As a student I was doing a color correction and discovered there was a hole in my gloves. I had a doctors appointment that afternoon for some blood work. When the doctor saw my orange fingers he went ballistic and stormed out of the room yelling that he would not treat someone who smoked that heavy. It took his nurse 5 minutes to get him to realize I was a cosmetology student.

I've never done hair, but I worked as a receptionist at a salon and holy cow the stories I heard and the shit I saw there was nuts. I am not surprised that someone would rather their stylist have an allergic reaction than have their nails be stained. I think that the clients can even beat the people I dealt with on the phones while working at a call center. I have a story if you want to try to use it. Client with black hair had my manager add in blonde highlights. Didn't look the greatest but she wanted it and she was happy. A week later she came back saying the highlights had faded. She had used black box dye to cover the highlights and claim they faded and really thought she could convince a stylist that it works that way.

My cousin was a stylist prior to 2020 when her boss wouldn't let her employees wear gloves. My cousin was having reactions to the chemicals that she used. So she quit and went to nursing school and became a nurse.🎉

Count me in with the latex allergy sufferers. Many people also do not realize how airborne the latex molecules can get. Because of that people with severe allergic reactions used to always be booked for the first surgical slot of the day.

As a hairstylist I can confirm we get color on ourselves and while I have not worked with color is several months I can confirm when I did I got color on myself all the time even with me wearing gloves and an apron but I can also confirm that hair color washes off skin pretty quickly.

Hi! I have a serious question. I have been going to my stylist for 12 years who I adore, is talented and we have a great relationship. I’m retired but active with, friends, hobbies, grandchildren & life. More often than not she’ll contact me prior to my appointment to reschedule to a different day and time for various reasons. I have always agreed. I don’t mind occasionally, but this is very frequent. I’m feeling like I am being taken advantage of because I’m retired and always available, which isn’t usually the case. I have to reschedule my things to accommodate. How can I address this with no hurt feelings?

Tell her next time you can't accommodate her and point out that you've noticed that it is a reoccurring issue. While you've been flexible in the past, it's become too much for you and would prefer not to have to reschedule so frequently.

When I or others have to defend my latex allergy I always tack on or tell the other person to tack on to the end of allergic reaction "and risk death\dieing" it typically gets the point across that there is not an option of using something with latex. My reaction isn't quite at the death or deadly extent (according to my doctors) but I do have to carry a Epi because of it and the more your exposed to latex the worse the reaction will get

Been randomly just watching You're videos here and there , depending on how bad the allergy is as well no latex gloves should even be in the salon if there is a latex allergy, I have one, I know this is just a video so may not be an actually real thing that has happened but yes the allergy can get that bad that if even a latex glove was touched by a finger and someone out that finger on the counter the person could still have a deadly reaction.

My goodness. You can tell stained skin from dirt under nails. I had a stylist one time who genuinely was bad at hygiene. She stunk.... badly. You could tell she hadn't showered in days....during the summer. It made me instantly nauseous. But she was the sweetest person so I tried to breath through my mouth and be polite. She also did a great job with my hair. However, I could still smell her on me when I got home, so I had to take a shower. Maybe I should have said something, but I honestly just didn't want to hurt her feelings. Something inside me said if this girl is struggling so badly she can't take a shower then you don't need to add to the chaos in her life. The longer I sat there and listened the more I realized she was going through it.

Some clients just need to be fired. ‘I’m sorry but we can no longer provide you the services you deserve’. Make a list all year and at the end everyone votes on which was the worst and fire them but you have to agree to put up with and give great service to the others on the list. It is great for staff morale.

When I was little I had serious allergies. So I understand the problem. Contact dermatitis, blisters, all kinds of fun stuff. Obviously this woman has never heard of anything like that or she would just shut up. I may not have complained about the nails, but I may have asked her during the appointment why she wasn’t wearing gloves and if she washed her hands. I’m not sure if I would have been at complete ease, tbh, but I wouldn’t refuse to go there again just because she didn’t have hypoallergenic gloves. I would understand about the gloves. I might have asked if I could get her the gloves or to reschedule to when she had the gloves, but I wouldn’t leave altogether. Definitely would not have demanded she have an allergic reaction.

OH & "I'm never coming back" should be legally binding. Luckily I think the sort of person who regularly says it will keep saying it until they've gone to every business. Then they'll start working harder & harder to fulfill that need to be obnoxious, in control & most importantly right. Even though there wrong. Unlike most cults where the members meet privately to listen to a charismatic cult leader. Who is often reasonable at first this is not true in the case of the Eternally Entitled. In fact they do not gather together in person & may never meet another IRL. Online they can be seen supporting other members, especially since us lay people have been using the term Karen for them. While I'm sure you recognise this term, what about acts of devotion & worship? Obviously, no entiity is higher than the most high self of whom "Do you know who I am?" applies. Besides the vow above, they will bother random people, from who they expect praise & obedience. If this is not forth coming or not enough to satisfy their needs, they will summon the manager. All acts of self devotion require them to insist an innocent person just doing their job is incompetent. These complaints are almost exclusively unfounded. Their purpose being to embarrass & humiliate someone doing their job. Often demanding an out of date coupon be used, a non-existent discount applied or a discount for a completely unrelated item. When their demands are not met, they summon the manager & sometimes add to their demands. The next stage is going to corporate, misleading negative reviews online... 😉
