Would love to see a reaction to some of the non-sports specific climbing that rock climbers do. I think it's a pretty unusual sport in how upper body dominant it is, so there's some fun stuff when it comes to strength and conditioning with hangboards, upper body "plyometrics", very hard pull up variations etc

Just on the topic of BFR, my understanding of the purpose behind it is to prevent blood from leaving the area. The arterial blood is already being pumped under high pressure so it can enter the muscle, whereas the veins are constricted and blood can’t escape causing a build up of metabolites which will lead to greater hypertrophy. This is my rational behind hypothetically using it for rehab as you can train the muscle without putting as much mechanical stress on the joint. I’ll happily be proven wrong but just throwing it out there, cheers men

There are good controlled trials on Olympic athletes in the 6-8 week build up to world championships and onto Olympic Games using BFR for patellar tendonopathy pre-training showing significantly reduced symptoms post with isometric knee extension. Enough that they were able to show a return to normal in number of max effort trials for high jumpers and return to actual objective performance markers in height for the jump.

“Two badgers” as a unit of measurement! Love this cerebral video. I’d also like to see your views on some of the weights exercises. Are pull-ups beneficial for rugby? What exercises make little sense? What rep ranges should rugby players use for upper and lower body? Would an ideal be to increase muscle power with as little increase in muscle mass as possible? Is Lahiff the strongest rugby player in the UK?

As soon as I read the title of the video I smiled because if I think of the one player that really made an impact for the Lions during the last tour I think of Finn Russell, whose appearance i associate with the funny drunken lads I was meeting at the Westerton Arms in Bridge of Allan when I was working around there.

I'm not squeamish or afraid of the sight of blood, but there's something about blood flow restriction training that makes me want to puke. Seeing someone cut off the flow, veins popping and then start working out - the whole thing just makes my stomach turn.

Are you sure about the BFR training? I was under the impression BFR was used to restrict venous return while still allowing arterial blood flow, so wouldn't there be more blood in the active muscle, but again I don't see how it would help as a warm up as its just inducing fatigue.

BFR training allows blood flow in but restricts blood flow out, hence the massive pump you get from it.

I remember Wales going away pre RWC 2015 to Doha and Switzerland for something to do with 'Hypoxic' training (not sure what exactly that means) I couldn't get my head around how it would be beneficial for games in England. Is it beneficial in such a short term? Gatland used to love a good cryo recovery with his Welsh boys so naturally kept it up with the Lions.

I find ice baths help with recovery, particularly at the back end of a season where the body is struggling. The muscle soreness, niggles and bruises can be tough to deal with week in week out and I’m not sure if it’s a placebo or not but it feels it helps. That plus anti inflammatory meds. The again I live in Australia

Hi lads, this was super informative and a very applicable presentation BUT it did seem a bit dry and less fun/comedic than your more whippy and organic feeling early react vids. I get we're trying to calm the trolls down here a bit before all the fan boys start sh*tting in their hands and throwing it at you. However, you can't, nor have to, try and please everyone. Not saying this wasn't good, but just not as enjoyable as previous, perhaps more controversial reaction vids. Just one man and his dog over here though. Great content regardless.

10 minutes on whether or not some guy should wear restriction cuffs. If it's nuanced and it makes him feel good, then do it. As long as they go into a proper, general warm up after (which they undoubtedly do)- he's fine
