I’ve eaten at some places where it’s premade or pre prepped and it’s still delicious. Then I’ve been to some places where it’s so premade it should’ve been tossed. One Canadian breakfast chain where I swear they just scooped the ingredients out of buffet style trays, some have sat there for days, pour ‘cheese sauce’ over it all and call it a breakfast hash platter, served with ‘orange juice’ somewhere between Tang and Sunny D. Or one small town highway restaurant where the hot meals they served still were shaped in the stouffer box shape they’d just been nuked in
@whatsfordinner214 жыл бұрын
Pretty shit observations here. I've worked in fine dining restaurants for 8 years. Every single dish requires prep, in other words, you need to prepare the components of a dish ahead of time. I'm not going to cut a tomato, wash and cut lettuce, peel and cut an avocado, slice meat and cheese and bake a bun to order if somebody orders a sandwich. I do all of that before service, then I assemble the ingredients to order. Your video makes it sounds like nothing is fresh unless you prep and assemble everything to order. Fresh dishes can be prepared in less than ten minutes if you have prepared your fresh ingredients ahead of service.
@Stunnedstudios4 жыл бұрын
As a server I've noticed some things where you can tell easily if your meal is made fresh or not. It's all about the type of restaurant. If you go to a burger place and order spaghetti, then it's most likely going to come pre-made and just heated up. Also no matter where you order lasagna, it's always going to be microwaved because restaurants make it in bulk instead of one single serving.

Removing items from a soup? It takes time and collective efforts from different ingredients to make it taste the way the chef or cook needs it to taste. It would take a literal hand/tong in your soup to fish it out! Doesn't that sound pleasant? XD A very VALID point a commenter also added below, "premade vs prepped." Do you or 15 other people want a salad cut fresh but also in a timely manner, that is delusional! It is inefficient for the restaurant and the guests. When a restaurant is busy, the food is probably coming out fast because they can afford to cook things in bulk while still being fresh. I worked at an Olive Garden and it didn't seem like much was made in the kitchen there. Everything was shipped from corporate and re-cooked. Breadsticks - yes. It came in large frozen bags. The cooks would take them out, brush them with butter, then cook them for about 20 more minutes. Salad - yes. They came in large pre-mixed bags which we would dump into a dispenser that the waiters would fill salad bowls from. Pasta - yes. One time I literally saw a cook take a pre-portioned bit of pasta in a bag and microwave it. However, I think most of the time they just boil it for a few minutes. I think that meat and seafood they do cook (after thawing it out), so that's kind of from scratch. Some chain restaurants are good and some are bad. Let’s be honest, Golden Corral is the only cheap place where a steak (tho it’s not high quality) is cooked fresh

I like pre make food .. it shows that most Americans would complain about anything. Now if you go to the Italian restaurant and it take 2 Hours to get your food ready you will complain about that too. I want my food to be ready let’s than 15 minutes

OMG, this entire video is complete BS. You think they make soup or marinara to order? Order lasagna with no mushrooms? Explain how someone is going make lasagna to order. And unless you live within 200 miles of an ocean that fish you are eating in your sushi damn well better have been frozen.

I won't ever eat at a Chili's or Applebee's anymore. Last steak I got was obviously microwaved .
