Today, first time in my life I touched the sitar and today my guruji taught me basics of it, like sitting positions (बैठक) and how to hold a sitar, and then he taught me 7 swaras on it. It was literally mesmerising. It is my soul instrument and I can't express in words how beautiful the moments were....

I’m a beginner bass player and I can see the similarities between the bass and the sitar. Some play the bass using a pick, and the bass has thicker strings but the basic plucking and fingering are the same

@@RumbleFish69 Actually my guitar teacher used to instruct us about the body position upright and how the instrument is held but thats it…in the case of sitar, we have to sit on the floor and I have a problem in my legs that I cannot sit on the floor for long time …and the way he folded them is quite difficult for me😂. But listening to this instrument is quite an experience and I guess its worth the pain

This instrument can be played in different styles or as we call , Gharanas. There are many sects.. so you either have to learn northindian classical or carnatic. What actually matters is whether you have a good teacher and enough practice
