[Verse 1] We overflow in a hurricane We overflow in a hurricane We can feel no pain It's so close that we disappear Through this narrow gap The narrow gap that you leave us in [Verse 2] We can slide through this narrow gap The narrow gap that you leave us in And we feel you near But so close that you disappear [Chorus] While holding on to the sides Like a wind blows its emptiness Yes is not a real yes Not a real yes [Verse 3] Emptiness has many forms The only thing is to listen It has many forms And loneliness is a way to drown [Chorus] While holding on to the sides While a wind blows emptiness Yes is not a real yes Not a real yes

I think the thing I enjoy most about so much of their music, in particular the video presentations, is that they aren’t an overwhelming constant cry to, “Look at me! Look at us! We are so fabulous! Can you believe how fantastic we are? Look at us!” Far from the majority of the popular music industry attitude that blows up the egos of the performers, The Smile’s focus is on the music itself… the song. It does make me smile.

this is such a true and honest album about so many things, especially about human loneliness and its relationship with the modern world. I feel in the lyrics and melodies a feeling of dealing with the vulnerabilities and uncertainties of life, but without despair, with peace and resilience. This song in particular has a lot of that. while transmitting a serene peace.

I thought of a million different words. Superlative came to the top! It made me feel hope and all that energy of youth again, but it's more than that, is that wierd?

Beautiful melody. Beautiful harmony and string arrangements. Thanks to excellent composers of the magnitude of Thom Yorke who make music caress our soul, they reach the deepest interstices of the heart, giving us reasons to make life a calmer place, with faith and hope that not everything is lost, that defeats are part of a learning process and that true love awaits.

@philmessina4763 ай бұрын
Hmm... That's an nteresting observation. I never heard of those names. So, I went and listened to the instrumental "Weissensee" by Nue!. And I do notice a sonic similarity to "Instant Psalm". I wondered if the similarity was coincidental. But, it turns out, the Nue! song cited above is from the 1972 eponymous debut album by the duo of Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger after leaving Kraftwerk in 1971. In this case, I doubt the similarity is coincidental, but perhaps something of an homage.
