's addicted to pain pills and meth. I still love her but it's a lost cause. She'll die all alone or murdered by one of those dudes that use her for sex. She is a retired Texas corrections officer of ten years. Currently works for Louisiana DOTD. Oh and worked for Homeland Security. Just goes to show you that drugs effect higher ups. Not just the low class.

It's a shame to see so many people defending him and his actions and being ass hats to you. He made bad decisions and continues to make these decisions. His children won't look at these videos and make judgements on him, they will have already made their judgements for him not being present or being a loving father. These videos help others, and she isn't speaking anything but the dang truth. Good grief! If he doesn't want to be portrayed as a druggie, than don't do drugs. If he doesn't want to be portrayed as a bad parent, than he could support his children financially and emotionally. You are basically high fiving him for being a druggie dad and shaming her for telling her story and encouraging others who may need encouragement.

TFS!!!!! I'm not an expert, but sounds to me like he might have been doing cocaine when you thought it was just pills. Usually with pills you're more tired and can't "get it up". A lot of the things you talked about sound like cocaine. Not that it matters :) you're such a strong person!

Hey there - you seem like a very smart woman and would be interested to hear about your views on the rights children have in relation to their own digital profile. Quite a few of theses videos discuss their fathers problems with drugs, bad behaviour, lying and possibly being unfaithful. I can understand it might be cathartic for you and also help other women who might find themselves in the same situation but how are your sons going to feel about this aspect of their lives laid bare - he is responsible for half their genetic make up? Not judging just wondering if you think about it?

I'm so sorry you have had to deal with all of this. I love what you're doing with these videos. You're very relatable and I think they could really help a lot of people who don't know what to look for or what they should do. I know with pain pills or opiate use it makes it very hard to go to the bathroom. If he had regular bathroom habits before it was probably something he really struggled with. Also you were right it's meth that makes people tweak. Taking things apart, putting them back together, excessive cleaning, doing the same repetitive motion over and over is all signs of tweaking. My motsher did it all. She was crazy when she was on Meth. She would be totally fine one second and the next she was flipping out swearing at you about something you didn't even know about.

There is a simple solution to those who want to take drugs and be something. Become a rock star. That's the only people that can get away with it. Even they run out of money. Thing is, they look way better going down then a normal person. They sell shit they own and get two or three hundred thousand cash. Not fifty bucks and a pawn ticket haha. No, seriously. You can't deal with an addict until they want to do something for themselves. They should be tweeking out on a guitar for two or three days straight, but they like to tear up cars and "build" stuff lol.
