Iran is known as a land of cultural diversities and for thousands of years numerous tribes and communities lived in this land. They have migrated from other parts of the world and have found Iran as a peaceful homeland and have considered it as their own.
This news report by Iranian TV on Sikhs living in Tehran.
Gurdwara Sahib (Tehran) was founded in 1941 by Bhai Ganga Singh Sabha Tehran. Although Sikhs have been living there over a century. Religious celebrations include morning and evening prayers, Guru-Ka-Langer every Friday after the Akhand Path. Community services include establishment of a school, teaching of Punjabi and Dharmik (Divinity) forms an integral part of the curriculum. There are about 800 members of the Sikh community in the area.

Similarity between the "Khalsa" symbol and Iranian flag, which is supposed to be a calligraphic form of the word "Allah". Now, this symbol was picked by Ayatollah Khomeini. Khomeini's grandfather was an immigrant from India, and had the surname "Hindi". So there is always a claim made by Khomeini's enemies that his grandfather was a Sikh and that he too was a Sikh. And the similarities between the two symbols are supposed to be the proof.

I travel to Iran frequently, such an amazing place, contrary to all what we hear in the mainstream media, I’m a Sri Lankan, I meet a lot of People from the subcontinent who have been living there from centuries, signs of a huge Sikh community is very prominent as I stumble upon many at the airport. You have the audacity to question Hindus when Sikh Guru Arjan Singhji and Guru Teg Bahadurji were executed by Islamic Kings like Aurangjeb and Shah Jahan. When Sikh Guru for building the army asked for men-the eldest son of every Hindu family was asked to join and they did join, hence Khalsa was started. Sikhism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainsim are four ways of life with core tenets as Karma, Reincarnation and Mukti. Do you even know how many times the word "Ram" appears in Gurur Granth Sahib?! In fact Sikhs have been in Iran since 1918 at the end of the 1st world war. When the british left Iran, many of the army sikhs remained in iran and set up a base in Zahedan (dushtdoab) . It was due to the number of sikhs living in this town that the Shah's father changed its name to Zahid-an or place of fakirs.Both of my grandfathers settled here and brought up there famillies here too.

Singhs are the real Kings. They always think of others before themselves. Their religion teaches selflessness. I’m not Sikh but have seen them and their work for humanity closely. Their generosity speaks for itself. You will never see a Sikh beggar in India or else where. Their dignity is that of a lion. That’s why they are Singhs.

I always wanted to visit Iran because of the rich history as Farsi ( Persian) was the official language of Maharajah Ranjit Singh’s court. But I was scared because of media but now I will definitely go!!

Yes. Jindgi, muskil etc. We north indian use hundreds of farsi words in our daily life. jalebi, Kabab, Kofta also farsi words
