Spring is definitely here and after a period of sustained cold, windy conditions, things have started to settle down with even the odd 'warm day' making a surprise appearance. In terms of fishing, things are starting to come to life, and this video is of an hour and half I had before collecting our usual Friday Tesco shopping delivery. You've got to try and grab a cast when you can and in the vicinity.

The fishing on this loch is controlled by Portree Angling Association, day tickets are available and the water is fly only, catch and release for brown trout. More info is on the website below.

Cheers, yes very lucky to live and work here, and get to fish these places. I’m still searching for that Orkney sized west coast brown, but I had a great evening session a couple of sundays back with some lovely wild brownies. All the best 👍

Poor planning isn’t it 😆? 5-7 collection & daughter at a kickboxing class, that is quite often when I squeeze in a quick cast. I was out last Sunday evening though and had a great session with browns & a couple of escapee rainbows that I took for tea. But just to highlight how fickle fishing is and the difference a wk makes, i got up early this morning for a big fat blank! One good pull off a decent brownie was my lot. So back to the drawing board 😆 I’m still formulating my response to your incendiary part 1 and 2 that I watched last night! 😁 In the meantime I have some shelves to fabricate under the stairs.

@@highlandfishingdiary8818 try and mix up your retrieve on big waters slow it down a little you will catch alot more fish thank you for not taken offence

@@jamessmith7459 no offence at all James, we are all learning and I know I’m not the greatest angler in the world but I enjoy sharing my trips and to look back on. I try to tell myself I need to change the retrieve, make it more erratic or figure of 8 etc or let the sink tip sink a bit more, I think it’s my age and I get stuck in a routine 😆 I always appreciate advice, we can all learn from each other and your comment proves how useful a community it can be on YT. Thanks for that am not the greatest ethier i have been fly fishing a while tho so again thank for not telling me to pish off yeah let it sink slow it down a little and figure 8 method is deadly when it works bud hope this helps
