I'll always love Arenado. What a joy to watch for a lot of years. Disappointing that we couldn't build a WS winning team round him and Goldy. He deserves better but i think we deserve better production for the financial outlay. ❤❤

If i was him I would go. It sucks for his fans. But they need 3rd base open. It gets the other guys so much more playing time ... I hope he goes somewhere where he can win ... Maybe him and Siani can go to the Yankees and make a run. Siani inbetween Judge and Stanton. Move Chisholm to short ... I think Soto goes to the Mets or Phillies.

A clean break from the disappointments of Goldy and Mr. Drama would be quite welcome for me. Let the kids play. And yes, I think both deserve to be in the HOF. Also realizing there is a reason both of their teams let them go. Saw that the estimated value of Arenado for the remainder of his contract is $25 M less than he is owed. Ugh. Gorman/ Donnie if needed at 3B, competition between Saggese and Wetherholt for 2B. Thinking the team will be better next year.

Tough one but needed. Didn't know this at the time, but Goldy/Arenado needed leaders on the team. It's not a role they could do. 2021 they had Yadi. 2022 they had Pujols. When the leadership fell on their shoulders, they started to decline. He does deserve to be on a team that isn't depending on him, but bummed he couldn't execute in 21/22 when we needed him the most.

If the pitching holds up and some of the fielders move around, why can't the Cards be about 500 again. I think they are shooting for 2026. That is why Sunny and Controus are staying.

I don’t think anybody believes Arenado won’t be traded. The only questions are, where he go, when will it happen and what will they get for him. Until this information is available, there’s no reason to talk about this.

was hoping he'd be able to turn it around and play well enough to end his career here. I get why the team is looking to move him though and I wouldn't be surprised if another winning organization with a better development/coaching infrastructure revives him a little bit. can also understand why he'd want to leave but I just don't want to see it happen :(

The most important part of letting nado go will be increasing the clubhouse vibes. Getting back something that contributes later on is nice, but i think everyone’s mental health improves now. I like nado and he’s a great player and i hope he goes to a contender. I see mikolas staying. Nobody wants him or his salary right now. If he pitches a great first half or first 2 months then move him. Helsely is the trade piece that needs to count. Ive always liked kjerstad from the Os. Whatever deal it is its got to go the cards way to make up for some recent bad decisions.

Trading Arenado makes sense and so does Helsley. But I would wait till the deadline in Helsley as you just never know. We may be better than expected. If not then trade him. MIkolas does not walk anyone because he throws over the plate. Problem is he does not have swing and miss stuff. More sweeper and less change up or curve.

I think one option is to trade Arenado & Helsley together in the same trade. Probably not my favorite. Probably getting less in prospects but also paying less of Arenado’s salary. If you could get 1 really good prospect but pay very little of Arenado’s salary would you do it ??

I’d be down to trade Donovan, he’s a 2B bat who plays everywhere. He had his best year & has trade value so trade him away targeting a 3B with a 3B bat or a corner OF with pop bat who’s 1-2 years away. L I have the similar opinion with Noot as well, get guys who all come up together. Davis & Wetherholt are 1-3 years away that’s your window if they aren’t spending. Then when you trade both, Koperniak & Prieto get shots. They could then spend money on a 1 year corner OF with upside to trade at the deadline, just find this year’s Winker. I’d even shop Burleson too, with the way the Cardinals use the DH. I think Herrera will DH a lot when he’s not catching. Burly’s just not an OF & we’ve given Contreras 1B. I know fans won’t like my ideas but I think you let Bloom build the team how he wants for 26 & beyond now. A backup 1B/DH isn’t a big need going forward not to mention I see Walker moving to 1B/DH in a few years.

Mozeliak has gutted this organization. Whether it was his inept abilities or ownership it’s irrelevant because this team is a shell of its former self concerning talent. His free agent signing history is abysmal. Hes made Some decent trades and some Horrendous trades. He can’t Leave soon enough as far as Concerned. The team hasn’t been interested in championships for years only in remaining “competitive” which means we Want to spend little as long as fans keep coming. The fans finally figured it out and now ownership is blowing it up in retaliation

I’m sure Arenado is a solid dude.. but let’s be real here.. Mo lied to this guy about a contender.. this guy continues to get a pass constantly for his BS..
@MGillDesign
@MGillDesign 4 күн бұрын
agreed. Mo did lie to him... He may not ever publicly throw Mo under the bus for it... But it's a shame that the Cards just did "enough" while Goldschmidt and Arenado were here (to stay afloat). They never went for it. And to top that off, Mo kept pushing reset button on managers, and hiring inexperienced ones... that didn't know how to handle veterans... Let's be honest... Marmol was in awe of Waino, Contreras, Goldschmidt and Nado (his first few years) 2022-23. He refused to bench them or move them in the order (when they struggled in 2023). An accomplished, veteran manager would not hesitate. Then there's the playoffs... Nado and Goldy never produced like we thought... But, at the same time, a veteran manager would know how to manage a short (1-3 game) series, when offense is limited... I truly believe had the Cardinals made it out of the 1st round, Nado and Goldy would've eventually got into a groove.... but the manager found other ways (like pulling Jose Quintana)...to lose and get bounced out early... Or even when Shildt brought in Alex Reyes, (in a 1 game series) when everyone knew he'd give up a homerun. What would a veteran manager, or a Dave Duncan type pitching coach... have done for those 3 years? we'll never know... but for sure... most of the blame goes on Mo
@bschaeffer12
@bschaeffer12 4 күн бұрын
I think the framing that Mo lied is not really specific to what happened. Nobody was there for what Mo told him. I reckon it wasn't "We will build you a winner". I reckon it was him outlining a plan to try to reach that goal. The plan failed. He failed to execute it. And now Arenado is rightfully probably ready to move on. But that's not a "lie". The characterization from fans is strange to me. Mo 100 percent failed. But suggesting it was a lie to commit to trying to build a winner is an oversimplified evaluation of a tough business.

@@bschaeffer12 Ok, maybe not flat out lied. But Mozeliak and the Card's methods for putting a winner and what Arenado probably expected are not the same. So he may have told Nado they will try to put a winner... But STL community knows that usually means "compete" for a wild card... and hopefully get lucky. And we know that Nado was quoted as saying... "He's tired of wild cards..." during the 2022 playoff hunt. Where i think Mo and DeWitt would be just fine with sneaking in (as a wild card)...

Ok so if you're only trading 2 players (Gray & Contreras are staying) your not getting a whole lot back and if you're not signing free agents then what the hell are we doing ? So your not trying to make the playoffs and your not really rebuilding either. I'm confused.

Pardon my French, but why the f**k would we trade Donovan!? I thought that we traded Tommy Edman BECAUSE we wanted to keep Donovan around. Remember when Gorman, Nootbaar, and Donovan were the pieces that were talked about as trade pieces for Sean Murphy or Logan Gilbert? (I said that Gorman and Noot could be traded, but I want Donny to stay in St. Louis). That said, Donavan has been pretty much what Edman was for us as a utility guy, and if Gorman doesn't turn out, we will need someone to pmay 2B or 3B: we can't have Saggase play both, in the same inning. Donovan is the type of guy you 100% build around. Whether he lives up to that status or not is besides the point. In the here and now, Donovan is a young veteran who fits the role we are going to need while we see whether or not the prospects pan out or flame out.
