Nope. Client is in the wrong. Not only did she pick up the tools when she didn't know what she was doing, and you just don't do that...I'm fairly certain that's against the rules? But she then tried to blame it on the stylist for sabotaging her hair. Would have been less bad if she just stayed silent cause she was embarrassed. Still bad, incredibly annoying for not communicating to communicate you, but less so

Rules aren’t laws... but she doesn’t know the law, so she doesn’t know that it’s technically illegal to practice without a license. Although, while she would not be in direct violation since it’s her own hair, and she wasn’t being paid, she doesn’t know that - and it’s still not her scissors in a salon where they are insured and it causes them to be in violation of their insurance regulations, so if they wanted to, they could call police, have a report filed on her and permanently ban her from the property. How would that be for her embarrassment? I bet it would ensure she knew exactly who’s fault it was.

A stylist once thinned my hair WITHOUT ASKING FIRST. I love how thick my hair is, and in typical British fashion, I didn't say anything and had a haircut I hated until it grew out. I did however learn to always be specific, and made sure to ask whatever stylist I went to in the future that I didn't want my hair thinned under any circumstances!
@jinxypop13

Had the same thing happen. Thinned my hair when my back was to the mirror. Saw the last of the thinning when the chair was turned back. Huge chunks of hair were combed out. When I said something it was too late. They’d thinned my whole head. I was in disbelief.

I had a stylist who always insisted on thinning and I alway said no multiple times. Yeah I don't even know why anyone would want their hair thinned. Thick hair is an asset. I mean I guess if it's too much to deal with than I guess I understand. I saw this lady take down her hair once and I couldn't believe how much hair she had! I thought it was so beautiful 😍 I have medium to thin hair and Sometimes like when it's short it seems like so much and other times it doesn't seem like much.

That is my worst nightmare! I have really thick, waist length, natural (undyed/unhighlighted) hair that I've had since I was a little girl that I loooove. I went to a new hair stylist (for a dead-end trim) who could not stop talking about thinning my hair (even stated that we will thin it at my next appointment after I adamantly refused to do it that day). She kept saying long hair was pretty if it was styled every day, but definitely not worthwhile if it was kept in a ponytail (I walked in with it in a ponytail because I had the windows down while driving). And!! After mentioning that I will be starting a family soon, she told me "oh, you'll definitely cut it to shoulder length then because that's just one more thing you won't want to deal with." Yea, I am never going back because I do not trust her around my hair.

@@dracuzura Totally understandable reasoning, it's just that that logic is how we got here in the first place. Customer Service adopting the "customer is always right" policy is how Karens (and all types of entitled customers) developed, and then poor abused customer service workers caving to abuse in order to keep the peace or move things along faster is what keeps them coming back. They know if they throw a fit, or often just threaten a fit, they'll get what they want. The only way to make things better for the long term is to shut them down so they don't do it again (or at the least, not come back).

She can go ahead and take the issue to court, it’s a waste of her time and money when the court sees the security footage that I did nothing wrong and in fact she cut her own hair and tried to frame me. Ppl like her need to be dealt with accordingly. It blows my mind that she has the audacity to still blame siiri after proven guilty!!! That's awfully quick thinking! I don't think I could have come up with a reason for putting my hands on a stylist's shears. Once they see the video it's going to be obvious that she was being shifty while she did it... She was deliberately taking a piece out to get free services. I can see the manager trying to diffuse the situation and then go and look at the actual tapes while the stylist is cutting her hair so she knows what actually happened. Then maybe she could come out after the cut until the woman that she knows it was intentional and that she's banned. At least I hope she'd do that. Although if this is her MO, I don't think she'd want to get her haircut somewhere that had cameras again!!

Your comment about it being a normal part of the haircut, having an organic conversation, asking if this is too much brought me back to my last haircut where I posted my very first negative review. With pictures, too, because I do these cuts for wigs for kids and post the pics to a private Facebook album so my friends and family can see the dramatic difference between "hair all the way down to my butt" and "FANCY HAIRDO I ONLY GET TO DO ONCE EVERY 5 YEARS!!!" The first red flag was that the hair stylist didn't take my hair out of my ratty sleep braids, section it the hair into four sections, tie them off, and ask me if I liked the length before cutting. She just grabbed my farmer's braids, pulled them behind my head, tied them together, and hacked them off at the base of my skull. ... To say I was in shock is an understatement.
