Dracula, Session 1 - Changing Perspectives

In which Dr. Corey Olsen begins his examination of Bram Stoker's famous vampire novel, Dracula.
In Class 1, Dr. Olsen discusses the "documentary evidence" out of which the narrator constructs the tale. He also explores the image of vampires before and after Dracula, and how our response to the text is conditioned by over 100 years of images, tales, and metaphors that readers in 1897 did not have. He follows this up by examining the personality of Dracula and the combination of repulsion and attraction in the power of the vampire.
