The logic is timing. If your shadow is less than your height that means it's around afternoon, which is most preferred time to absorb sunlight as light intensity is high then.

Length of shadow depends upon where is sun in the sky. If shadow is very long then it's very near to horizon. (Plz try to find a good logic before casually critising an expert)

She is right . The shadow rule says that when your shadow is smaller you are producing more vit D and vice versa. So go out in the sun when shadows smaller to absorb maximum vit D

Also, DIRECT Sunlight only helps, not the sunlight of window, unless the rays fall upon u. 11am-2pm direct sunlight has got the max UV which is essential for production of vit d in the human body. With D3 supplement, u can survive without the sunlight, but has to be there in the vit tablet.
