Basically, most of the song is sung in hopelandic, no lyrics at all. The only lyrics in the song are at the last line where Jonsi sings "Ég anda, sem betur fer" which means in english "I breath fortunately". The message at the end is beautiful by the way, breathing feels great! I’ve had it stuck in my head ever since I left this comment three years ago.

This is the cool thing about the video series; the artists involved each submitted their work without any input from the band on the understanding that they would run whatever was submitted. This is purely each artists vision set to the song, and I think it’s awesome. The best, in my opinion is Alma Ha'rel's submission for fjogur piano, freaking surreal.

for sigur ros website :sigur rós have given a dozen film makers the same modest budget and asked them to create whatever comes into their head when they listen to songs from the band's forthcoming album. the idea is to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom. among the filmmakers are ramin bahrani, alma har'el and john cameron mitchell.

"Ég anda" means "I am breathing" or "I breathe" in Icelandic. (thanks eadamic17) That being said, I think the video may seem cheesy, low budget, and possibly completely stupid at first, but experiencing this concept of being grateful for breathing throughout the video transforms it completely... the look on the man's face after being thrown onto the table says it all.Also, I sense a contrast going on between metaphorically gasping for life at the level of merely surviving and living life fully.

I personally think this is a great awesome video that represents the band in a way..simple, not mainstream, no fancy equipment editing, just simple idea, simple video, simple characters, simple concept. it falls within the whole minimalist concept. it is a great video different from other stuff we see today made by awesome bands as well..so I give it a 5 stars

The so called "inadequacy" between the 2 materials is probably what the director had been going for. The gap between the contemplative-poetry of the song and the informative aspect of the video might be surprising at first glance, I admit. But it's not your usual educative video : the akward acting, the weird fake smiles, the white suit guy ; it has that weird dream feel, like it's taken from Twin Peaks. There's some oniric, almost lynch-like aspect to it. It's pretty freakin brilliant to me...

I really loved this video (and of course the song) For those that may not understand, the song Title translates to "I Breathe" I think that the director was trying to convey the simplicity of just breathing by showing how silly and trifling "helpful" educational videos are sometimes. In the end, you just have to Breathe! Even if that means forcing it out. "Breathing feels Great" is a fantastic quote with lots of meaning. Don't just disregard this video as stupid! Try to dig! and Breathe.
